Although their developers have been in repair and they had to ship out the film to be developed for a little while, which was inconvenient, the employees show very high customer care. If I wanted my film to be developed with utmost quality, I would go somewhere else and pay a higher price, but they have pretty good quality and turn around time, not to mention many choices for film to purchase. read more

I was in Denver to run some errands (ok, do some shopping) and decided to look for a camera backpack that was recommended. I entered the store, no 'Welcome to Mike's Camera!', no greeting at all. The entire 15min I spent looking at bags, only one person passed me and I thought she was a customer until I turned around when she asked someone in the row behind me if they needed help. I decided to leave after that and noticed multiple pairs of eyes on me as I left. Not sure where they thought I could hide a backpack since I was empty handed but you can believe I won't set foot in there again. read more

The staff is always very willing to help while using the do it yourself kiosks!! Very friendly... especially Shannon

I've given Mike's Camera business for over two years now and my biggest issue with them are there customer service skills. It's as if they are doing me a favor for choosing to do business with them. I've had issues with many more orders than not. They do some things well like stock cameras but their photo processing part of the company is lacking in the customer service area. I won't be using them again as there are many other options in the Denver area that do a better job. read more

I have been into this store a few times before but this time was different. A few months ago, I walked in the store and a guy named Jonathan Shoup (or at least thats what it says on his card) was at the register closest to door and greeted me. He asked me if I had any questions, and being kind of a newb photographer, I had plenty. Immediately Jonathan made me feel at ease. Sometimes when people in a position such as his, tend to talk down to a beginner like myself. Not once did I feel like he did this to me. It was the perfect mixture of being VERY knowledgable, feeling me out to see what my skill level was, then delivering in a way that was very informative but not condescending. We talked for probably an hour, I picked his brain, and he had an answer for everything I asked him. At no point did he rush me, or act like I was annoying him (which I more than likely was:)) and I found out later, that he was suppose to be done working 20 min before our conversation ended. He stayed, just to make sure I was taken care of. If I wouldn't have had that conversation with Jonathan that day, I would be buying everything online. Since then, I have bought a tripod, diffusers, Rented lenses (recommended by Jonathan) ,flashes etc. I would come in, tell him about what kind of shoot I was doing, he recommended what lens and equipment I needed to get the shoot done. His advice hasn't failed me yet. I am excited to say, today I am going in to make my first big lens purchase. The Tamron 70-200m 2.8 for around $1,400. It has taken me a few months to save for this but I would be buying it online if it wasn't for Jonathan and his impeccable customer service, I am now a loyal customer of Mike's Camera because of Jonathan and will continue to shop there as I grow my business. read more

After being almost completely ignored at the Best Buy up the street, I decided to head over to Mike's Camera and I'm glad I did. The sales associate took the time to help me select the best camera for my upcoming trip. About my only complaint was when he became really aggressive about selling me a camera case to go with it. Ultimately I ended up paying about $20 less than I would have elsewhere for both the camera and the case so I ended up buying it. I also like that they give you a lot of freebies to use with them when you buy a camera. All in all a good shopping experience, if you're looking for customer service, skip the big box stores and head here. read more

I have purchased a camera here (Nikon D90), ordered prints, and rented a lens. The service has been excellent, the prints beautiful, the products fantastic. I have been very impressed by the staff's expertise and willingness to go above and beyond in answering my questions, even taking the time to give me several valuable pointers about my camera or lens. The photo processing has prices comparable to some drug stores but the quality is of much higher caliber here. This is my go to store for all my photographic needs. read more

I've honestly never been a fan of Mikes Camera based on the coldness I've received when visiting other locations south of Denver as a curious newbie. Carl and the team up in Wheatridge, however, changed that perspective for me. In phone calls before taking the plunge for a 2nd camera body - to the after sale with a defect in a product Carl was positive, friendly and supportive. He went above and beyond making sure I was set up to maintain my profession as quick as possible. His team was supportive of his decisions and that too helped make the issue with the product truly a non issue. Whew...because the investment we make as photographers must last as long as possible! How nice to know someone's got your back and also can answer your curious questions with out a snooty nose in the air! Thanks Carl and the Wheatridge Mikes Camera! read more

Needed to replace my camera and lens in a short amount of time and the Canon website showed 1DX Mark II back ordered... These guys had one in stock!! So shocked and so pleased!! Better than average customer service, they worked hard getting me all my requirements, utilizing other branches in the area. Very impressed. read more

They did a great job processing my film, and the photos turned out wonderful! I shipped it from out of state, and while it took a long time for them to receive the film, their turnaround time was quick and they were very helpful in involving me in the process. read more

Excellent service and helpful staff. Needed photos quickly for album I was making for friend's birthday. They are the best!

I would like to share my recent experience with Ryan H. at the Colorado Boulevard location. My recently bought camera battery seemed to be non-functioning. Ryan explained that I probably had let it sit too long but that he had a device with which he could/would attempt to "jump start" it again. And, it worked. A great experience -- assuring my return to the store the next time I am in need of camera equipment. read more

I ordered eight 11x14 prints on metallic paper, to be completed at their Boulder facility, on Nov 22. After 3 1/2 weeks of receiving no prints, no email replies and no returned phone calls I cancelled my order and had to seek other alternatives to meet a deadline. The Boulder office would even respond to requests from their office in Colorado Springs. I can't imagine how the office stays in business. I will never seek out any services from Boulder's office again. read more

Got some gift card a month ago after I spent a bunch of $ here. Apparently if they're out of an item in store you can't use the gift cards for anything ordered! I will never spend another penny at Mikes. read more

I bought a compact mirrorless camera to take travel photos. I did some research on my own to identify what I was looking for, but was overwhelmed by the choices. Rob at Mike's Camera spent an hour with me and made it easy to pick the right camera and lenses. After playing with the camera for a few weeks, I went back for my free 30-minutes one-on-one session to learn how to use my camera. Rob is great. He told me which features I would use most of the time, which features I don't need, and showed me how to use the features I might need on an upcoming trip. I create training for a living so I know Rob is a great trainer. After my trips, I will go back for the free 2-hour course on my camera. I highly recommend Mike's Camera and Rob if you're looking to buy a camera and learn how to use it. read more

Very helpful and informed staff. I'll definitely be back to Mike's for any of my future camera needs.

I purchased a fairly expensive camera kit and tripod at Mike's at the end of December. I really enjoyed that initial purchase experience, by the way. Just 3 1/2 months after the purchase, one of the plastic tightening knobs on the tripod broke in my hand while at a shoot. I brought the tripod in today and spoke with Terry. Within 7 minutes, I was out the door with an entirely new tripod kit. Super easy and friendly replacement. I am grateful for such a no-hassle fix to an unfortunate problem. read more

Probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Any one I've ever been helped by has had a bad attitude and seems bothered to do their job. I'm a waitress so I understand that customer service is hard but if you don't like people maybe don't work in customer service. On top of the employees being complete jerks, I paid $36 to get my film developed and only got 10/36 pictures out of it and was offered no help or reasoning as to why. 26 pictures missing without even a "sorry". I was robbed. Never have I ever experienced such poor service and egotistical employees. Rather get my film developed at walmart. read more

Mike's Camera is great! I have been a consistent customer with them over the past couple of years. They have a very knowledgable staff, who've met all of my many needs--camera selection, off camera lighting, drone imagery, and even when I made the switch from Canon to Sony. Jen, the manager, always helps out if I ever need to find a specific item that they don't have in stock. read more

I am a B&H customer for many years. I always purchased everything online. This is time I decided go and see Mike's Camera store. I really went to see and feel the camera not to buy. But this is a beautiful store. They have a very large inventory of cameras and accessories. Anything and everything you could want for a beginner to a professional. Rob waited on me. I thought I knew a lot about the camera I wanted, being a professional. Rob knew so must more about the camera and the lenses. They matched the price and I purchased the camera. I do not think I will buy online any more as the service they provide is well worth a few cents. Thank you Rob read more

This review is late by 3 months but I owe Mani @ Mike's Camera in Glendale a big big thank you for coming to my rescue when I ran into issues with obtaining a passport size picture that I could use for an e-visa application for Malaysia that had very strict guidelines. Prior attempts of getting my passport size picture taken by myself, followed by Walgreens and Costco were all rejected by the website. I'm not someone that ever takes the time to fill out an online survey or write a review but I insisted on Mani sending me a link were I could leave some positive feedback since my trip would have been in serious jeopardy had it not been for her! A bit pricey, but would still recommend this place in a heartbeat. read more

Had a really good experience going to Mike's Camera on Colorado Blvd. I went in after purchasing a Sony A7R3 after being a long time Canon user. I wanted information on lenses, changing over, and adapting some of my glass to Sony and Rob Schmid was definitely the guy to see! He's got over 15 years experience and knew all the ins and outs of the cameras, 3rd party lenses, quirks and what makes something better value and sense than another piece of equipment. I wasn't sure what would work with my new Sony and Canon lenses so we put a few to the test with E-mount lens adapter and he was kind enough to try a few of them out and educate me on tech key points and lens choices. I wanted some real world application advice - not just number crunching pixel peeper reviews online. I'll definitely be going back in for a lens purchase - hopefully sooner than later! read more

I've also visited the Lone Tree store but this is my main store (closest to home/work). All my experience here have been great and I've worked with a few different reps. They are all very knowledgeable (which is nice, since I'm very new to photography). They have been great about explaining the value in a more expensive product but have always been respectful of my budget as well. They also have a great return policy so I feel like even if I make the wrong choice I can exchange for the better fit (in the appropriate amount of time according to their policy - of course.) read more

While traveling in the Glendale, CO area, I found Mike's Camera Store and decided to go inside to check it out. A sales agent named Rob helped me, and offered for me to bring my camera and gear inside and helped me with everything that I needed for my new camera setup and more. I purchased a new head setup for my carbon tripod, extra foot for my large telephoto lens, and a great book on using my new Nikon D7200. I wish this shop was in my Fort Lauderdale, FL neighborhood! Great customer service Rob! read more

My recent purchasing experience at your store was great and it was all because of Jonathan Shoup. It's a great experience when you can go into a store and talk to someone knowledgeable. All of my questions got answered thoroughly and he was able to make product suggestions to me. Jonathan went out of his way to help me out. He coordinated delivery of an item from another store and got the part in my hands by the end of the day. He personally went out of his way to make me happy. It's all about relationships in sales and developing trust. I can tell you without a doubt I will be back in the store to make more purchases. There are a lot of online shopping options for camera gear but having someone you can trust and you know will take care of you is, in a single word, "priceless". I likely have another $10k of purchases I want to make (Nikon lenses) and Jonathan will be "my guy". Keep him happy! He is a great asset to your company. read more

I have had great success getting support for my various camera's. I have even called the store during a photo shoot near Ouray and got my problems resolved quickly with the help of Rob Schmidt. Duane is also extremely helpful and has been great to work with over many years I previously been purchasing my camera gear on line but the after market support at Mike's made me a believer in buying from a local store Great job guys! read more

I moved to Denver from Alaska in May and was thrilled to see a camera shop right across the street from my office job. I always prefer to shop local and support small businesses instead of shop online or at big box stores, so I started going to Mike's Camera with great hopes. For the last 3 months, I've given Mike's Camera Denver multiple chances, but they wasted my time, money, emotional health and put my business on hold. The kind of customer service I've received from the Denver location is completely unacceptable. I would've LOVED to have a local shop at a convenient location where I could buy camera and video gear for the next 5+ years here. However, every single one of these employees treated me like shit - but maybe that's because I'm visibly dark brown and every employee in there is conveniently white... I would love to believe the way I was treated was just pure coincidence, but it's 2020 and older white men kind of freak me out for obvious reasons... Good thing they seem to get things when my white wife walks in!!!! I get it, Corona is unprecedented and things are different- but customer service shouldn't be something that you have to beg for. I shouldn't have to beg a floor associate to help me, especially after spending hundreds of dollars there on gear. I've seen Jonathon get visibly irritated when I walk in, as I stand out among the mass of typically white customers, and try to skip over helping me in line. Luckily, other customers are decent humans and pointed Jonathon over to me, saying I was here first. Jonathon dropped my lens when he picked it up because he clearly didn't know how to hold a lens with that kind of lens hood. Jonathon suggested I'd stolen my gear because it "didn't match" when I'd attempted a trade in. Maybe that was a joke, but a poor one at that that's fairly offensive. I buy used gear and have been a photographer for news media, weddings, school portraits, family and baby photos -- I've changed gear a lot over the last five years. I'm sorry I switched from Canon to Nikon to Fuji, I didn't realize that was an issue here in the camera community in Denver! It's never been an issue before... Don't waste your time here if you care about customer service. You'll get better customer service online at Adorama or B&H, hell, maybe even Amazon. read more

Great service if you want a camera or parts. Framing not so much. Had to make 3 separate trips and two calls to the shop to try to get a new photo transferred into a frame. After a week I'm leaving with my frame and photos in the same condition as when I dropped them off. read more

I am so happy! I had an image of our very large family reunion, but it was hard to see all of the faces well because, in order to fit everyone in the photo, we had to set the camera rather far away. Mani to the rescue!!! She suggested turning the image into a panoramic (4" x 12") and brightening it. In short time, Mani's brilliant idea yielded an amazing photo where everyone can be easily seen, and all of my family members love the prints I gave them!!! Mani took what would have been a less-than awesome image and made it sing. I am grateful! read more

We went in to the shop with a vague idea of what we needed, and left VERY informed and satisfied. Josh was INCREDIBLE! He was so helpful, understanding, and informative. Last night I went in to Mike's Camera knowing that I needed to have pictures developed that night. As I was picking out my photos, it struck me that the chance of me getting my photos that night were quite slim, considering I had 85 photos that needed to be done for a business meeting the next morning. I went to the register and asked, "any chance I could get these photos tonight?" And I got lucky enough that I asked the right person. After explaining my very tight situation, the guy behind the register, Leon, told me that he would see what he could do. Five minutes later, Leon comes back out and says that he can have the pictures done by 7:00 that night. However, in order to truly appreciate how well Leon took care of me, you have to understand that this is the last week before Christmas, so imagine how many orders he is juggling right now. Another factor to take into account, was that I needed my photos in two hours, when it would normally take twenty four. On top of all of this, Leon was extremely kind, patient, and willing to help. Excellent service provided by Leon and Mike's Camera. I highly recommend this location. read more

Personally I stay away from most camera shops but I refuse to go here ever. I was here once when a customer asked the price and said he was going to see what it cost online. The sales person then proceeded to verbally abuse the customer until the customer left. Anyone who doesn't compare prices online is wasting their money. I like to support local businesses but not if I'm getting ripped off. I definitely won't go somewhere where they employ people with an attitude. Whenever I've been in Mike's I have trouble getting service and definitely get ignored if I'm not looking at something expensive. They carry the same basic camera's as Bestbuy and everyone else so what is the incentive? It's not their knowledge because I have yet to find someone who knew more about a camera then I did. I know when they go out of business they will blame the internet but the real reason will be that they didn't provide a service that people were willing to pay for. read more

I have been going to Mike's camera ever since I was little with my mom and will be a customer for life! My mom would always print out pictures at Mike's because of the quality, and now, as an adult and as a photographer I only rent equipment and print my photos from Mike's. I have worked with Terry multiple times and he's been nothing but helpful and willing to answer any question, no matter how simple. He has been kind and has always found the best possible solution for any problem I have! I would recommend Mike's camera to any one (amateur or pro photographers included)! read more

I'm a working pro and recently moved to Colorado and was delighted to see well-stocked camera stores. I generally spend around $5k a year on photo gear for my business. The Mike's location on Colorado Blvd was only 10 minutes from where I live, so I was very excited. However, after my last visit to the store (Aug 2014) I had enough of the odd customer service there. I had made about 7 visits to the store up to that point and purchased something every time. In total I think I spent a little over a grand. What I found odd was that I would never be greeted when I entered the store, and most of the time never acknowledged! The last time I went I had a question on an umbrella holder and found my self searching through a glass case positioned next to the door that contained mono light adapters and expensive wireless remotes and other accessories. I walked over to several sales reps from whom I had purchased items from previously and they nonchalantly signaled that they would be right with me. Thirty minutes later still no assistance a per usual. By this time I had emptied the contents of the "secure glass case" by the door, and found the item I needed with a little research on the web with my phone. I then re-packed the glass case and secured the doors. To my amazement not one of the 5 reps present that day, of which not all were NOT that busy even looked in my direction. This would literally happen every time I went to that store and this time I decided it would be the last. I politely walked up to the counter, excused myself with the weekend amateur that was being assisted with his battery selection, and let them know how I felt. After getting very blank looks from the staff (as if the problem was with me) the new guy Chris stepped up and asked me how things could be made right. He took my number and researched one of the parts I was unable to find and called me back a couple of days later with the details. But this was too little too late quite frankly. The odd thing is that this store has knowledgeable reps who once they begin helping you will give good service. The young man in the back Sebastian being one of them, he tries very hard to help. But from my experience, getting assistance in the first place, or even just an acknowledgement was difficult and frustrating. It was like I was invisible every time I went in there. From my perspective the location is lacking customer relationship management, they don't even use their CRM system to put your name in the computer when you make a purchase. This says volumes about how an organization thinks of its customers if it has the resources but makes no effort to capture the needs and trends of its customers. I know this because I promptly picked up the phone and called Mike Dobson the GM of the company and told him about my experience. He admitted that every sale should be rung up under the customer's name. Every time I went there I had to beg them to first enter and then find my name on the computer. I don't want to have to keep receipts etc. Anyway, I refuse to spend anymore of my hard-earned money at this location. In all fairness I have not tried any other Mike's location. Instead I took my business to Englewood Camera (a long drive) where they were most delightful to deal with. read more

Here's the thing about Mike's...they cater to every level of photographic expertise. Everyone from the point and shoot neophyte, to the working pro feels right at home here. I'm what the photo industry calls a "prosumer". That is, I'm a really, really, really serious amateur. I've had some formal training and many years of independent study and experience. If I had the ambition I could probably earn a pretty fair living at it. Mike's has been my go to camera shop for so long I can't remember when I started. If they'd price match the on line equipment sources they'd get a lot more of my money than they do. But, when I really need something and can't wait for an on line order, they are always able to take care of me for a reasonable, if not particularly frugal price. read more

I went in on the recommendation of a client who is a professional photographer. The folks there have all been very helpful and patient with me. They make real-life suggestions that help when I need it and don't treat me like a novice (which I am). Not cheap, but then you don't usually get cheap with real professionals. read more
