Instead, I encountered an environment where students who struggled were often left feeling discouraged rather than helped, and where organization and communication were consistently lacking. One experience in particular deeply affected me. While I was struggling in a course, Ms. Kelly, who serves as both the ADON and a professor, suggested that I leave the nursing program and switch to the medical assistant or surgical tech program. She went as far as calling me a failure and telling me that I "must not be doing enough" to pass. Those words were not only disrespectful but incredibly damaging. Hearing this from someone in a nursing leadership role, someone who should understand the reality and difficulty of nursing school was heartbreaking. Instead of feeling supported, I felt dismissed, humiliated, and discouraged. This experience left me both angry and saddened. Angry because no student deserves to be spoken to that way, and saddened because this is not the kind of leadership or environment I expected in a nursing program meant to prepare compassionate future nurses. I encourage anyone considering this campus especially the nursing program to stay away from this school or you will regret it like I did. The support shown during admissions did not match the reality once classes began. Class sizes were larger than expected, leaving professors overwhelmed and students without enough individual attention. Dr. Edgar, the Director of Nursing, also served as a professor, which led to confusion and unclear direction. Each term, schedules were chaotic, and students were often left confused and expected to figure things out on their own. When concerns were voiced, students became targets and were treated more harshly instead of being supported. After making several attempts to address these concerns, I ultimately chose to withdraw from the program. I'm sharing this experience in hopes that ECPI takes these issues seriously and makes meaningful improvements so future students receive the support they deserve.

Limitations to onsite learning: Due to my changing work schedule at the time, attending classes this way was impossible. The remedy? Online classes. Motivation: If the cost of tuition/books don't inspire you to learn/maintain good grades, I don't know what will. Learning keeps you young: Whether you're 21 or 81 and want to take classes, you should give Strayer University some serious thought.

This campus is cleaner, nicer. But it is smaller, and is often quiet and deserted on weekends. The library is usually empty on weekends. It's a good place to study. There's no public parking.. only temporary parking.. if you're gonna be there more than 1 or 2 hours.. you have to pay.

I got my Associates degree from NOVA and just like any other education, what you put in is what you get out. There were times that it was difficult and I had to put in more effort to make the grade but that's the point. Sure the facilities may be somewhat outdated but it's a community college, set your expectations at a reasonable level and you won't be disappointed, I guarantee it. For a community college it's one of true best in the nation, good professors and good accommodations. Not to mention the food in the cafeteria is actually really good at least for the campuses that I attended.

This was my main campus back in 2017-19 when I attended there for my Associates of Science degree…read more Like most others, I attended the school to save money prior to transferring to a four year university and managed to graduate debt-free. I had an extremely satisfactory experience at NVCC in regard to both the courses and faculty. My professors were all wonderful and while some were more exceptional than others, I enjoyed each and every one of those classes. Many of them were available by phone and email outside of class to provide additional assistance upon request. I can't think of a single professor who did not care about their job or the students. Back in 2018, I had a personal circumstance that greatly affected me and my professors were all so kind to me. Many of them spoke to me personally to ensure that I was okay after I opened up about the incident and even provided assistance. They referred me to resources to help me during this period, such as directing me to their emergency grant program and NVCC even paid for a portion of my personal bills. A lot of my professors even discussed options available for me related to the coursework while this happened, since it was during finals week (which wasn't a large issue since I was a diligent student throughout the semester). It was because of their help that I was able to so quickly refocus on my education. They really do care about their students. For most people, as long as you treat them with the respect they deserve then you can expect it to be reciprocated. I was enrolled in the Pathway to the Baccalaureate program which started from 2017 when I was in high school to assist me in the transition. This program wasn't extremely prominent in my student experience there, however, it did provide me with plentiful resources and accessibility to caring staff who helped me transfer upon graduation. I had the pleasure of meeting some very kind advisors who always checked in to assure that I would take transferrable courses and were overall helpful. Of course, if you're looking for a true "college experience" then NVCC might not be for you. Most of the other students are quite average in their personal motivations and don't seem very enthusiastic about their education. A vast majority will only go to campus to attend classes and leave. Like any other school though, you can easily find friends and social groups by participating and taking the initiative. Don't complain about not finding your "group" if you don't put in any effort. Keep in mind, the campus is very small (around three buildings total when I attended), but clean and presentable. Most of the classes were quite small usually featuring around 20-30 students. I will say that parking can be quite difficult during peak times (e.g. when the semester begins), but should suffice if you don't mind a further walk. These weren't problems for me since I was mostly focused on my education and finances. Overall, I immensely enjoyed my experiences at NVCC and would consider attending again for some other programs once I get my Bachelors. As a community college, expect a diverse student body (e.g. age, experiences, background). Be motivated as a student, initiate help with faculty, staff, professors, and you'll do fine. I will say that the experience isn't for everyone. If you want to enjoy being in a sorority, frat, a wide selection of clubs and student life, then maybe it isn't for you. For the serious student looking to save money and enjoy a great resource close to home, you won't find a better place.
