Only had one order from here and its been a bit. However they did get order right and green chili was great. Only issue was that even though I like a medium to hot heat chili my hubby doesn't and the "mild" chili we got for him was no different than my medium. 4 of us had a fabulous meal here today, celebrating daughter's and son-law's January birthdays. Stuffed sopapillas were enormous and the green chili was very tasty. This is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The inside of the restaurant is old, dirty, in bad need of a paint job. There is a hole in the wall at my booth where cold air blew in. When work sends me all over the state, hidden gems like Mill Stop Cafe make the drive worth all the while. After three visits it's safe to say - I'm hooked! SPACE/LOCATION: Mill Stop Cafe is located on Bay State Avenue with bars on either side and just a short drive from I-25. This area is a bit more industrialized, so it is definitely off the beaten path. Don't let it's appearance fool you - you're in for a treat! STAFF: Everyone is so damn friendly here. They always greet you with a smile and make excellent recommendations for their dishes. Meals are always brought out piping hot from the kitchen. You can tell the folks that work here are used to handling a crowd too; they are prompt with everything. FOOD: Seriously the main event! Each time I browse the menu and debate getting something new, but I am legit obsessed with the stuffed sopapillas. I get one chicken and one beef smothered in their killer green chili! The portions are huge; so I always end up with one to take home for my husband. Come hungry! They do offer a variety or other Mexican dishes, burgers, dips, and sandwiches. You'll easily find a new favorite! PRICE: For the massive portions the price is almost a steal! Everything is cooked to order and beyond delish. They also offer a daily special and an a la carte menu. Each visit runs me about $12 before tip. Not bad at all for what you get! This place was suggested when I was down in Pueblo (mid 2019). Many may miss it as it's kind of tucked away on a middle/side street with not a lot of other restaurants/places right there. I sat at the counter bar and felt like I steps back into the 50s western style-- authentic vibes. The people who were working were so kind and seem to have many regulars-- it seemed like everyone who came & went were greeted by name. They welcomed me to my first time with some menu favorites/specialities as well as complementary sopapilla dessert. I came here craving some Mexican food and this place is probably one of the better Mexican restaurants in Pueblo. I got several items including a chicken enchilada, chicken flauta, chicken taco. And I really liked all of them. I got them smothered in green chile. Even though I felt the green chile could have been a lot spicier, I enjoyed the food. My favorite part about this restaurant was the sopapilla. It has to be one of my most favorite sopapillas I've ever tasted. It's fluffy but at the same time, it has some thickness to it. I'm sorry, but I came here based on the reviews and was sorely disappointed. Let's me start by saying everyone working here was super nice, place seem to have been around forever and the staff seemed to know everyone that came in so I'm guessing it's a staple in the area. But the food was just bad sorry. I'm not a Mexican food connoisseur but I have eaten a lot of Mexican food all over the country and compared to those places this was just bad. Maybe it's a specific type or style or something but definitely not for me. First we started with the chips and salsa. The chips tasted like they were just your average commercially purchased chips. The salsa was actually 3 separate sauces in little containers not a fan of any of them except the pico was ok but such a little amount had to keep asking for more. I had the Mexican steak, said it came with rice and beans. I figured it was like a carne asada or something like that. Not even close. The steak was buried in what I'm going to call "goop" just some kind of rather flavorless... goop. The "rice" next to it was also goopified I've never seen rice like this. It's almost like they make it out of the broken up crumbs left at the bottom of the rice sack. Very mushy. All this was covered with a layer of thin crispy potatoes (which was actually the only good part). The steak itself was extremely tough. My girlfriend had beef sopapillas. Pretty much same deal with hers. Covered in the same goop, said meat inside was rather flavorless. They did bring us some fried sopapillas which I guess is included as a dessert with every meal. Those were actually very good. So it gets an extra star for great service and the dessert, but I just can't get over the flavor and texture of everything else. read more

We made it in on Friday and their Christmas vacation started on Friday! And to boot, our trip was a surprise trip in and surprised family at the Mill Stop of our arrival!
