Fortunately there is a pizza and wine tasting event happening when I came in, so I definitely had to go and grab some. They also had specialties on the manual like the flatbread, and also the goat dip which was amazing. The goat cheese dip was my favorite because it just melts in your mouth along with the fig jam. We also got the Greek pizza which had olives and feta, and I'm not gonna lie. The olives were not as strong as I thought which is fantastic. Everyone should really try out Mike's pizza! read more

The name is misleading. This is not the corner pizza place as it appears from the street. Once you enter it is a full restaurant and European deli with countless imported beers, wine, and gourmet items. All food is made to order so expect to wait 15 mins for the veal but order a beer and salad and enjoy the wait. The staff is all friendly and treat you as family. The one business recommendation is to all open tabs for beer reorders. You clear your tab when you first order at the counter. Sure, you can order another beer later but this is placing another order and paying again. Given that most evening traffic is take-out with only a fraction eating in, seems like they could track those at the tables and allow an open tab. Stopped here for lunch as it was close by work. They were really busy! We ordered two 10 inch pizzas. One Supreme and one Margherita. The crust was pretty good and it came out fresh. The supreme pizza was just okay, and I liked the Margherita one better. There's not much to eat around here, so I recommend trying this place out. They have pasta specials in the restaurant and also offer gyros. They also have a cute shop area with olive oil and different foods. We also tried the cheesy bread sticks but I wouldn't t recommend them. They were large pieces of bread (like Olive Garden style but way thicker) and had very little cheese. read more

We visited Mikes Pizza for my first time two weeks ago for lunch and wow! I love this restaurant and it will definitely be on my short list to visit next time we are in town. I ordered MIKE'S DELUXE (Ham, Turkey, Pastrami, Roast Beef, 7" ($7.99) and my husband ordered a 7" Turkey sub ($7.99). We also ordered fried mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. The sandwiches were very tasty and 7" was quite filling. The staff is friendly and helpful. We ordered at the counter and they called our name when our food was ready. The restaurant has a good selection of sodas, fresh brewed iced tea and other beverages. There are quite a few tables and the dining room was pretty full for lunch. This restaurant is really close to the Naval base so perfect location if you are working on base. There is also a decent sized store selling foods and household goods from Italy or themed around Italy. Less than 48 Hours ago my husband and I agreed to consume some food from Mike's Pizza in Norfolk Virginia (the Hampton Boulevard location a few miles from Naval Station Norfolk). Anyhow, I fortunately obtained the opportunity to order and pick up food from this location. The employee I interacted with both to order and receive my food had a pleasant, welcoming and warm personality and I received the food in a reasonable and fair timeframe. I ordered the Chicken Parmen Italian dinner for my husband. Luckily my husband enjoyed the chicken parmesan and spaghetti combo (comes with mozarella cheese for anyone viewing this who is curious). Well let me get started. Went to Mike's pizza because someone said their pizza was delicious. I ordered the smallest pie just for myself. It was in fact delicious. Told my family about it and told them they had to try it. Went to Mike's the following week and ordered a Margherita pizza that came with no sauce. I've ordered countless margherita pizzas and they all had sauce. I was disappointed and felt embarrassed because I told my family the pizza was so good. Just ate here today and met two of the nicest Greek ladies you will ever meet in Maria and Chrissy, the two sisters running this fine business that has been here for 46 years. Was at NOB nearby and used Yelp to find nearby pizza place. Was definitely worth the trip and visit. From the outside does not look like that large of a place, but definitely spacious inside. Ordered a large 16 inch pizza. The dough for the crust was fresh and toppings were decent. They had nice selection of condiments to go on your pizza. Maria was generous with the sauce. Think next time I will have them add the spices to the pizza prior to cooking. Chrissy had a nice selection of homemade desserts that I will partake in. We have ordered (delivery) from Mike's Pizza twice. The first order we had pizza and sandwiches. The second order was pizza only. I describe the food as "par" - it is not great food but it is not poorly prepared. Very average pizza - nothing special. The pricing is fair. It will not be a "go to" place for us but we might order again. The delivery time was good. This may not matter to a lot of people but a negative for me is the receipts are not clear. All the food is listed on the handwritten ticket (not on the register receipt) and then only ONE number for everything. The items are not priced, the tax is not priced and any fees are not listed - only one dollar amount on the handwritten ticket AND only one dollar amount on the actual register receipt. (Tipped in cash). It looked liked the amount charged had been rounded up - it was just one even dollar amount (no cents) - maybe coincidence? If you are the person that wants that breakdown you will need to go back on line to list the pricing, figure the tax percentage and get the difference for the fees whatever they may be (?). The first order we created the pricing from the website but the website pricing was old and the actual cost was higher than what was at the website. First time visit on a chilly mid week evening, no one else in the store other than a take out customer. Very friendly and amiable 'crew' and a bright, interesting place teamed up with very tasty, freshly prepared food to make my wife and I very happy to have decided to give Mike's a try. On the look out for "veggies" the sign for 'subs and salads' drew us in from the Wendy's across the street. I had a cup of hot chili along with a side order of dolmas and an excellent, well-portioned 'Southwestern Chicken Salad'. Wife had a gyro and Greek side salad combo. I stopped in here after running a few items to the cleaners. It is a pleasant open layout and the staff that was working when I came in were extremely friendly. I saw the sign in the window advertising gyros and came in to try one for lunch. The gyro came with either fries or a Greek salad. It was tasty but not as incredible as one of the other customers in the restaurant with me made it out to be. I was happy to see that you could order extra tzatziki with your meal since I am a fan. The meat was presliced patties that look like they are pulled out and is reheated. Also, you bus your own table to a station to the left of the bar, which doesn't when you walk into a place for the first time. Overall I wouldn't mind coming back to try the pizza or to have another gyro, but I don't know that I would make this one of my staple eating places. read more

I had a craving for a steak sandwich so I ordered the Beef Philly and specifically said only lettuce, tomato, onions and mayo (I can not eat cheese). I was in the grocery store across the street when I made my order, and about 15 minutes later I stopped in and picked up the pie's and a gyro. We did delivery for pizza and medium buffalo wings (pictured) and came pretty quickly. The pizza was alright not the best, cheese got tough when it started to get cold. The dough had a light sauce on it which that was OK for me but now onto the wings. Its fried and I guess supposed to be dipped in the buffalo sauce. My wife and I just got back from lunch at Mike's and overall, it was just OK. As many have said, it is certainly a family affair there. That's a nice touch to be sure. But, the experience and pizza just weren't that impressive for us. As for the experience, we had to wait a long time. It was around 25 minutes from the time we ordered to getting our food. That's a bit long but it would have been forgiven if the food was just dynamite. The food was hit and miss. We wanted to try a couple of things, so we ordered a 12" pizza and a small meatball sub. First, the meatball sub was actually quite good. My wife is the meatball sub expert and based on her feedback (both vocally and time of consumption), it was a winner. A perfect combination of cheese, meatballs, and sauce without making the bun soggy. Thumbs up. The pizza was disappointing, to be honest. Neither of us thought it would be classified as "NY Style", as stated on the website. The crust was good but the toppings were the problem. They put the Italian sausage under the cheese, which I don't care for and the sausage didn't have any "zip" to it. I don't know. It was just bland, I guess. The pizza just didn't do it for either of us. We split a brownie for dessert and it was really good. And, though I couldn't try it this time, the baklava cheesecake looked outstanding. I will try that again. I will go back to Mike's because the sub was good and there are sweets that beckon me in. I also want to try the gyro. But, the service was slow, family or not. I live right down the street from this joint. Have been since June 2013. I finally found the right time to sit down and enjoy a cup of lobster bisque soup and a gyro. It took awhile to get my order, but as they say sometimes you pay for the quality, not the quantity. It was great. The soup was fresh, not the best I've had, but sometimes recipes differ. The gyro was amazing. I made a fool of myself stuffing it down. The staff was a family environment, the older couple working together to make sure everyone was happy and organized.
