Michael Reynolds, is a dentist with a conscience. He does not recommend care that's not necessary like so many dentists do.

I have OHP which is basically useless for dental so I needed to find a place with an in-office…read moreplan. Alpenglow's is $100 to start then $35 a month which gets you 2 cleanings and x-rays each year and 15% off anything else. My x-rays were quite the adventure. I gagged one time which is normal for me. But the very nice and well-meaning hygienist wanted to help. She asked for a shaker of salt. Someone else in the office said she had one. She then comes over with a test tube of "salt" to put on my tongue to distract me so I wouldn't gag. I was highly suspicious... so I tasted some. It was citric acid. SO acidic it burned. They told me they were going to put a stripe of it on my tongue! So glad I stopped them! Just putting the story here so you can also stop them because wow that would have been awful if I'd just trusted them and had a mouthful of citric acid I expected to be a quick shake of salt. Besides that, I saw Jennifer Montgomery and really liked her. She taught me how to unlock my jaw which no one has ever taught me and I've had jaw issues since childhood. She did a thorough cleaning and didn't diagnose any problems that weren't there which is a huge problem in dentistry. Glad I found someone I can trust!

Weeks ago I had my 2nd and LAST dental appointment at AlpenGlow Dental in Bend. Here is why I call…read moreit LAST: I chose AlpenGlow when I was having trouble with Advantage Dental in La Pine. They had staffing issues. Covid was to blame and having a dentist from Portland who had to drive during snow season didn't help. Reading the good reviews of AlpenGlow, I went for my new patient appointment to get my teeth cleaned there on May 25, 2023. Due to a series of medical emergencies I had to cancel the next cleaning appointments but I went to them on November 14, 2024 and left feeling sad. After seeing what was the X-ray technician, then dentist who did gum check (I thought she was the hygienist because I never had a dentist do this), then I briefly saw THE hygienist as she peaked in the room to say she didn't have time to do my scheduled cleaning as I "needed deep cleaning that would require two appointments". I heard horrible gum numbers I have never heard in my life. I later showed my daughter the estimate and she said it was the 2nd high estimate she heard from them recently. I'm in my 70s and I have had some long-term dentists. I miss the one who retired as he took care of me and my four kids for over 27 years. I know the routine. Most dental appointments have been good for me, but I didn't feel good about the last appointment with AlpenGlow. I felt hustled and I don't even remember their names, if they gave them to me. No small talk. I also wasn't even shown my X-rays which I later realized no dentist has ever done that to me. I was told the X-rays were in the other room I didn't get to go into. Other dentists would have shown them and explained my options. Not sad now. My teeth were cleaned in one appointment by another dentist, and I felt the way I have about the good professional dentists/hygienists in my life and I'm going to return there. Saw my X-rays, no rush. Merry Christmas to me--I saved over $900! So glad I got a 2nd opinion. I got a normal cleaning with the addition of a deep clean of two teeth, not four sections. I only had a topical to help with pain on those two teeth. This is the first time in my life to be told I needed a deep cleaning. I realized that it had been almost one year and six months since they were last professionally cleaned. But somehow I needed a deep cleaning of two teeth. A few teeth below needed a little extra attention but nothing like those two teeth. I have never felt the need for a second opinion but I'm glad I got one. The office of AlpenGlow has a beautiful vista, but I am not willing to help pay for it.

I had decided on dentures after years of pain and she assured me this was something she could do. A full upper was done. She then told me my four front lower teeth had to go and she could make me a lower partial that looked like a retainer. So she extracted those as well. $8500.00 later she out right refused to finish my bottom partial. Her treatment coordinator simply replied to every question I had with " You have been referred to another dentist." Dr. Theda was paid in full for this work both by my insurance and in cash by me. I have no idea why she referred me. My insurance will not pay twice for same procedure and I am left withOUT four bottom front teeth. The office did offer me a refund but it was so little I can not make my mouth whole until I save enough money to pay for the copays at another dentist. They grew up over 100 years ago. This gave me a strong drive to maintain my teeth. After a bad dental report from another office, I called Bend Family Dentistry hoping to get a 2nd opinion. Weeks later I walked out of Bend Family Dentistry on 3rd Street in Bend, my teeth properly cleaned and I'm smiling. I witnessed confident employees who love their jobs. I highly recommend Bend Family Dentistry. They provide excellent quality work, show compassion and listen to you, and their prices are reasonable. I understand and recognize good communicators of professionalism. Thank you Bend Family Dentistry!

But the view isn't the reason my hubby and I have been patients at River Park for the last seven years. The reason for that is the top notch dental care we receive from Dr. Ben Grieb and his staff. Including the patient chair side staff like dental hygienist Kathy, who does a stellar job of keeping our teeth clean and polished - we each go in three or four times a year to see her and once you've been her patient you see why she has a waiting list. Also, dental assistant Lorraine, who flawlessly assists Dr. Grieb when we need a procedure done, like a beautiful crown I just had "installed". Also the office staff, including Marcie who keeps insurance and personal billing coordinated and Mona who keeps appointments lined up and on the two occasions when my hubby had emergencies was able to get him in the door in nearly an eye blink. Front office staff make a big difference in patient satisfaction with a medical practice whether we all realize it or not. Another reason is that the office is both serene and bubbling with enthusiasm for patient care at the same time. That may sound odd, but you can sense it in the patients too, the good energy everyone seems to have about being there. And let's face it, going to the dentist is not something one looks forward to doing. But River Park slogan, "We treat you like family" really is borne out in the patient care. Still another reason is that the technology used for patient exams and procedures is all in place to provide state of the art dentistry. Not to mention the entire place, from waiting room through exam rooms is sparkling clean. That matters to us in medical offices. But in the end, it all boils down to how one feels about the dentist in charge. We have a lot of confidence in Dr. Grieb who has a high level of skill in dentistry technique as well as chair side manner that are the result of experience in dental practice combined with a passion for excellence in outcome. He is a top notch practitioner and one has the sense that he is completely vested in each patient's care. We appreciate his advice and the time he takes to explain options, we trust his expertise, and we are always extremely pleased with the quality outcome of his work. And it occurs to me, as I write this review, to share that something my husband and I both appreciate is that as a procedure is being done, Dr. Grieb explains what he is doing at each step. Great protocol to relieve patient anxiety, it seems to us! If you're living in Bend and looking for a dental office for top notch dental care, we happily use Yelp to refer you to Dr. Grieb and River Park Family Dentistry.

From the front office, billing, scheduling, cleaning, and the amazing Porter super Doc's who do the work when things need fixing. I can not say enough good things about this office and staff. My last visit was spectacular. I'm a nervous wreck when it comes to getting fillings. Cleanings are easy, and a cake walk. That said when there is an issue that needs to be fixed I could not be more confident that the staff here has me covered. I had a small cavity that was addressed before it became a problem and a pair of fillings that failed from a previous local dentist. Dr. Maureen Porter and her amazing assistant (I am supper sorry, I totally forgot to ask her name) did an amazing job. It was what you would hope for in this case, the Doc caught the issue early and it was a easy fix, she even fixed the tooth gap that caused some minor food gathering, I know nasty right, but easier to eat now. Some of the best Novocain administration I've ever had, never felt a thing. During the entire procedure the team was both informative and caring during the entire procedure. They also can translate grunts, mouth full of implements mumbling, and unskilled hand jesters quite well. Let me part with this, I have had my share of not so awesome dentists. I can say with out hesitation this office one of the best places I have had the pleasure to be treated at. - Look at my reviews, I rarely complain about the bad, it has to be a complete poop show for me to complain. I will promote at positive interaction in a heart beat. As far as positive goes, this office is my number one top of the amazing list.

Later, my dentist wagged her finger at me and told me this was the result of not correcting my bite years earlier when she first advised me to get braces. I was not a happy camper when I showed up at Struble Orthodontics. My feelings about getting braces when I was easily 4 or 5 times the average age of the other patients was evident in my "Before" photos. 18 months later, my feelings about being freed from those braces were-equally evident in my "After" photos. Braces are inconvenient for everyone. However, I am certain that braces are especially trying when you are an adult. At no time was wearing those braces pleasant. There were times when wearing them felt like the most-painful and psychologically-difficult of any of my life's experiences. Despite that, I do not regret having put myself in Dr. Struble's hands. My dentist recommended Dr. Struble on the basis of her 'finishing' work -- the final subtle adjustments to the teeth before they are considered done. That recommendation turned out to be true in my case. I was very pleased with the final results, as was my own dentist. I would recommend Dr. Struble for adults seeking braces. You might not enjoy the process, but you will be in good hands.
