Don't judge a book by its cover. Never more apt than this amazing Auto Service Shop. Suddenly, when driving in the deep south of Calgary my front window wiper was not moving! Panic, as I was all set to head to BC to assist my Mother who had just fallen and broken her hip. I drove immediately to a (the shop I had been using)major car dealership shop to fix by front window blade: had asked if they could check out the fuse. I was told this was not the problem. I was scheduled to bring the car in the following morning and have it assessed further with the expectation the window blade motor would need replacing (this vehicle is designed with only one window wiper). So an estimate of upwards of $500.00 was given. Panic! Meanwhile, a family member (who actually lives in California!)found Mike's Auto Body shop and read the reviews. And recommended I give them a call. So I did. Quick turnaround as I was in the shop the next day, and mighty pleased with the knowledge plus service level. Mike is the kind of guy who would run a business in a friendly, small town. Very honest. One of his technicians looked at the car, and found it was a fuse which had been put in the wrong spot. And the BEST part.....NO CHARGE! RELIEF....does not begin to describe my reaction. Bought these wonderful guys at the shop lunch and headed out to the Highway with a huge smile. I have been having problems with my brakes ever since I bought my car 2 years ago..they have never not squeaked. In those 2 years I have spent over 2000 dollars, had the pads changed or resurfaced 4 times at the dealership and other auto shops and the rotors changed twice. When I told Mike the problems I was having he was very hesitant to try the same things and was concerned about having me spend more money for the same results. After calling around all day and doing some research on a service they are subscribed to that has people post unique problems and solutions, he came up with the idea to try semi-metallic instead of ceramic pads(ceramic pads are suppose to be superior and squeak at a frequency humans can't hear)...anyway since I've had them replaced I have not heard anything. Finally, I can enjoy driving my car and not cringe every time I come to a stop. I have to thank Mike for spending extra time and caring about my problem or I could have spent thousands more and they still might not be fixed. If you want the care and attention that a dealership probably won't give you go here..Mike knows his stuff and his shop has been around 40 years. PS: An older gentleman (80 years old) still spry and working full time with a brand new hip selling shop supplies came in asking if Mike wanted to buy a squeegee..he told the man he would ask the mechanic if they needed one. I would not recommend going to this place. My family had been seeing Mike for a very long time, so when i bought my first car, i bought it from Mikes auto. I continued to see him re: all car needs for almost 10 years. About two years ago, i went to Mikes auto to have my winter tires changed to summer tires. I left the car there for four hours, picked it up, paid and left. The next time i went to have my winter tires put on my car, Mike told me the winter tires were already on. I told Mike i was not happy that i had paid for a service which they failed to provide. He told me it was my fault. He said i shouldve noticed. I was a 24 year old women. What kind of a a**hole takes advantage of that. i mentioned that my grandparents and parents and aunts and uncles had faithfully seen him for years. I asked for some kind of compensation. Nope didnt happen because it was "my fault." The guy is a total crook. Since then he has ripped off my uncle and my dad as well. Find somewhere else to go because this place is far from decent. I should also mention that the first used car i bought from him burst into flames on the side of the highway after an 8 hour trip less than a year after i bought it. Someone pulled my sister out of the car just before it happened. Not a word of lie. True story. read more

I'm new in this city and when I had a problem with my car I've found Mike's Auto Service on the internet. The reviews were very promising and so I gave it try and visited the shop. The people were friendly and in no time I got an appointment for an exact check-up of my problem. When I went there 2 days later they inspected my car very carefully and afterwards in the office Mr. Mike explained to me exactly what the problem is. Since it was a major repair he phoned around for more than half of an hour to find the cheapest prices on parts for me. I just felt to be treated very well and he gave me a date for the repair 3 days later and told me it could take all day till it's done. I was prepared for that and very pleased when I could pick up the car at 3 pm. Again: Mike explained everything to me what was done and that the job went faster than expected and therefore the labour would be cheaper too - this never ever happened to me before. I can tell everybody that I was very pleased with the service. My car is running super again and I know where to go again if I ever have a problem with my car. I sure can recommend Mike's Auto Service - it's the best experience I've made so far when I had car problems. Super job, super service, nice people !! read more

I went to Mike's to get an inspection done on a possible vehicle I was interested in purchasing. Mike was upfront, and honest, which I really appreciated! He is very knowledgable, and takes the time to explain things properly to you. I decided to buy that vehicle, and go back to his shop, and get repairs done. It was reasonably priced, done in a timely fashion, and my car is driving a lot better compared to before I went in to get work done. When I went to pick up my car, I had my 6 year old daughter with me, and Mike was SO sweet. He gave her a candy. haha (: After we left the shop, my daughter said "Mom, he is SO nice!" I will for sure be going back. I like shops like these, because Mike has been doing this for years....there's pictures on his wall of him beside cars when he was younger, he knows his stuff. "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" is right! Honest, so fair, explains what is needed, why, & when... We have been going to Mike's since moving back to Calgary 19 years ago and he has never disappointed. Yesterday through my stress tears from hearing loud offensive crunching and grinding coming from my car & money worries (impending divorce), Mike offered up his always-ready humanness to help me breathe and get clear on what I needed to do. Despite being packed to the rafters with sick vehicles yesterday, Mike & his awesome crew (including the next 2 generations - son & identical-to-teenage-Mike grandson) got my car done by the end of the day! I had the exact opposite experience from what I typically expect when it comes to car repair - it only cost me a third of what I was expecting to pay! First, when I called for my quote, it was cheapest of all 3 places I called. (I thought I needed a new drive belt.) Happy to hear that, I made arrangements to drop my car off and have it fixed the same day (not in a week like the other places). Then, the mechanic drove me back to work (even though, as a small shop, they don't usually do that), then when I called in the afternoon to check on it, it turned out that I only needed the belt tightened, and so they only charged me the minimum shop fee! Amazing. They totally could have replaced my screaming belt and I probably would have thanked them. Thanks Mike's!!! read more

I've been bring my cars to Mike's since I first moved to Calgary 10 years ago. And recommend them to everyone of my friends. What impressed me right from my first visit, was how no one talked down to me. Mike was incredibly straightforward about what went wrong (alternator) and brought out the old part to explain it to me :) Most recently my car just stopped. I got it towed in, the diagnosis was it ran out of gas. They put some gas in, and let me know that my gauges and sensors are not longer trustworthy (it's an old beater of a car). Mike could have charged me for the gas and the mechanics time, but he didn't. Instead he advised me to track the gas via milage from now on. I just wish he had 2 shops in Calgary :) read more

I was driving from Ottawa to Victoria BC and my car was only running on three cylinders with no way to get past Calgary. I called Mike who agreed to take a look even though he had no available appointments and within 10 minutes he had a new spark plug put in, which another mechanic had not been successful in doing, and told me I was good to continue on my trip. On top of it he didn't charge me anything. Without Mike's kindness and the mechanical knowledge of him and his staff my trip would have ended in Calgary. I don't usually take the time to send a review, but it was necessary in this case. I was absolutely impressed with the knowledge and and service I received at Mike's Auto Service. I had received a few quotes for a replacement rear view mirror and their's was by far the most reasonable. While there, I informed them of another issue with a wheel well I noticed shortly before dropping the car off. They showed me what the issue was, and were able to fix this issue that day as well! I am so grateful that a friend recommended Mike's garage to me. Mike and his staff go above and beyond for their customers. Their work is excellent and they always have saved me money. On the weekend, I had the engine light come on, which always makes me panic. On Monday when I called, they told me to come in the afternoon and they would look at the problem. They found that I had a leak and got the part to fix it riight away for a more than reasonable price. These guys are amazing and we are very lucky to have them in Calgary. read more

I would recommend this place to anyone. Their front might not look like its top class. But they guys are, and their service and honesty are. These guys wont even try to BS you. They will tell you straight up what is going on and what to expect. Stopped by to get my engine light checked. The guys in the back dropped what they were doing to scan it and fixed the problem right then. These guys are lifesavers, we rocked up at quarter to 5, on a Friday afternoon, at the beginning of a long weekend. Even though they were super busy they took a look at our car and managed to get one of their guys to diagnose our engine problem. They also went out of their way to find us the cheapest part we needed and gave us instructions on how to put it in ourselves! I had electrical problems start on Sunday. Phoned on Monday and was able to take my Jeep in on Tuesday morning. Just over an hour after I dropped it off, it was fixed. Windows, door locks, overhead lights, and alarm system all working now. Plus, it cost less than what I would have expected. Very pleased with the service and the price. I took my 2004 VW Golf to Mike's Auto Service with the airbag light on. Mike's mechanics were very helpful in quickly solving the problem. They did not charge to read the car diagnostics, where other garages wanted a minimum one hours labour.
