I took my beloved kitty to a vet up the street from me, and was told that she was in the beginning stages of kidney failure. He wanted to start her on a diet that was heavier in liquids for her kidneys. He told me that if she had this food, she had a chance at slowing down the kidney failure. She had dropped so much weight and after that visit, she continued to go down hill. She became very lethargic and didn't want any interaction with us at all. This is not a common thing for her, and I began to worry that maybe it was her time. I was so devastated at the thought of losing my cat that I wanted a second opinion. I wasn't really fond of the vet I took her to before, and she had been misdiagnosed by a prior vet before this. I have watched her health decline over the last year, and was feeing guilty that maybe she was suffering and I was being cruel. I asked for the advice from my friends, and wanted to see who their vet of choice was. Several suggestions were the same. Mike's Mobile Veterinary service. My friends all had good things to say, and at least 3 of them had trusted Mike with their babies. I called his office with a very heavy heart thinking I was losing my girl. I got their voicemail, but they were so quick to call me back. I explained my situation to his super sweet receptionist, and she got me an appointment right away. Mike is different is so many ways. First of all, he comes to your pet! He drove to my home to come and check on her. He came in and went right to my kitty. He could tell she was pretty lethargic, so he had me carry her out to his truck. His assistant was waiting for us, and when I walked in I was amazed. It is a small clinic on wheels. The exam table, and many of the other things you'd expect in the traditional office are here. Mike got to work checking out my kitty. He poked and prodded and shone a light in her eyes while I sat there with my heart pounding. He did a blood test because I told him what the previous vet had said. After some initial inspections, he looked in her mouth, and checked her teeth. When he started to look at her teeth he said that she needed a cleaning, and low and behold, one of her teeth moved. She jumped about a mile high. He grinned from ear to ear and said, "Honestly I don't think it's kidney failure, but I'm going to do the test to make sure. I think she simply has a couple bad teeth, and they are killing her appetite." I was shocked. My mouth probably hung open down to the floor. He was very quick and thorough. He told me that he would call me in the next couple days with the results, but he wanted to remove those bad teeth too. He gave me an antibiotic because he suspected she had an infection. I started her on that medicine and I tell you what, in a matter of days she was starting to act like herself again. I was excited, but trying not to be too much so as I still waited for the results. He called me back, and he was indeed correct. There was no sign of kidney failure. Turns out the bad teeth were the culprit. He performed the surgery a couple days later after the infection was gone, and after her drunken first day, she improved day by day. A couple months later, and it's like nothing was ever wrong with her. I realize this review is a long one, but it's because I know how frustrating it can be to take your beloved pet to vet after vet getting incorrect diagnoses. I really fear that had I taken her back to that last vet, my cat may not be sitting here with me today. I would recommend Mike and his staff to anyone for their pets. He comes to your home, and his prices were even less than the last two vets I took my pets to. Even if you don't have pets, but know someone who does... do them a favor and pass along this information. Seriously. NOW!! read more

For months I watched my cat's health decline, and trips to the vet were horrible for her. Having to drive to the vet's office and sit in a cold room waiting for a vet to come in a poke at her made her miserable and stressed. The pills her vet kept prescribing were getting to be too much, and her quality of life wasn't what if should have been. After a tough week of watching her struggle, and being faced with the horrible decision of trying to keep treating her health issues after 15 years, or let her go peacefully, I saw the Mike's Mobile Veterinary driving by. It was time for her to go peacefully, and I couldn't bare to drag her to a cold veterinary office one last time. After emailing the office for more information on their services, the office manager, Ellie, was incredibly helpful, understanding, and prompt. Her patience on the phone as I wept while trying to give her my address so that Dr. Cohen could come to the house was incredibly appreciated. After spending the day saying goodbye to our fluffy best friend, Dr. Cohen and his assistant, Jim, came to the house to help her pass. They were incredibly sweet, and caring - it made me wish I'd known about them sooner so that I could have spared her the numerous office visits for her regular vet care. They allowed us to keep her comfortable in her own environment, and even helped with post-life care for her. I'm incredibly grateful for Dr. Cohen and his practice - to know that she was comfortable in the end, and surrounded by those that loved her in her own home with professionals who truly care about their patients was invaluable. So thank you, to Dr. Cohen and his staff, for giving us peace of mind, and being so supportive during such a difficult time for us. I wouldn't go anywhere else for vet care in the future. read more

My dog is in severe pain so I call our vet, Dr. Mike. After multiple unanswered calls and no call backs the person who finally answered my call (Ellie) says I'm sorry, my husband is completely booked for the next 2 weeks. So basically Ellie is telling me, that their practice only schedules for well visits ??? That's not the kind of veterinary practice I need. When your beloved family pet is in extreme pain that is NOT an acceptable response unless you're actually trying to run your clients off. read more

Dr. Mike is fabulous with both pets and people. His home visit got us past the terror that our cat had developed of going to the veterinary clinic because of pandemic policies that prevented me from going in with her. She had not been able to be thoroughly examined in three years. Dr. Mike was able to check her heart, lungs, abdomen, and teeth on this home visit. She was only slightly worried and after the exam walked around the room rubbing against my legs happily. He reassured me that she was healthy (if fat), explained that the food she's on is for a more active cat and thus too calorie dense, and gave me advice I trust on how to feed her right. I was astonished that the visit only cost $80 - I can't remember any other time in the last 20 years having a vet visit for under $100. I had been so worried about our cat, and I am so relieved now that she has been checked out well. Dr. Mike and Jim were incredibly cheerful and fun to talk to. read more

Love, love, love Dr. Mike, Jim and the young ladies that typically handle the calls, I say typically because sometimes Dr. Mike calls or texts personally. I have to warn you that making the transition from a brick and mortar vet to the mobile vet took a couple of times for me to become really comfortable. One immediate concern was that regardless of when I call they never answer the phone. Never. This was super frustrating at first... But, they are quick to call or text back and after a few interactions this concern became a non-issue. Everyone is unbelievably happy and all seem genuinely concerned about me and my animals. Between me, my uncle, and my mother, we all live next to each other, I schedule for 3 dogs and 5 cats. Ease of walking out the front door to the mobile vet takes almost all of the anxiety out of the trip, for all of us... especially for the cats, no more cat carriers and no other animals in the waiting room. I literally just carry them out one at a time. Meds are no issue. If Dr. Mike has you on the schedule, he comes stocked with most needs. There is only 1 medication we need that he doesn't carry, Vetmedin, and they happily work with whomever will give me the best price. My dog has a documented history of skin infections, recently, I emailed Dr. Mike a picture of a new sore that the topical anti-fungal meds weren't working on and he called in an antibiotic to my local pharmacy. I was able to get Rooster started on the meds that same day. Once established as a patient with a history, use of technology is much appreciated since they schedule about 2 weeks out. I almost hate recommending them because that will only help fill their schedule up and push their dates further out.... But, they are fantastic. Back to Dr. Mike and Jim... Jim has been with Dr. Mike all but one time. It is obvious they have worked together for years. They are a lot of fun and definitely love what they do. They take their time to make up with each animal, especially with the ones that are really timid before jumping right into an exam, shot or nail trim. Oh, and prices... no more than you would pay at your regular vet. Definitely recommend! P.S. They mentioned that they are considering expanding if they can find the right crew. To begin with the girls that do the scheduling are great. Then Dr. Mike and Jim were beyond great. They were SUPER friendly and personable. The way they were with my fur baby as well as my husband and I were way more than I could have asked for. This is the only vet for us. Don't bother contacting Dr. Mike if you are a potentially new client. We have an aging sheltie with significant health issues, and wanted her seen in a quiet, safe home environment for an exam and possible end of life decision making. She is declining, and experiences increased pain and anxiety when taken to our vet's office in North College Hill, so wanted a more sedate and calm setting for her, and also, one in which we could be present vs sitting out in the car per Covid restrictions. After I reached out twice to schedule an appt, I was contacted today by his office by a slightly flippant young lady, and informed that our dog could not be seen until mid or late February due to his busy schedule, then referred back to our primary vet or yet another local vet practice. So we're back to square one. I guess when you're making enough money with your current caseload and don't have a partner to handle new clients, you feel comfortable in deferring the needs of beloved aging pets. I guess we will have to push her little decrepit body into my car, risk loss of her bodily fluids as we drive, take her down to our vet for the needle, instead of treating her kindly and gently. Dr. Mike is great and Jim his assistant is just as wonderful! I have had many pets all my life. I've always had a cat or dog or both and I'm 44 now. So I have dealt with a lot of vets in my time. My dog Daisy is epileptic and I wanted a second opinion on her treatment so after a glowing recommendation from a family member I called him. He agreed with the treatment but instead of bleeding me for more blood test he kept her on the meds, which were cheaper than Kroger, and told me to call if there was any problems. The way Dr mike and Jim handled my dog hooked me. They actually like and care about animals and it shows. They don't treat you like some kind of idiot, they talk to you, not down to you. I can't say enough good about these people. Their mobile office is extremely clean, cleaner than my old vet clinics office and complete for any scenario that I can think of. It has a surgical room and x-ray machine. My last visit with Dr Mike and Jim wasn't as pleasant, not because of them but because of the circumstances. My cat's age got the better of her, she was 18. He came gave her a brief exam and offered some treatment that would have prolonged her life and comfort for awhile longer. However I thought it best to go ahead and let her move on. They let me stay with her until the very end, something my other clinic would never offer. I could have left her but it was nice to be with her as she went. If you are looking for a vet Dr Mike is your guy. Not only is it convenient for you it is more comfortable for your pet and he is an all around good guy. I had a wonderful experience with Mike's Mobile Vet. I looked into vets who made home visits after it was clear my cat couldn't be taken to a vets office without becoming very anxious and aggressive. It was obvious that Mike and his assistant were great with animals from the get go, and they worked creatively and gently to help my very anxious cat get through a physical exam and shots. They were extremely friendly and very helpful, answering all my questions and providing information. They gave me a tour of their mobile van where they can perform surgeries, X-rays, ultrasounds, run blood tests, etc. if needed. I am very satisfied and will be using them again. read more

Dr. Mike and Jim gave us the best veterinary experience we have had in years. Our 9-year-old tom cat has just gotten worse over time when it comes to getting his shots - to the point that our local vet refused to treat him unless she was first able to anesthetize him. For his last visit, the drugs only put off the inevitable since they had to wait until he woke up to put him back in his cage, which just triggered him to freak out again (wailing, spitting, screaming, biting and clawing). So, when it was time for his yearly shots, I was really dreading taking him in. Luckily, I found Mike's Mobile Service, and they not only drove to the house, but, at least for this basic check-up and shots, they treated Cody (the over-reactive cat) inside our house. After first ensuring all of the bedroom and bathroom doors were closed, we set up on the dining room table. Cody eventually figured out what was up and began with his screaming, spitting and trying to bite routine, but by then Jim had a good grip on him, and he wasn't going anywhere. Dr. Mike was able to conduct a pretty thorough exam and to give him his vaccinations. In less than 15 minutes from start to finish, Cody received the care he needed, and given that I didn't have to pay for anesthesia and boarding, it actually cost a lot less than a trip to our local vet. It was far less traumatic for Cody, as well, and as soon as Mike and Jim left, he was back to his old self. read more

I'm not sure who gets more anxious about transporting our cat Tyler, him or my wife. As cat owners know taking your cat to the vet or groomer can be a painful experience for all involved. We had Mike's come to check Tyler earlier today. Dr. Amy was great, Tyler was mainly calm (even when his temperature was taken) and showed no signs of stress within minutes. Amy and her assistant answered every question my wife asked and provided good suggestions every time. We couldn't have been more pleased with the care they offered to Tyler. This is an invaluable service to anyone with a cat who is easily traumatized by travel. read more
