What should have been a fairly easy move became complicated and confused. I was living with my…read morefather in a small apartment, and I needed to return to my own home. The only designations for the items were to go to my home or Goodwill. Easy, right? All the furniture basically was designated to go to Goodwill. I was told by Tony Lowe that it wasn't good enough for Goodwill. There were cherry pieces, a hutch, end tables and a nightstand that were original Pennsylvania House furniture purchased in Terryville, Connecticut. This was like insulting my parents themselves. The furniture was nicked up in the previous move as we went with a more discount mover. However, it certainly was good enough for Goodwill or better. This person brought about seven college-aged guys with him which I thought was ludicrous for a small move. So instead of giving my instructions once I had to say the same things repeatedly. The guys were very nice, although their boss was pompous, condescending, insensitive, and was even laughing at me. From the start he was a rude jerk. I never remember a move being this bad. I was in a lot of pain, soon to be followed by much more pain because the movers left a lot of stuff behind that I had to manually move myself. The whole job felt rushed because they told us repeatedly that they were on their way to another job which sounded much more important, a mansion as one of the guys said. My sister who hired this mover must not have read the other negative reviews. I had a simple request for a special litter box to be brought over. I bagged up the clean litter and put it inside the litter box. Things are expensive now, and I don't have money to waste. Tony basically laughed in my face, and they threw away the litter box, I'm sure. My mother's special pink stool that I shouldn't have entrusted to them, never made it to my home. I believe some special Christmas ornaments, as well, never made it to my home. It would have gone much smoother with maybe two or three guys at the most. Too many cooks spoil the soup! Many items were left unlabeled, and my sister had indicated that boxed items would be labeled. I did as much preparation as I could in advance. My sister, being the POA, received and paid the bill. I asked to know the amount, but I never received an answer. It's probably outrageous. Then I needed to tip the guys so they didn't get that much because I had $105 on me which had to be divided 7 ways. This bill and tip were my dad's to cover, unfortunately.

I made it clear that I had a lot of large, heavy furniture and I also told them the sizes of the two storage units that I wanted emptied and brought to my new house. I specifically asked if it would all fit and if they would make multiple trips. I was quoted a price for six hours including tax. They did bring most of the large, heavy stuff but took NONE of the boxes. Now I am left to empty half of a 10x25 unit in MANY trips in my car. Not only that, but one of the movers spent a lot of time trying to get out a splinter (using tweezers that I offered) and using the bathroom and the other guy stood around waiting for him. This caused me to be charged for an extra hour. I'm grateful for what they did, but it wasn't as much as I was expecting. I'm older and on a limited budget so I went with the lower priced option because she said they would handle it, but they didn't and now my arthritic knees and back are paying for it.

We went to several stores, had to wait for a salesperson and then had a hard time getting questions answered. Then luckily we went to Floor Craze and immediately had the manager's full attention. He showed us a a great selection, ranging from gorgeous high-end wool carpeting and wood flooring to stylish ceramic tile for the mudroom. He explained all the options, including the pros and cons, and gave us a very specific, detailed quote for each room, including taking out the existing flooring, and installing the padding and new flooring. Their prices are surprisingly reasonable! As soon as he placed the order for each room, he gave us frequent updates on delivery and installation times. The whole crew was warm, friendly, efficient and very professional from delivery through installation through cleanup. Everything was delivered and installed on time and perfectly.The rug for our entry had to be re-cut and rebound twice, for example, due to changes during renovation, and Floor Craze did that seamlessly within a couple of days, both tones. We had already packed things in boxes and brought over delicates ourselves. But they had plenty of furniture and boxes to bring over still, including some big and heavy items (enough to fill a 26ft truck). They were very careful with the full size wine fridge (200lbs). My large desk had to be disassembled because it wouldn't fit through the door, but they took care to reassemble it properly. Nothing got broken and no damage to the walls or stairs.
