I've driven past Benedict's many times and have wanted to check it out. Tonight I had the regrettable displeasure. Our waitress was very nice. Perfect service. I ordered a main. A 10oz NY strip steak, medium rare, pretty standard. It showed up, a sad 8oz at best thin little steak on a soggy piece of garlic bread looking pretty crispy. I got a couple bites in. The initial flavour was bland followed by a bitter burnt musty taste, imagine trying to eat reconstituted mothballs overcooked on a dirty grill. I felt my eyes water up as I chewed. I tried to swallow. I felt my entire GI tract prepare to purge. That was as far as I was willing to go with this sad steak. Please understand that I've eaten some wildly questionable meals around the world. This still wins the worst. Our waitress came by to check on the food. I politely told her I wasn't going to be able to eat the steak. Without hesitation she apologized and said she'd have them remake it no problem. Cool, ok, great. My gross sad steak leaves the table. 30 seconds later the MANAGER shows up with the steak I thought I'd never have to look at again. She was pissssed! She wanted to have a full on argument with me about what medium rare is. In the end she charged me $30 for an un edible piece of meat. She was so out of line and ready to battle with me. It was actually so insane it was hilarious, in a sad pathetic way. Anyways, save yourself the horrible experience and the waste of time of money and go literally anywhere else. My dogs thought it was good! So there's that.. I guess.

There were 4 of us at the table and the drinks were quickly replaced. I ordered the kid size Hawaiian pizza and got the medium size instead as I having a big dinner so wanted something small. One on our table ordered the beef dip. It looked good and the patron said it was fine. It appears a little light in the meat side. Didn't come with horse radish which is a personal choice. Most likely you could have asked for it and they would have delivered it. The iced tea was refreshed as needed. It was a nice place and the views were great as it is right on the lake. It was a pub style and had a few stuffed animals and birds giving it that rustic feeling.

There is not many options for a meal in Balfour hence we had a meal here. Lesson learned. Our server was nice enough but made sure every sentence ended with " we are closing Sunday so not much here", which is understandable but a one time statement will suffice. We had the seafood pasta ($27) and the 2 piece fish ($38 ) and chips. 2 drinks ($6.50 per) each and a cup of coffee( a whopping $3.50 per) For $38 Fish and Chips we were expecting amazing, not Captain HiLiner. This was definitely straight off the Sysco truck. The seafood lasagna had about 2 oz of salmon and maybe 8 very small shrimp (the kind soaked in salt water and frozen). Please, remember to stop and buy some room food at the grocery store.

Person who shared pizza with me agreed. Someone else across from me ordered a Wrap & said that too was tasteless, only ate half. There was even a comment about the yam fries being tasteless as well. If you are going to charge high prices for food, you should make it tasty & a good bang for the buck. This was absolutely terrible eats. I won' t be back anytime soon. As comparable on my last visit to area, I had a LARGE Greek Pizza vs your Small/Med, from Boston Pizza & it was loaded & I mean loaded with Greek toppings for around $30.. and it was to die for delicious. There is no excuse for poor food, get a better cook or train the one you have better or you will loose customers that come for eats vs just the beer. Waitress was Nice though.

If you're looking for peace and quiet go elsewhere. It's an interesting place, with plenty of charisma. The staff writer as great, helpful and accommodating of perhaps a little prone to tending the tables instead of us at the bar. That said we didn't feel neglected at all even though we were left pretty much alone after our food was dropped. My chicken souvlaki was quite good, with big chunks of chicken breast that was very nicely cooked, not dry at all, not easy to accomplish. The potato and rice pilaf was also very good, as was the tzatziki and the pita. Solid meal! The lovely K had the Veggie Alfredo with Caesar salad and garlic bread which was plentiful, piping hot and tasty. The salad we shared was shaved romaine with diced red onion, dill and apple cider vinaigrette. It didn't sound good to me, but we ordered it anyway, and it was really good.
