Passport service was quick and painless. I had a 15 year old disposable camera that Mikes was able to develop for me. Two other passport places told me no that they no longer did development of disposable cameras. I ordered a mug with a photo on it and was completely guided through the whole system. I have to give high praise to Alyssa, she provided me an easy stream lined experience for the three different items I needed. Pretty disappointed after today. A life long professional customer that will never return after trying to trade in some high end gear. The sales associate purposefully low balled me thinking I didn't know what I was talking about. After calling him out and showing him comps online he quickly backtracked claiming "he didn't know". Even apologizing for "trying to take advantage of me". I walked out. I've used mikes camera for over 20 years and $25,000 easily spent bc I liked the team and company. As a business owner, I am shocked by the lack of staffing at this location. The last three visits I have had include multiple 30 minute waits because there is only one person handling prints. The sales staff, which has three or four people at a time, feel too entitled to help the print side..: what's worse is that I feel the staff have an animosity towards their customers. It's almost as if they purposely run in the back when you wait in the line and not come back out hoping you leave and not give help. I have been a customer for ten years with so much spent, but now I will make sure I take it elsewhere. This is a shell of what it used to be. read more

This is the place to go to for passport photos! I was in and out in 20 minutes and there were three people in front of me. I did this same service at Walgreen's a year earlier but never got the application sent in so my photo expired. Passport photos have a shelf life of six months, who knew? So here we ago again! Two's a charm. Just take your seat on the stool for 20 seconds, primp, smile, no choppers, and say, "Wheels uppity!" Snap, and you're outie. Other perts-- Walgreens charged over $18 dollars and Mike's under $16! I also felt like Walgreens took a half hour since they had to edit the photo to government standards. Both provide a generic sleeve for your pics so no advantage there. read more

I came by the shop today and Rob gave me a free tutorial when I didn't even have a purchase in line but just needed a few pointers before going out to my shoot to use the notoriously difficult to balance DJI Ronin 4. I've been shopping here for years now and have rented from them as well. It's always a stellar experience all around from product to customer service. I couldn't reccomend Mike's Cameras enough vs the big box schmucks who don't care about you or know what you're talking about if you give them a call asking for setup assistance. I have been a customer at Mike's Camera Boulder for 30 years. I have bought cameras and taken classes. In the last 6 months I have only had bad experiences with the camera sales staff. I wanted to learn about a Leica camera and the sales man was arrogant and not helpful. The second time I went in to look at a Leica camera, I had a different sales man and he showed me the camera. I asked a question about the functions and he said, "Leica is new to the store and I don't know much about them". He took the camera away from me as I was looking at it , put it back on the shelf and walked away. I will no longer shop at this store. read more

I went in seeking help on a print for a memorial and the team there could not have been more helpful or professional. We were concerned about doing the 16 x 20 size that I wanted as it might appear to blurry with the photo that I had. They printed up 3 different sizes for me, just in case. Colorado Blvd store. I had two 8x10 printed from 35mm negatives, and the printer did not dust off the negative before scanning. I was dissappointed by the lack of professionalism. Also, the girls behind the photo counter were too busy to wait on me at 5:40pm, when all I had was a pick up. I had more work for them, but was so let down by their professionalism, that I decided to go somewhere else. read more

I had a painful experience at this location of Mike's Camera today. I went in to pick up a photo enlargement. The clerk at the North counter was helping another customer. I waited patiently for a length of time. Although I was standing near the clerk and customer--the clerk never acknowledged my presence. Finally, I walked around the store and found another clerk to help me. We went to the North counter to retrieve my enlargement. At that time, a new customer entered the store and headed to the North counter. The clerk was still working with the same customer; however, she paused to verbally acknowledge the new customer and told her that she would help her shortly. I am an African American woman. I will say that when I left the store, I had the worst feeling of discrimination and disrespect. Emotionally, I tried to shake it off but the humiliation remained. This encounter was very hurtful and I would not wish it upon any other person. read more

I needed Canadian passport photos which have different size requirements than American passports. They got me in right away. I have family who live in Boulder. They told me Mike's Camera is a first class retailer which provides excellent customer service. I share this upfront because of my experience today. When I couldn't do business with them. My situation was unique. I live out of state and wanted to buy a camera that was only available at their Denver location. I needed the camera shipped overnight to my home. When I called Mike's headquarters in Boulder, they told me they would have to get the camera to Boulder and they would ship it. But the UPS overnight shipping charge is $180. Yes, $180. So I decided to call the Denver store to see if I could pay for it over the phone and then have someone drop it off at a FedEx Office location two blocks away. That's when I learned Mike's doesn't allow phone orders. Guess they've been burnt before by unscrupulous individuals. I asked if I could order and pay online and then get someone to pick up the camera. Nope. It has to be shipped out of Boulder. I really wanted this $290 Sony point-and-click camera for a special occasion I'm going to on Thursday. Unfortunately, I couldn't buy the camera I wanted from Mike's. read more

The people are nice enough but wouldn't recommend to anyone who seriously shoots film. Their film scans came out genuinely awful. Pixelated and dusty is not the standard that should be set. And when I asked for a rescan, they refused and said they look fine. They also broke my film camera when I brought it by to get a different part of the camera checked out. They sent it out and told me they'd fix both issues for free since they broke it even more. They had my camera for two months and then sent it back to me basically saying "oh well, we didn't have the part so we can't fix it, best of luck".
