Service was attentive, ambience was elevated yet casual and the prices and portions are very fair. I had the Char Kuey Tiew noodle dish (that we call Drunken Noodles in the states) and it was delicious! Come hungry as food portions are on the larger side of life, however, if you're ordering sushi, it's quality over quantity. The menu consists of reasonable prices, and covers a few options; Sushi, Ramen, and Rice dishes. You can find vegetarian options, and the staff are very good about you having food allergies or intolerances - so just let them know upon ordering. I love the raw juices and the sake/fruit on the drinks menu. There's a decent selection of wines, so if you're not up for drinking in a pub, it's perfectly acceptable to grab a bottle and share here. My husband ordered the Tori Katsu curry (R4) for mains, the rainbow roll (M14) to share for starters, and I had a salmon box (V3) and sake sashimi (H18). In hindsight, I could have left the sashimi as I was actually rather full from the other two dishes. I highly recommend you pop in if you haven't already, delicious food!!!

Sierra Nevada is a mainstay. The food menu is long and varied, and the fare I've tried was respectable, albeit a bit spendy given this is zone 4. On the subject of cost, I should say I would have liked to see the prices about a pound or two cheaper for many main courses. And the 10-pound round for two pints of ale did give me a bit of sticker shock given this pub's almost-Essex location. I guess it IS located in yummy mummy Wanstead valley, though. All in all, the pub has good food, good booze and plenty of inviting seating areas and a vast beer garden. On my two weekend visits, it's always been buzzing. If you're in your 30s and living in Wanstead, it's where you're going to end up eating and drinking at the weekend. If you're visiting friends who are the aforementioned, you'll be happy here too.

The food looked and smelled amazing, and the beers were varied and well kept. The barman was unfailingly knowledgeable and patient as I eventually settled for 3 third-pints of different but wonderful ales. However, there are a few things which can't be helped that mean this Draft House isn't quite everyone's pint of tea. Given the very structure of the building, it feels a bit cramped inside and when we were there we could only get stools, unless we wanted to eat. It also becomes rather an assault course if people are pushing baby buggies towards the pram park. The long-legged Arnie, that is me, says: "I'll be back." The short-arsed Danny DeVito, that is my Glaswegian girlfriend (providing she doesn't read this), says: "Nae wi' those high stools an' prams, aam nae."
