Had a great celebratory 25th wedding anniversary lunch here on a Tuesday in July 2018. The service was exceptional from start to finish especially when considering how really busy it was (bit surprised by this). We hadn't booked and they managed to squeeze us in. Loved the food and the gin I tried out. We both had rib-eye steaks. Will definitely be going back. Would recommend booking.

Another steak house has opened. There is a lot of great steak restaurant competition in Glasgow these days so M&C was gonna have to be on its game to impress me during my visit a few weeks back. Thanks to the awesome Pammi G we snagged some half price passes for one of their opening nights so we not only got to check out a new restaurant, try some great food, but we also got it all for a very responsible cost. The venue looks great, very fancy and the team behind it have done a great job. The staff were super keen and explained everything perfectly. The menu is pretty impressive. The line up goes - starter - salad bowl - steak and lots of sides - dessert. (With red Wine on top) Starter I had brilliant scallops with chorizo, it looked fancy restaurant quality and it tasted great. Then the Salad bowl - you get a whole loads of lettuce in a wooden bowl dressed with your topping sauce of choice (included in the steak price) and served just before the meat feast. It tasted good and is a clear point of difference from other restaurants. With the steak I got fries and some onion loaf thang with sauce all included in the price. I then added on a lobster Mac and cheese for extra food impact. I would say my t bone was slightly over done, but it was a good size steak and overall I enjoyed it. The lobster Mac was also tasty. Final course was dessert and I had was a really lovely creme brûlée. All in a great meal in a lovely venue. They have some real points of difference and its well worth a look if you love steak.

I had the pleasure of visiting Miller and Carter today as part of a Yelp Elite Event. I had been in this venue many many times when it was a post office and it was lovely to see how it has been transformed. I was first to arrive and was shown to my table which was in one of the corners and was perfect for out group. Private but you had a brilliant view of tbe restaurant for people watching and a great view of the open kitchen. While I was waiting one of the waiters Peter took my drinks order and once everyone had arrived he took the time to go through the menu very throughly. I had emailed through before visting to inquire about their allergen menu. I am glutent intolerant and there was no link to the allergen menu on the website so i knew what options were available to me. I chose the fillet steak with a side of fries and garlic mushrooms. Just before we were served with our steaks we were given the Miller and Carter wedge of lettuce with a dressing of our choice. It was a rather bizzare feature of the menu but Peter took the time to explain it all to us. Apparently it was all the rage in the old american steakhouses. It was lovely with the garlic and parmesan dressing but i dont think it was really needed. My steak was cooked medium and i am going out here and saying it was one of the best steaks i have ever had. It was perfectly cooked! The garlic mushrooms were lovely and i chose the mushroom sauce to accompany my steak. I really enjoyed my visit however we did have a slight wait for our drinks at times which stops this from being a 5 star review. Im very much looking forward to returning soon and i just had to give a mention to our server Peter who was really attentive to our table.

The loos are in a vault!

I've been in twice now, once during the soft opening and again last night. Wednesday nights are "Cork and Cleaver" night, which is an 8 oz rump steak, wedge salad, fries, onion loaf (not gluten free) and dipping sauce plus a glass of wine for 15 quid. It's a pretty amazing deal considering the amount and quality of food you're getting. I opted for the red wine (merlot) though there was the option to get white or rose as well. I had the parmesan garlic dressing on the salad, which I much preferred over the honey mustard and bacon I'd tried the first go round. I had regular fries (you can also get sweet potato fries) and went for the beef drippings as my sauce. You must try this sauce. I know the name is terrible and sounds like it would be a bad thing, but it is glorious. It is the perfect thing to dip your steak in. Speaking of steak, it comes with a nice chunk of herb-infused butter on top that melts perfectly over the meat. Just heavenly. All of the above (minus the onion loaf, which my friend kindly offered to take) is gluten free. Their steaks and all the sauces are safe, though starters and desserts are a little trickier. For dessert, we shared the creme brulee (my friend had to eat the biscuit on the side, poor her). The only other gluten free option is ice cream - meh. They have an allergen list readily available so if you're gluten free or free from something else, give them a call to see - they were really good about accommodating my needs. The venue itself is really cool - the loos are behind an old vault door (we tried to move it - nope. Don't think you can get locked in there!) They've also got some lovely cocktails, some of which are available at a lower price on Monday - Wednesday nights. I highly recommend it for a nice meal out!

Before Miller & Carter was born, this building formerly housed a Post Office, albeit quite a grand Post Office, so when I heard it was closing to make way for a restaurant I really, really hoped they wouldn't skimp on the interiors, and they didn't... From the champagne bottle lined entrance, to the vaulted uni-sex bathroom (you need your wits about you here but the doors are clearly labelled!), to the glass dome above the restaurant, everything about the decor is extravagant and luxurious. We were lucky enough to have bagged the private dining area which can seat 14-16 comfortably. It's a bright space (looks onto St Vincent Street) with a wall of padded seating to the left and the rest individual chairs. With private dining comes it's own waiter, fancy! Throughout our meal and wee celebration he couldn't have done more and knew when to leave us or when to check on us. On to the food! So a wee admission, I don't eat steak, full stop. And although yes this is a steak restaurant with a diverse range of cuts of meat, varying from £18 ish to, well the ridiculous!, I didn't struggle for non-steak options and ordered the sea bass. The skin was crisp yet the flesh still tender, the baby potatoes cooked to perfection, and the Mediterranean vegetables accompanied it beautiful, no complaints here! Admittedly, all the steaks did look good and had a glowing report from the group. Drinks were all of a high standard and included a nice softail section for non-drinkers, me however, na I had a fab elderflower and cucumber collins which was refreshing and gin-y. Will definitely be heading back here!

Loved this place A friend recommended here for my husbands birthday as it had space for a pram and had good steak. We planned on going out on the Saturday but it was fully booked so we opted for the Sunday and we are so glad we did. To start I got nachos and hubby got calimari, both delicious. Mains we both opted for fillet and it was melt in the mouth deliciousness. We both got it medium and although the outer of mine was a little too done the middle was perfect. We got a side of lobster Mac&cheese which was ok, I would t get it again and couldn't really taste any lobster. The fries are nice but not amazing but you do get a good amount. The wedge of lettuce with your choice of dressing was different but don't really get it and would tell them to not bring me one next time. You get that included in the price of your steak meal so worth a try. The wine and champagne selection is fab too. My mushroom and garlic steak sauce was lovely and so was my husbands peppercorn sauce, it was nice and firey. They had around 6/7 different sauces for you to pick from. We couldn't move after all of the above and opted for coffee and an amaretto hot chocolate (which wasn't on the menu but they made for me) for after instead of the delicious sounding deserts. I can not wait to go back here and try more, this has outdone my old faithful steak haunt (the grill on the corner). Miller & Carter does the best steak in my opinion (to date) and not bad price wise. Total bill inc tip was around £100.

Glasgow is a city that is now awash with steak restaurants, so much so that I've become quite blasé about a good steakhouse. Despite all this I was seriously impressed with my first visit to miller & carter a few weeks ago. I was lucky enough to snag a table at their soft launch nights where they were offering 50% off. Although even without this discount the prices are very very reasonable for the food they are servings. Located in the old post office on St Vincent Street the interior is stunning. They've done a wonderful job restoring & converting this building. I love the cool vibe they have created and can imagine that on a Saturday night it will be quite a swanky city centre location where people will want to get a little bit dressed up. The staff were lovely but clearly still finding their feet, I'm sure by now tho the service will be much faster. This really wasn't a big deal for us because we knew before hand that it was a staff training night, hence the 50% discount. :-) As you would imaging in this steak restaurant the menu is very meat heavy, but there is a fine selection of alternative dishes to choose from if you don't fancy a steak (although that's never happened to me...I always want steak) I kicked the night off with a DE-liciois plate of scallopes served with black pudding & new potatoes. It was a massive dish for a starter and was so tasty - the scallopes with big & juicy and went perfectly with the black pudding and soft fluffy new potatoes. For my main I ordered the Australian rib-eye which was beautifully tender and cooked perfectly for me. It was SO good! This came with one of the best sides ever - onion loaf.... It's like a sort of onion hash which was slightly crispy and incredibly flavourful. It also came served with nice portion of chips, meaty bone marrow gravy, and a wedge of iceberg lettuce which I really enjoyed. For dessert AllyG and I decided to get the sharing platter. I can't remembered everything that was on it but I do remembered there was a particularly fudgey gooey brownie which we fought over - I won. Miller & Carter is a wonderful addition to the Glasgow Food scene and will do incredibly well being so close to Buchanan St. I'd definitely recommend a visit.

It's a highly recommended steakhouse in Glasgow! Nice surroundings and friendly people. As a meat lover I ordered 12oz Ribeye, juicy and delicious! I would come to the place again next time!

I'd booked over the phone and when we arrived they couldn't find our booking which was a little awkward. We were seated and given a menu, and then I had to ask the waitress if that was the "voucher" menu which it wasn't, so those menus were taken away and we were given the correct ones. Our offer was for two steaks and you could add on starters and dessert if you liked - it was good to see that The Grill Room wasn't charging different prices between the two menus and all starters were £5 which was very reasonable. I had the crab pate to start and then steak au poivre for main. I really enjoyed both dishes and was pleased that the standard of 29 hadn't slipped. There might be better spots in Glasgow for steak these days but I really couldn't fault this one - it was perfectly cooked and I thought the peppercorn sauce was just lovely. The serving sizes were really generous and I didn't feel like they skimped on anything even though we were on a set menu/deal. Service was warm and friendly throughout the night. I like the little touches of the warm bread delivered to your table when you arrive, and the restaurant was bustling with guests in a good way, giving the place a good vibe.

Not for me, seemingly. Couldn't cut through it, it was so moist. A 10% service charge was also added to my bill automatically which I was not expecting. Perhaps as it was a Saturday night? Never actually had this happen before in my life, with a table for 2. Don't think it is appropriate to assume good service in advance (where the service was good and prompt). Good, varied menu with great food, well presented. Good location, with good prices. Was just lacking the something special to make me want to go back. A good shout for a city centre grill. We visited The Grill on the Corner during their manic 50% off January deal (50% off food - too good…read moreto resist!). I've dined her quite a few times so knew what to expect - a good selection of steaks and tasty starters. And after last year's cocktail making masterclass, my first request was a passion fruit sling. The bar girl whipped it up really quickly and clearly with lots of skill, and served up one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time - and it was topped with half a passion fruit. And only £6.50 which I think is a good price for a cocktail in the city centre. We had arrived early for drinks in the bar before our dinner booking and got a booth. I really like the bar area, I think it's generous size and comfy booths would make a good cocktail stop whether or not you were dining there. Right on time, a waitress came to collect us for our table and took our coats so all we had to carry were our drinks which I thought was a nice touch. The dining area in the GOTC is really beautiful - lots of glitz and glamour with the leather seats, chandeliers and the fairy lights in the window. Our table was an oval shaped booth tucked away in a corner as our booking was for 8 people but there was only 6 of us. This was probably my only criticism of the evening - the way the booth was shaped made conversation difficult (and with the background noise) so you could only really talk to the people immediately next to you. If there had of been 8 of us I think it would have been a lot worse! I started with cheddar and spring onion croquettes. Three croquettes with a portion of salad, these were lovely and crisp. I think the filling needs a bit more of a punch to it as the flavours are a bit mild but I think that's how they're meant to be. I'd definitely get them again though as I am croquette-obsessed. Because we were getting 50% off, I decided to go for the fillet steak on the "Best of British menu" - this is a changing menu where they feature a few cuts at a premium price. I can't remember which beef was featured on that menu but it was around £34 for a fillet steak of 220g. I opted for blue cheese sauce and chips with mine. The steak was a little pale on the outside - I like a nice sear on it but not enough to complain about. It was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and I had no trouble devouring the whole thing! The sauce was lovely and rich and a really good sized jug so I didn't run out. The chips are consistently good - rough cut with the skin still on and lovely and crispy. I had a lemon sorbet to finish. I remember last time I ordered this it had a slightly strange taste but there wasn't anything of the sort this time. The bill came to around £35 each - that was for a cocktail, 3 course meal and soft drinks. Seriously good value and a fantastic night out. Moving into February they're doing a lobster deal so I think I'll be tempted back sooner rather than later!
