I haven't been to a bookman in years, so I decided to try this one in while I'm in Tucson. It was larger than I imagined. It was quite crowded. If you're looking for all used books, games, equipment. This would be the place to browse. I came on a weekend so maybe that was why I was busy. The service was nice as I had tried to see what I could get for some gaming items. You definitely get more in credit versus cash. The value was OK but it did not work for me.

Recommend: Yes. Be prepared to walk, stroll and get lost. Love it for that! Presentation: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Efficiency: 5/5 Customer Service: 5/5 Price: 3/5 If you know about Bookmans, you know, if you don't, WELCOME! This place is absolutely amazing and the various collectibles, LP's, local art, paperbacks, hardbacks, electronics and trade in counter is a massive enterprise IMO, a better place to go than the mall! The entertainment draw here is huge, the doors are constantly flexing with arrivals and honestly, even though I live about 35 minutes away, whenever my daughters are back in town, we ALWAYS drive up to this location like a heard of (name your animal LOL...) whatever, and walk about endlessly for at least an hour. You're gonna find SOMETHING interesting here in the store! While you may not get entirely what you think a value is on something should you be considering a trade-in, remember, they have to make a profit too so when you consider the work of a garage sale, or nothing from dropping something off at a Goodwill, at LEAST you can get instant credit or cash for whatever it is! I still very much appreciate that a local business does that! The store is huge, various nostalgic items going all the way back to a 1970's Colleco-Vision game unit, to every current console game you can imagine and even pricey LP turntables if you're into that. What makes these Bookman's special is the plethora of various items, obviously the majority being books, but the countless little things, everywhere, LITERALLY everywhere so looking around, you'll be surprised at what's offered here. I will note, the 'Trade In Counter' location, really had an unappealing presence to it, with piles of items collected so I digress, it could look better, but the customer service there was, as always, excellent and helpful walking my wife and I directly to the locations for the books we were looking for. The staff works hard here, the aisles are huge, and the only thing missing is some general seating and they would likely benefit if they had a tea or coffee cafe because what goes great with this atmosphere but a drink to share among friends??!! C'mon Bookmans, people have been asking for years... wink, wink. :-) P.S. Bring your kids; don' t forget there are always a Children's Section in both of these Bookmans!

Bookmans is one of the best local spots to head to so you can find used books, movies, music, instruments, comics, and so many other surprises around the store. Their displays are always relevant and updated and they have a decent selection. The staff are very helpful and there is a separate counter where you can drop off your used items to exchange for store credit or cash, depending on what is accepted. Please keep an eye out for prices since some are priced higher if they are new/unused books! Most of their used novels tend to range from $7.50 to $12 depending on their condition. I highly recommend stopping by and picking up a few new (used) reads!

Always a favorite stop! Took granddaughter in to get some books and movies. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Will be coming in soon to see what new selections they have in.

This NEW location is TWO former locations merged into ONE. Very clean and well-organized. Friendly staff. Plentiful parking. Nice restrooms too - a door code is needed to use the restrooms. I wonder if there was a Starbucks next door, because the restrooms smelled like coffee nearby. LoL! I am a HUGE fan of Bookmans, with Mesa being my favorite hands down. This location is pretty big. The vibe is difference than the other one on Speedway. There are NOT as many collectible toys here as Speedway, Mesa, and Northern, but the area is near the front if you are hunting Funko, action figures, Star Wars, Marvel, Legos, etc. They do have a LOT of books and a nice selection of random gift items too. Pricing is reasonable. New and used items. A FUN visit!

I recently dropped into the brand new Bookmans on River and it was an excellent experience! I could literally spend hours in a Bookmans because there is so much to see from books, to musical instruments, to local artwork. It never gets old! This location is exceptional and it feels larger than some of the other locations I've visited up in Phoenix/Mesa. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Tucson!

Bookman's outdid themselves. This new location is super chill with a great vibe. Tons of new and used books, records, musical instruments and more (gifts, magazines, t shirts....). And the location is perfect. I am so happy for this old fashioned style bookstore with lots of books (every topic under the sun!) and crannies for enjoying your favorite books.

Staff was unhelpful and had some sort of weird attitude thing going on....maybe there was something going on with them. Still, strange vibe.

The prices haven't changed a whole lot since I was little which is nice. I love their book buying program and have existed solely on store credit for years now. I love bringing my old stuff in and shopping while they evaluate it. I live in Oregon now but I make sure to hang on to my credit slips for my next visit. The parking lot is huge but it can still be hard to find a spot on weekends. The store is clean, as are the bathrooms. The people working here are a real delight and are always super friendly and ready to help out with whatever you need. I will always be a Bookmans fan as long as they exist.

Presentation: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Efficiency: 5/5 Customer Service: 5/5 Price: 5/5 As every Tucsonian knows, this is a second hand store that has a LOT to offer everyone. Whether it's a magazine, Fender Stratocaster guitar, 1980's metal cassette tapes, LP's, maybe a graphing calculator?? - puzzles, entire decades of video games and miscellaneous wires and controllers, or even a an odd book mark, THIS is the place! There are ONLY two Bookmans left in Tucson, and even through the pandemic, these places bring in the crowds. Sometimes the prices aren't much of a bargain, so check online if that's important otherwise the inventory if huge here. The customer service is always top notch, today I was looking for a coin collecting book and sure enough, they had it; and knew EXACTLY where, on what shelf it would be all from communication from the counter. The staff are all knowledgeable, you and they offer an Educator's discount of 20% if you're in that line of work and as many may not know, you can Trade in nearly anything there! And while the plethora of people are constantly working those front doors, the lack of general seating is something I don't think the management sees properly. People are always looking for a spot to sit as the store is huge; management, please, seriously take note! Summary: Wonderful place, no drink counter (management..!?) great customer service and a dedicated spot to bring your children and get them interested in books! Would absolutely recommend this place, especially if you're new to Tucson!

I was born and raised here in Tucson and I can't believe it's taken me this long to head in. As an educator, I immediately explored the young readers section, and I was very impressed with both the books for sale and the other items for sale. I grabbed a funny cat themed tote bag (priced well!) and found a sci-fi book. The space is welcoming and encourages time exploring and looking at books, which I love! Also, they have a huge collection of used and cheaper books! I felt great about spending my money on a locally, female owned bookstore instead of big corp. Next time you are in need of a book, of any sort, a little gift for someone or a card, pay this fun little business a visit!

I am always happy to find bookstores as I am one of those people who like to touch my books when I read and enjoy book art.

Anyways, I stopped in for a journal and found a beautiful blue leather lined journal with a fleur-de-lis on the cover. Then I stumbled across a "part-time" adult daily planner that was undated. Normally I wouldn't go for undated but this one spoke to me. The store is laid out really well and is very spacious. I appreciated the small Hanukkah display that was available. This is where things went a little sideways for me as I looked at the items on display. Two parties have a responsibility here, the buyer, Barnes & Noble, and the supplier, Paper Source. I'm so confused as to why either party believed an ornament was appropriate here. For what? We don't have anything or celebrate for which we would use an ornament. A Hanukkah bush is not a thing. The other thing that confused me was the with challah. Such weird items for Hanukkah. There isn't nor should there be an equivalent for every Christmas item to Hanukkah. They are not the same thing and there is no equivalence. Other than these weird Hanukkah items, if I were in the area again and needed to come back to BN, I would definitely stop in here. And per contract/usual, there was a decent sized Sbux cafe inside the store. One which I will never visit since I do not give my business to Sbux.
