I can't say enough good things about the medical and support staff at Millburn Peds. Millburn Peds has been a great fit for our family since we moved to the area 3 years ago. The support staff are always patient and helpful, the nurses are amazing with the kids, and the doctors are thoughtful, kind, and never in a rush. I am always reassured knowing they are just a phone call away - and recently when I called late in the day, they told me to come right in and saw me 10 minutes later - even though they were on the verge of closing up. My doctor called me fat after my parent left the room. Do not let your kids see Dr. Knowles, especially teen girls, if body image is an issue for them/ the family. I recently went to her for my yearly physical, she has been my primary doctor for years and I have had no issues until this year. Once my parent had left the room she kept asking me why I gained weight with the points on the chart being her only data, no labs or anything to indicate an actual medical issue caused by or influencing weight. She told me that at my age I should not be gaining weight, only losing or staying the same. She also likened my mental health medication to a weight loss drug and claimed that by now "they should be working to help me lose appetite and thus weight" even though it is a non-desired side effect that has nothing to do with why I take it. She also insisted that I should see an endocrinologist to help lose weight as well as a nutritionist to get me in a diet without any confirmation that the weight gain is a detriment to my health. I repeatedly told her that I saw no issue with my weight and she kept pushing as if it was a requirement for me to have the same skinny bodies as the rest of my family. This experience was absolutely unacceptable, for a pediatrician to have such disregard for growing people's self image and to insult them and their body repeatedly when they are alone in the room with the patient is despicable. Later that day when confronted with choice of meal I actually started crying and nearly had a panic attack because of what she said to me. This is the kind of behavior that gives people eating disorders that can kill them. After speaking with my therapist and psychiatrist about the situation and how much it affected me they informed me they knew of Dr. Knowles and that my bad experience was not the first they heard. Millburn pediatrics has been great for my three kids. Love how attentive Dr. Mangru, Dr. Bhatra and their team is. They have called me in a timely manner and addressed any medical issues going on with my kids and dont rush thru my concerns. read more

First of all I have taken by my children to Millburn Pediatrics for 12 years now. They we have had three doctors and they have been pretty good. Nothing outstanding just solid normal doctors.(best Doctor is Dr. Mangru btw-caring Dr and wonderful person. ) They take us when we have a serious illness, they help us with paperwork and usually are in the ballpark with their diagnosis. You normally have to wait at least a half hour no matter what though. The front desk is a different story. They do not work with you on times for appointment, bad tones when talking to them and overall a very low sense of human decency. Today was the last straw for me. First of all it takes a YEAR to make a well visit and they are not flexible with times. . (nothing will be taken before that). Today I had a 3pm appointment and got to the office at 3:23- (mind you I live six miles from the office with construction in Millburn/Springfield) There are always issues. They told me I was a half hour late and I said it was closer to 20 minutes. With one family in the waiting room, my visit was rejected!- I asked them your going to turn down a well visit that takes 15 minutes? There is nobody here - You guys are here until 5pm! I said I have been coming here for 12 years and I have to wait a min of 30 minutes no matter what anyway. I was shocked, I sent home my family home over 20 minutes. We've never had any complaints with the front office staff. They're a little brusque, but it's a very busy practice. Just make sure you have your information ready. We've always gotten a same day visit for sick calls so a walk in has never been necessary. Their patient portal interface is a little basic but not hard to navigate and we've always had good access to vaccine clinic appointments. We adore Dr Mangru who was highly recommended to us 6 years ago and have had great experiences with all the other doctors we've seen for sick visits. Usually about a 20-30 minute wait, which is not unexpected for a practice that tries to accommodate as many patients as possible and keep us from having to go to the ER or an urgent care unnecessarily! read more

I am so sad to write this review. I have to say I had a horrible experience. The office manager was unprofessional and rude. The doctor we saw had no idea what to do and was overwhelmed by my typical two year-old exploring his office. The nurse we had (blond hair) was the only bright spot. To be honest, if my kid were to get sick I am depressed at the thought of having to subject him and myself to this place again. I almost didn't write this review, being reluctant to criticize people who supposedly get into a profession to help people. But when I saw the other low reviews I felt like it was okay to chime in. I hope they read their reviews and make changes. I will switch as soon as I can. MP, please learn and improve - the community wants good doctors and for everyone to succeed. read more

If you visit here, pack a lunch. It takes a good hour or more to be seen by a doctor. Their scheduling department is a failure. It's the Marco Rubio of Pediatrics offices. There is no separation of sick and well kids. Not ideal as the kids are running around quite a bit. Surely there is a high-end office in the area to visit, but this isn't it. There should be 2 ratings. Dr Mangru is the best. She is lovely, gentle and never rushes us. She genuinely cares about kids. She never undermines my concerns or questions as a mother. She deserves a 5 star. The receptionist and front desk deserves 1 star at best just like everyone else says. You can't do walkins bc you get yelled at by the front desk with no appointment. They are truly awful grumpy women at the front. The only reason I keep going back is bc Dr Mangru is so great. I think she's the only reason why they have patients. read more

Very nice staff and doctors but it stops there. Fine place if you go for wellness check ups, vaccination, forms for a school. If you are sick I would look for a different place. Doctors are reluctant to send for additional tests (blood work, xrays, etc) even though they can't say why exactly a child is having fever and pain. Several doctors listened to my child's lungs claiming all was clear yet xray showed a pneumonia. Save your kid's suffering and get a doctor who at least does blood work in the office. read more

My son was born with a congenital condition of esophageal atresia which was corrected at birth. When I started at Millburn Pediatrics, Dr. Mangru had advised that she had previously worked with children born with this condition and was familiar with treating children with this condition. By age 2, my son had stopped eating and I was told that it was behavioral and that I should take my son to St. Joe's in Paterson for behavioral eating issues. At this time my son had never had behavior issues, never threw tantrums so i found it strange that this was the recommendation but it was also echoed by other doctors in the Millburn Pediatric office. My son cried every time we took him to St. Joe's he would throw up the food they forced him to eat and ran for the door so I stopped taking him. Dr. Mangru advised that I was not being a good mom and that I was letting him control me. She advised that I see another GI doctor, Dr. Tamara Feldman, who also unhelpful. Through the grace of God, I found a doctor at Boston Children's Hospital who specializes in esophageal atresia and discovered that my son's esophagus had closed and only left an opening of 3 MM which is why he stopped eating. By the time we made it to Boston Children's, we were advised that his body had used up all of the nutrients he had been born with. Shame on Dr. Mangru!!!! read more

PROS: Dr. Knowles is a fantastic, kind, knowledgeable, enthusiastic doctor. I thoroughly enjoyed our interactions with her. (If the actual doctors were the only thing to consider in this rating, they'd get 4 or 5 stars. Unfortunately, everything else about this office is a disaster.) CONS: Where do I begin? --The front desk and administrative staff are aloof, unwelcoming, and unprofessional (they do not seem at all happy to be working, or happy to see kids and patients). --The waiting room needs a serious update, as do the books/toys available to the kids. --The waiting room is important because you spend a lot of time there, waiting to be seen. It's frustrating to show up on time to an appointment and have to wait forever, which has been my experience at every appointment. --It's also frustrating to have to book your child's annual visit several months in advance (probably because there are too many patients at the practice--see waiting room issue above). --Speaking of booking appointments, the lovely administrative staff also rarely answers the phones. I have called several times during business hours and received a phone message telling me that the number was not accepting calls at that time. What??? --There is an annual document/form fee, even if if you only ask for a single, standard universal health care form to be filled out. I can understand charging a fee after the first form, or after a certain number of forms per year (maybe three?) but charging the same fee whether someone needs one simple form or ten is ridiculous and cheap. --The office's relationship to technology and putting things online is totally archaic and backward. Most good doctors offices have secure online portals that allow patients to access their records and information, but not Millburn Peds. Their website and lack of technological savvy are embarrassing. read more

I have been using this practice for my three children for 13 years. I can't say enough good things about every doctor and the office staff. After thirteen years, I know the nurses voices and can easily have questions answered that can sometimes save me a visit. A few years back one of the Doctors came in on a Sunday because they were worried about my message. Yes, sometimes you wait, but they have never not seen my child if I asked them to. Though I have no complains about the doctors who are very nice, the receptionists are extremely rude and very unprofessional. I think the doctor's office should look into this issue are try to resolve it or else they will be losing lot of customers. I would certainly expect people in health profession to have more compassion and empathy towards the patients. Worst customer service ever. read more

While the doctors at Millburn are attentive and experienced, and the staff is friendly, I am moving practices for my little one. We had 1hr+ wait on our first visit, and I get the sense that the doctor was not listening to my story in full, but drawing conclusions and talking over me before I was finished. read more

I took my kids there a couple of times and the dr. they saw seemed to be very nice. But I can't deal with the front desk. They used to have a very nice lady...but for the past a couple of times, a new lady took over. She is actually helpful and solves problems for you. But the tone is unbearable. I am an easy going person...but I demand basic respect. My advice for the office is to really figure out this issue as this is a customer facing position. My kids have gone to this pediatrician's office from birth to ages 12 and 14. We've always been very happy with the quality of the medical care, the ease of scheduling an appointment and getting a sick kid seen when necessary, and the wait times in the office. I love Millburn Peds! My children have been going there for 6 years and all the doctors always super responsive and caring. I trust them all completely.
