If I had known about the bats, I would've visited sooner. This park has stocked ponds and fishing. I was there for almost 2 hours. All of these photos are taken in sequence with the intention of giving you a sense of what it's like to walk through the park and loop around to the sidewalk that runs down Maple, then re-enter the park and exit. We went in early December, so it was definitely chilly and muddy from the rain the day before. However, we wore good hiking shoes, so we were dry at least. Trail took about 2 hours round trip, and the trail was dirt/rocks but easy enough for kids. Bring: water, snacks, appropriate clothes depending on the weather, dog! I brought a beanie, gloves, and warm clothes for the hike in December. I would avoid going on rainy days or if it recently rained. Mud will slow you down. There are little info boards posted along the trails - nice read. Great trail for a short walk. I hear it gets crowded during the weekends and good weather days. Go early!

What I found here, though, was quite underwhelming & almost awkward. Besides the posts outlining the trails & historical bio- it's literally a set of steep, trail stairs down to a dirt path that expands according to the map. So, you'd actually need to plan on being able to do one of the hiking trails to see much of anything significant or worthwhile, I guess? I think it would be fun to try & hike, but hopefully there is something better beyond the trailhead view.

Benches are located throughout the trail and there's plenty of plants and birds that inhabit the area. Bethine Church, who died in December 2013, was a tireless advocate for conserving and protecting public lands. It was fitting that the unpaved trail was named after her.

The trail is open from sunrise to sunset. In the nearby ponds we've seen ducks and swans. You can exit the trail into adjacent neighborhoods or continue on the Greenbelt trail system.

Art in the Park at Julia Davis Park…read more Art in the Park at Julia Davis Park is such a fun experience! The event is right along the Boise Greenbelt, so you can stroll through all the incredible art vendors and then enjoy a walk around the large, beautiful park. Fun fact: Julia Davis Park is the oldest park in Boise, established in 1907, and it's still one of the city's most popular gathering spots. There were so many vendors with a big variety of artwork, with something for every taste. I even found the perfect gift for my step-dad-in-law: a mountains and sun piece made out of different kinds of rocks. If you're an art lover, this event is a must-go-to. Another bonus is how easy it is to explore the area. You can rent e-bikes and e-scooters nearby to cover more ground. And every time we go, we always stop to see the giraffes at Zoo Boise, which is right next to the park. It makes for a full day of art, nature, and fun. Great place for families and anyone who wants to soak in Boise's creative and community vibe!

Large trees keep it cool, perfect for picnic, reading in the park, sitting next to a big Lincoln statue, play area, tennis, or just taking a stroll. It's very close to the zoo, art museum, and two history museums, all worthy attractions on their own! Across the street from the library as well on capital. It's the cities oldest park. It was created by a donation of 43 acres in 1907 from Thomas Davis.

I've been to the Old Idaho Penitentiary; I've been to the Botanical Gardens; I've been to Table…read moreRock; but, until today, I had never been to (or even noticed) this park which is within walking distance of all three! What an great little park! A large expanse of field for all your recreational needs (there were kids playing soccer while we were there and still plenty of field to enjoy). They have a great play ground with equipment flanked by benches and surrounded by trees so you can easily sit and watch the kiddos at play in the shade. There is a nice covered picnic area (conveniently adjacent to the bathrooms) where you could enjoy a little alfresco picnic style dining (or even reserve for an outdoor party or gathering). They have a single basketball court. And, there's even a couple tennis courts for those who like to volley their way to a little game-set-match. The parking area is rather small, but the parking at the Table Rock trailhead is also quite close if overflow was needed. Overall a great park, with great amenities, in an awesome location. Get to it!

Lots of camping sites, a couple boat docks, and even a free life vest loaner area. I only went down for the afternoon, but I would camp there for sure. Most of the camping areas are not big enough for more than one vehicle, but they are nice right up against the river. Lots of picnic grass area with tables. Overall the area is really nice and I would go camping there.

Worth to stop by and see The Birds of Prey. It's a family place, you can bring lunch and enjoy…read morethe day. The birds were amazing, the Falcon exhibit was educational. Wished I knew that fall is the best time to visit, because they said that's when more birds are displayed by doing outside demonstrations.
