Or, I think what's more accurate is that she's just really, really talented at being a travel agent. The thing about using Jane, too, as opposed to trying to do everything yourself on the net, is that she's there to get you out of a jam NOW with all of her connections, resources and talent. I've always booked my own adventures online. I used to travel for work for a significant portion of…read moremy job and only used the firm's travel agents under protest - I could always find travel cheaper, better, and more suited to my schedule and preferences. Well, I've been bested - SR Travel and John Stewart Bowerman have won me over! I planned to travel to Wellington, New Zealand on company business to meet with a client. A couple of months in advance, I decided to stay and make it a mixed work/vacation through Christmas with my spouse. I contacted SR Travel and they assigned John to assist me with my plans - he was attentive, pleasant to work with, and courteously persistent when we had a timely deliverable to get to him (client meeting schedules, flight schedule, confirmations, etc.) John set an itinerary that was absolutely perfect for us - he met and exceeded all of our basic travel needs and desires, then he managed to surprise us every day of the trip with tailored first class perfection all the way through. It felt like a Choose Your Own Adventure book with all the best possible choices selected. William and I frequently looked at each other and marveled how amazingly well each step of our trip was unfolding. I was able to meet client demands, got personalized treatment from every B&B/hotel, and we were able to go on fantastic adventures specifically geared to our travel preferences. We made new friends at the first hike in Abel Tasman National Park. They had also used travel agencies and seemed to be on a parallel travel route to ours with similar stops. We all managed to meet up again in Queenstown at the end of our South Island loop for dinner on Christmas Eve. We compared notes with the other parties and afterwards William and I agreed that John had added a magical touch to our itinerary that surpassed the other New Zealand adventures we heard that evening. From the secluded Hapuku treehouses, whale spotting in Kaikura, walking glacier snow on Mount Cook in short sleeve shirts, a private helicopter visit to an alpine lake in Milford Sound, bicycling tipsily through Marborough wine country, and bungie jumping in Queenstown, we had an extra bit of oomph in the itinerary that made all the difference. It didn't hurt that we were pampered in every experience John lined up for us. The pacing felt leisurely and we had plenty of free time to relax and appreciate the pleasures of New Zealand. I had time to meet with clients and prospective sales opportunities, William and I had time to shop and buy as many wool products, Manuka honey, kiwi sculptures, and abalone shells as we could carry. When we were late or couldn't make an appointment, John had travel fixers along the route helping us adjust the schedule as if everything was planned just so. I'm an inquisitive person and kept tally of all the lodging and entertainment, looked up rates on the internet, and did some price shopping. It was no comparison. Even if I had known who to call or what to book at every location, I could not have personally built that itinerary at the price we paid (not even close). Thank you SR Travel for providing a luxury experience at a price we could afford and many thanks to John Stewart Bowerman for curating our best adventure yet. Thanks for converting this die-hard internet planner in the best way possible and I look forward to working with you and your team on our next global experience together.

I'm speechless as I write this. Have had the worst experience in 45 years of traveling. Booked a…read more50k trip to Greece though SR. My company has used them a bunch of times for business and so I thought I could trust them. But here is my story. We got booked into a "5 star hotel" in Mykonos, Greece and the place was maybe a 2.5-3. No bar, no restaurant, no real services and it was falling apart. So we checked out early but still had to pay thousands of dollars as it was a non refundable reservation in a country that is falling apart financially. Baffling. SR travel then booked us a new hotel but because they basically only scrape Expedia (still trying to figure out why), the new hotel didn't actually have availability. Drove across the island to a new hotel, tried to check in, no availability. So we are sitting here homeless with 3 kids on a Greek island with no reasonable hotel options in front of us. Humiliating and stressful to say the least with three young kids. I have never seen such incompetence in a professional service in my life. One disaster after another, the itinerary was all over the map, it was an absurdly expensive trip and so poorly organized that I'm now considering legal action. Gross misrepresentations have been made here, and we are literally in a mode of high stress about to pay an extra 15K to get us into an emergency situation. I could go on and on but one agent in particular, John Stewart Bowerman, has jacked up our trip in spectacular fashion. And the "after hours" service couldn't even book a room for us. Lovely.

I will agree with others that Julian…read morewas attentive and detailed as well as responsive and (initially) professional when planning our trip. Unfortunately, in addition to trip interruptions that were not his fault, nothing Julian planned for us worked out. The first hotel he booked for us was supposed to be in Dublin. It was an hour away because he said he couldn't find three beds in the city. Why, then, was he able to find one with 3 beds when we returned to Dublin? Unfortunately, we couldn't stay in that one either because it didn't fit the RV he knew we needed to park. Still, we found one within an hour that had plenty of big enough rooms and could accommodate the RV. When we decided to just book hotels ourselves (with no problems,) he took it personally and wrote me a really mean text. While on our train trip across Canada, we found out that we paid twice as much as some people for the tickets he booked. Even the train staff had never heard of such a high price, especially for how early we booked it. Finally, two hours before we were supposed to fly out of Vancouver, I discovered that Julian never booked our return flight. I thought there was no harm in using a travel agent that made their money off of commissions. I was wrong. All of the bookings that were successful were made by us through travel apps. I found out that's what Julian uses anyways; we just did it better. Regarding the problems we had that were unrelated to Julian (like a hurricane,) the trip insurance company he selected has also been problematic. Do not use tin leg insurance. Some reviews are good, except for the ones from people who actually needed to make a claim. They won't even cover the cost of the tickets Julian forgot to buy, even though they were calculated into the cost of our policy.
