We have used Mill Point for seven years. They are friendly, professional, straight forward, and funny. I just had two cavities filled and fell asleep in the second half of the procedures. As you sit there all kinds of animals make cameos out the window. Squirrels, rock chucks, hawks, does, fawns. I don't see how you could ask for more. BTW, I am a Bend resident. Mill Point Dental may not be the least expensive dental practice to go to, but you get what you pay for. I am self pay, belonging to their membership program. If one realizes that maintaining the health of your teeth and gums is essential for your overall health and well being, then one would place more emphasis on this area of your body. I receive an exceptional cleaning every 6 months and education/guidance on what I'm doing well and what I can improve upon. They are also proactive in my health care which I greatly appreciate. Dr. Stone performed the most expert and easiest-to-go-through crown I have ever had--and I've had a few! I can honestly say my crown was a pleasant experience. First, I had no pain and I watched a movie with her surround-vision-goggles while she worked. Next, while Dr. Stone prepared my crown, I took a lovely walk from her office along the Deschutes River. After I returned in an hour, she was ready to apply my newly minted crown. No sweat! Also, I've usually had some pain post-op for the next few days--I had no discomfort or sensitivity! I have been contemplating changing dentists for a while. Unnecessary procedures are constantly being recommended which are not covered under most dental plans. I went there for Dr. Drew, who since left, so I will be looking for a more compassionate dental office. Most recently, the staff called to confirm the costs of a procedure with little knowledge of what they were talking about. They proceeded to be defensive and say that this was "only a courtesy call." It would be nice to know that the procedure scheduled over a month ago was not covered by insurance. read more

Moved to Bend almost two years ago and like most of us, we put off our trips to the dentist. I went in to have a few crowns checked and to meet with Dr. Mike and his staff. My experience was so so pleasant from the moment I walked in! The ladies in the office were smiling and I felt very welcomed. Then I met with one of the back office assistants who was also very nice. They sat me in the chair and my view was of the Deschutes River and their "cow" named Patients! Dr. Mike has THE best bedside manner with his patients and explained things so thoroughly. My second visit to repair a crown and a filling surprisingly pleasant when considering having dental work done. They offer music listening or watching a show on Netflix with their movie goggles! The next morning after having a few procedures done I almost forgot I had anything done. No pain or soreness. Overall just a wonderful experience! I am no stranger to dental visits and when you encounter a dental practice that goes above and beyond, I felt compelled to tell my story about Dr. Chelsea Longlet, DDS and her staff at Mill Point. In my 68 years, I've been under the care of many different dental professionals (general, orthodontic, and endodontic). My frequent encounters with dental professionals is due to a freak accident that happened almost 20 years ago. Let me briefly explain, while staying at a hotel in Scotland, I had the misfortune of having a heavy wooden valance mounted above the hotel bed fall from the ceiling directly onto my face while I was sleeping that resulted in a detached lip and several broken, fractured and missing teeth. Since that accident, I had a lot of dental work - fractured teeth, root canals, crowns, braces, and a permanent retainer. As a result I have been seen by many different dental practitioners over the years. We are not new to Bend, my wife and I moved to Bend in 2013, however because we travel back and forth to California we simply have used our dentists in CA. However, that was until recently when I woke one morning and my #9 upper incisor with a crown and metal post had spontaneously rotated counterclockwise making it difficult to eat with the risk that it would crack or fall out. Being away from our dentists and a vacation to Europe the following week, there was some urgency in getting this corrected. We had no provider for a referral and needed to find someone urgently. After a quick search for orthodontists and dentists posted on "NextDoor", my wife and I decided to contact Struble Orthodontics since we thought the tooth moving was an orthodontic issue since my permanent retainer bar had shifted prior. Fortunately, there was a cancellation and Dr. Struble in Redmond and saw me the next day. After a very thorough exam by Dr. Struble, she concluded my retainer shifting had nothing to do with the incisor crown moving and she referred me to Mill-Point Dental in Bend, but could I get an appointment and have it fixed in a week? Dr. Struble said she would see what she could do to get me an appointment asap. Fortunately, Mill-Point had a cancellation and Dr. Chelsea Longlet, DDS was able to squeeze me in for an assessment that SAME day. Her diagnosis was that the crown and metal post would need to be removed to determine the cause and they would again squeeze me in around there very busy schedule the next day 8 AM. I cannot say how professional Dr. Longlet and her staff, associate technician Kristen and hygienist Cassandra. The dental issue turned out not to be trivial. They removed my crown, but were not able to remove the mental post since it had somehow bent inside the root canal (which was the cause of the shift). Wanting to avoid wearing a temporary tray with a fake tooth during my vacation, she and her staff worked on getting this stubbornly stuck metal post for the next ~ 6 hrs. After a consultation from a local endodontic, they recommended applying sonication to the metal post. Dr.Longlet was eventually able to remove the post, put a new synthetic one in and mill a new crown (all in their office and that SAME day in 1 hr). While no one would want to voluntarily spend this much time at the dentist the same day, I think some dentists would have easily given up, but not Dr. Longlet. The outcome avoided the worse case scenario and was above and beyond what I could have expected. There was never any pain or discomfort involved and I was quite comfortable the whole time. They all were very friendly and highly skilled dental professionals with an excellent technical and office staff, (Joy and Sara) and state of the art dental equipment. As I mentioned before, I would know since I have been to many dental offices over the years. The most impressive part is that they really cared for me the patient and went the extra mile to resolve my problem. I cannot think of a way to express how much I appreciated the expert care they provided me and how they dealt with it in an urgent manner. I am the biggest coward in the world, and he and the staff are the kindest, most helpful, generous, personable and professional folks I have ever had the pleasure of working with in dental care. Dr. Drew explains everything to you beforehand and during procedures and is most gentle in dealing with cowards like me! They are always willing to work with you and make your experience as painless as possible in both the dental work and the financial side as well. They don't make a move without getting your okay. Fortunately, I found Mill Point Dental, and from arranging my initial appointment, to actually meeting Dr. Mike Longlet and his amazing team this past week, I now know I'm in excellent hands. Dr. Mike took a true interest in who I am, and really spent sufficient amount of time reviewing all of my dental records, etc. I also have to give 5 Stars to Cassandra, who is the best dental hygienist I've ever encountered. Lastly, the office location is easy to get to, sufficient parking, and the views out of the dental chair are calming. What a godsend Dr. Longlett has been for me! I have an extreme fear of dentist. In 32 years, I went to a dentist once, (ten years ago which included IV sedation) because of my fear. It's been 22 years since then and I knew I had to go. I found Dr. Longlett and in just 2 appointments he washed away 40 years of fear. He is extremely kind, patient and treats you like a friend who actually listens. He answered all of my MANY questions w/o making me feel I was wasting his time. I chose him when calling around because he does use nitros when needed (and that was a must for me) and ALL of his staff was so nice, reassuring and accommodating. It took me calling 6 different dentist offices before finding Dr. Longlett. The other offices I had called first were 'customer service nice' and that's all I will say about that. The staff at Dr. Longletts office was not 'customer service nice', they were genuine and really concerned about me, and in person they are even nicer. I'm sorry for this novel, but take it from me, Dr. Longlett is an awesome man who truly cares about his patients. The kind of Doctor who called the day after just to check on me. He also is a great dentist and my teeth haven't felt better. I now know that going to the dentist doesn't have to hurt. Bottom line, I have an appointment in January and I'm not afraid, I will not be crying all the way there AND I will not need nitros.
