It was whilst on one of these walks I discovered Reflexion Shisha Lounge. The lounge is extremely well run and the interior is immaculate. A posher version of Rusholme's Shisha cafe offerings is how I'd probably describe it. The Scene Indian kitchen shisha terrace probably gives it a run for its money but I think Reflexion wins out, just! The quality of the shisha is very good and despite it being a tad more expensive, given the waterside views is worthwhile. As well as Shisha they also have an extensive F&B menu although it's diffficult to see anyone venturing here for that alone if you're not into shisha. This place has definately given me more of a reason to explore what this locale has to offer.

Dance off, being £1 entry, sold it for me. Doubles for £3, a range of sambucas £1.50? Messy. Dance off saw a battle between three major DJs, strangerways, good vibrations and juicy DJs playing a mix of Joy Division, The Temptations and Dr Dre. Amazing combination. Ruby Lounge is renown for it's quality club nights and live music. The venue is perfect, with an adequate dance floor, a stage to match and plenty of seating on a slightly raised level for a chill out. Another great Northern Quarter location that needs to become a regular thing for me.

The gig was billed as The Cribs Aftershow but it was basically just a gig- most of the spectators were either in one of the four bands, looked like they should be or were girl groupies who were way too impressed with themselves that they were getting backstage. The sofas and high backed armchairs in the main bar area were nice touches, there were a few mirror balls around too. Plus velvet curtains - hello, strip club? Then you turn to the grimy stage area with the big grill up between the bands and the crowd. That said, no one went past the pillar anyway. Too cool to stand right at the front. Alright drinks prices - get some of their cheap vodka mixers or flavoured sambucas otherwise you'll run out of money quickly. After the bands they had Gareth Brooks from Xfm DJIng but we didn't end up staying.

I won't lie, it was very quiet. There was us and another couple in throughout the whole 2hours we where there. But I have heard since going that it does get very busy at weekends and booking are always taken! They have a great wines and booze list. The waiters where very pleasant and chatted with us and had a laugh which added a nice little touch. Now I won't lie... I was very surprised when I started into my main of garlic tikka chicken - it was really nice, oozing with garlic, which for me was heaven!! The mains are your standard indian cuisine, all four dishes where well presented, tasted amazing and... didn't lead you feeling too stuffed afterwards. I left with a happy belly! I ordered the GF Lounge Breakfast with the following changes: - Poached Eggs instead of fried - An extra egg in place of the GF roll (I hate seeded bread!) - An extra sausage instead of the bacon My food arrived without too long of a wait. I was impressed with my food overall, the poached eggs were cooked very well without being too soft or too hard, and the sausages also were good quality and cooked well. I think they did a good job at making sure every part of the breakfast was piping hot; this is difficult to do with so many individual items especially the baked beans, which are often lukewarm at other Lounges (but not this one). I did find a lack of atmosphere inside overall, it seemed way too quiet, I visited during the time many restaurants would be having a rush of diners for dinner time, but I could count the number of tables with active diners on one hand, it just felt spooky and not right. The gluten-free menu is extensive and has lots of choices, I opted for brunch as it's what I felt like, but other dishes including buttermilk chicken, burgers, tapas and steak can be made gluten-free, but remember to order with a manager at the counter as you're unable to use the QR code at your table with an allergy. 4* - A pretty good Lounge, the food and prices are good, and the staff are friendly but having more brightness and atmosphere inside would go a long way at making the experience even better.

Then at weekends all hands are on deck as the club comes alive. Rififi has two floors. The first floor is separated in two with the lounge at the front and later the room opens up further to the RnB room. Upstairs is the Dance room with two separate bars and is huge! What is good is that you have choice and a nice open deck area to sit and relax and not get rain on! The club is modern, stylish and cosy and is always busy so you know that it is doing something right. This is the club I go to and also celebrities such as Hollyoaks stars to Britains Got Talents Auditionees and X Factor contestants. You don't want to miss out on this place.

There is always the option to order the food at your table using a QR code, but I was unable to do this as I have an allergy and must order at the counter with a manager. The manager who took my order was friendly and was happy to make the changes I wanted to my dish without any trouble. The other members of my party ordered a dessert, and they were charged for a more expensive one than the one they wanted, this was their error however due to having two similar dishes on the menu. They did get the more expensive dessert and enjoyed it.
