I enjoyed my visit, but I think it's important to note that this is less a museum than a cultural center. So it has a great cafe (Bjork Cafe & Bistro), a great gift shop (I picked up a modern take on the Dala horse), and a small gallery space (when we visited, the exhibit was "Nordic Echoes - Tradition in Contemporary Art"), which is free to visit. But it also hosts events - concerts, lectures, workshops, etc. So if you're looking for a quick visit, stop by for a quick visit to the gallery, the gift shop, and the cafe for drink, snack, or meal. Walking in, I must've looked visibly confused because the woman at the window called me over to describe the venue. I ended up perusing the first floor with its Nordic goods and picked up some Swedish candy, a few cookies and a macchiato for o go. Parking fills up quickly. They have an overflow lot a few blocks away, but it's an uphill walk to get back to the park. It's a great place to have a picnic. Lots of families and kids. We ate lunch at the cafe, but weren't super impressed by the food. The chipotle chickpeas were bland. The paper menus also didn't match what was actually available at the register. The line to order was quite long, but the wait for the food wasn't the worst. They had lots of seating indoors and a nice outdoor patio with more tables. We walked a few of the trails. Most were unpaved. We managed fine with a stroller, but the paths were a bit rocky. To see several sections, you need to climb stairs so a stroller was not the most convenient. The view of the Hudson, from both the upper and lower terraces, is wonderful and great for taking pictures. It was spring so they had tulips in bloom. Their shady grove of trees was cool to check out. I also loved the upper gardens.

Christine's Critters is a wonderful organization for the sustainability of wildlife in the northeastern region of the country. Jessica greeted me when I entered. She gave me insight into the gallery snd Daido's work. Very welcoming atmosphere. There's not much to say. I like the artist style and enjoyed viewing his unpublished work from 1975-1978. If you want information you can find Yoshii Gallery on line. They advise anyone interested in the exhibit to call the gallery.

It's a two-fold reason why the museum charges no admission every Saturday: 1) their intent is to make exhibits accessible to everyone, and 2) this aligns with the principle of no exchange of money on Shabbat. As such, the gift shop and basement cafe are both closed then. A juxtaposition of exhibits, Joan Semmel's work with themes of body and intimacy, is on the ground floor. Interesting! As well as other exhibits that I hadn't previously seen. I was unexpectedly there for a couple of hours. I was pleased to see people of different heritages enjoying the museum. It's a worthwhile visit, and now that it's warming up you might want to stroll through Central Park across the street, afterwards.

The exhibit was well arranged and focused on the political side of his work -- I had not previously understood that he was one of the targets of the Nazi campaign against degenerate art, and many of his works beginning in the early 1930.s first in Germany and then in exile in Switzerland. was devoted to indirect or very direct criticisms of Nazi ideology. we also enjoyed the extensive display of menorahs.
