I just wanted to write an update (which is RIDICULOUSLY overdue): The owner of Mildred and Dildred reached out to me personally to apologize for the experience my son had at her store. And then she went one step further and sent my son a toy train, which I gave to him for Christmas. We will definitely give M&D another try next time we're at La Encantada. I love this place even more. I stopped in to buy a birthday gift for a 6 year old. I got her a cute little jump rope and bracelet. When checking out they asked if I wanted it gift wrapped and it was like an answer to all my problems as the next place I needed to go was the post office to mail the gift. They did such a fantastic job wrapping the awkwardly shaped boxed. They do it in brown paper and high quality ribbon and it is so so so cute. And it's free, amazing. read more

Seriously the most adorable toy store on the planet!! M&D makes me wish I had young kids again! This is one top-shelf toy store if you're looking for that one unique toy that you can't find anywhere else. I came in looking for something special for a friend who just had a baby. The actual baby section wasn't that large and the rattles, socks, blankets, etc. were pretty pricey, so I took a different route. Having said that, I knew things would be pricey. Not only is it at La Encantada, but the items are usually hand made and from Germany which equals money. If you are coming to shop, keep that in mind. I ended up finding two of my all-time favorite children's books which I decided to purchase. It ended up being the perfect choice. Like I said, the toys for babies are limited so if you're looking for 2 and up, you're in luck. They have a very eclectic selection and a wide range of items for both girls and boys. M&D makes it fun for adults to come and browse! They also do a great job of gift wrapping anything you purchase for free!! Keep it up M&D!! I have nothing but amazing things to say about this toy store. My daughter is a huge fan of Jellycat brand stuffed animals and they always have an abundance to choose from. This store is fantastic for children of all ages and have all different price points for the perfect gift. They also do complimentary gift wrapping. Sure, I could go to a big box store and pay a few bucks less but I would much rather shop local and support this shop. Mildred & Dildred will always be a La Encantada stop for us! read more

There is a magical feeling as you walk in the door, they have great toys that are high-quality and not always found in big-box stores, and the staff is amazing. We stopped in here to find a gift for our 4 year old niece who lives in another state. It's a really cute and well laid out store...not too big to where you're overwhelmed, but lots of great things to chose from. The staff could not have been more helpful! When I described our niece, Autumn led us to 5 or 6 really great items to choose from. The free (and very nice) gift wrapping was an added bonus. This is what a toy store should be! Very much a toy store of probably every child's dream. Plus, there are different priced options, so not everything is extremely expensive. Better quality than those 'big box' toy stores. Love the fact that it is organized by age, and one can quickly find the age-appropriate section of toys they want. Wow what a cute store! Everyone here is exceptionally friendly and helpful. They had the perfect gift I needed and at a great price.

This place was really cool. Great vibe. First the design and decorations really grab your attention. I felt like a kid! The selection was huge and I found so many things to get my grandkids. My daughter likes to buy toys NOT from China. This store has mostly toys from Europe which have higher standards for safety and toxicity. They even had a few play areas set up so the kiddos can play while you shop. I often bring my grandkids here to play and buy a small item just to have something to do for a little bit. I ended up buying all the kids Christmas gifts here last winter. It cost a little more than online, but they do have to pay rent and it was so easy buy and they wrap. XMAS shopping done! With online you have to pay extra for wrapping and its not as "cute". My grandkids and daughter were happy with their gifts, they looked better quality then something at Walmart. I was happy and will shop again. read more

I cannot recommend this children's store enough. They've been one of my favorite stores in Tucson for years --- they have a wonderful selection of kid's books and great toys. I love that they have a table with toys that kids can play with while in the store. That table has allowed my daughter to find some hidden gems. We placed an order from them right as the Coronavirus pandemic started. I went to their website to look at what they had, but having been in the store many times, I knew how much more they had in-store that was not listed on the website. I messaged them to ask if they would just send me some photos of the store so that I could virtually shop just as if I were wandering around the store. They did! The owner sent me 35 photos of the store! Just WOW. I had so much fun looking at those photos and figuring out what to get. I am totally impressed at how gracefully they have been handling this challenging time. They are totally responsive to customers. They will deliver orders to you. They have even been posting virtual story times, which my daughter loves. I hope to continue shopping here for years to come. read more

What a perfect children's toy and book store. We spent over an hour in here exploring and buying so many unique items. A must visit!

This is exactly the toy store that I would expect to find in La Encantada. This isn't a Toys R Us, that's for sure! They have wonderful toys for all ages. Many come from Germany--renowned for their toy-making prowess. There's your standard types of toys, your wooden toys, your plush dolls, your blankie-based items, your puzzles, and everything in between. The Playmobil selection is out-of-this-world-WONDERFUL! I miss my giant bin full of these things and contemplated starting a new collection after seeing their selection. The staff are attentive, friendly, and genuinely know their toys and store. To give you an idea, the lovely young lady who helped me had tattoos... OF TOYS! Prices are a bit on the steep side. But really, you are paying for the quality found in the offerings. These are real toys, not the junk you find in a single isle of a big box store. Lastly, I was so excited to see that they do special events here. There's a regularly held story night. And plays performed in the courtyard (if you haven't been to La Encantada, the courtyard is one of the best for a Tucson shopping center!). And of course, all these events are very much kid friendly. This is a place to shop locale! Autum is one of the original Tiggy Winks and does a great job at her new shop. Its just a fun place with something for everyone. I especially love the junk draws with dollar stuff. The kids love going to either a play or a lego figure trading event or just to look around. There is always something going on and you always feel welcome. They have books, retro toys, wood toys, baby toys, fairy stuff and a great selection of playmobil and lego. A little on the pricey side, but understandable considering the location and the quality of the toys. My kids love coming in here. Wide selection too! I have been to m&d before and they have always had great customer service. Yesterday I walked in because my daughter dirtied her clothes and I had to put on a backup set. Her pants were falling off of her. I walked in to m&d and asked if they sold belts. She said no but she said that that have ribbon from their gift wrapping and that might work. She matched 2 ribbon colors with my daughters outfit and cut me a makeshift belt for free. She went above and beyond and didn't charge me a cent. M@D have rare toys and the BEST customer service.
