Had my tires changed just before winter arrived, got 4 for the price of 3. these guys did a great job, professional and all around taking the time to tell me about other issues i should address at a later date,. if you need a to get it done, yes it might be or not a tad higher, at least your not waiting for the tires to arrive then book an appointment , and hoping winter hasn't started before this happens. they work hard and should be paid accordingly , so 5 stars from me ... i'll be back soon enough .. lol read more

I brought my vehicle in for an oil change and I was told that the technician put in 8 L of oil into my vehicle that only holds 6 L. When I mentioned it to the manager, he told me that if the dipstick is low, they keep adding oil. I had to bring my vehicle in a second time to have the extra oil drained at which time they told me that there was only an extra half a litre of oil. This means they charged me for a litre and a half more than what they actually put in. When I ask for a refund since I had to come in twice for a simple oil change and because if I hadn't checked the oil myself there could have been damage to seals and the catalytic converter, I was told the computer system wouldn't allow them to do it. Was the worst service ever! I would advise to bring your vehicle somewhere else! read more

I would never return to this place! They did a simple coolant flush lately and when I got home, the car had a huge puddle under it within half an hour!! I went to a different shop quickly (so I wouldn't have engine damage due to over heating) and thank goodness the 2nd shop quickly and professionally fixed the leaks and loose hoses the morons at Midas left un-checked on my new vehicle! I contacted my lawyer and am placing BBB complaints against this gong show of a dump! read more

Do you believe in serendipity? I do, especially when it brings me a deal for an oil change and tire rotation and a great experience like I had this afternoon. I was out running some errands and decided I would pop into my usual on-the-go oil, lube and filter place on 16th Ave. As I circled closer, an add on the radio for the summer package at Midas came over the radio... and wouldn't you know it, there was a location just a couple of blocks down from where I was headed. So, in I went to see if they could squeeze me in this afternoon. As luck would have it, they did! Though I was reminded that they don't ordinarily take walk-ins. The shop manager was an absolutely pleasant fellow. Yes, he's a fellow through and through. Super friendly and easy-going, he asked me to leave my keys and said it would take about 45 mins to an hour for my tire rotation, oil change and 45 point inspection of fluid levels and the likes. I wandered the neighbourhood for a good half hour before coming back to wait in the waiting room (it's tiny, a full hour in there would have been a little long I think). My car was already up on the lift and being worked on. I remembered then that my windshield wiper had been on the fritz and asked the shop manager if they could replace those as well while they were working on things. No problemo! When it came time to pay up, it was a little more than what the summer special on the radio had advertised... but a little more I mean twice as much. Total bill was just shy of $100. But the detailed receipt shows that included $47 for my new wipers. Works for me! The shop manager also told me the pressure on my windshield wiper handles (is that what you call them) was really low, so he had the mechanic (or technician? Not sure what to call them) apply some lubricant to each of those so they'd work better. Much appreciated! That was the problem I was having with them in the first place... they didn't seem to wipe much of the rain or snow away and I couldn't figure out it the holder was bent or what was going on. He also walked through the points on the 45 point inspection list with me and pointed out the things I would want to keep an eye on. And I daresay... that clicking that was coming through the car sometimes? I think they took care of that too! Although I didn't mention it and they may not have even known they fixed it... I had an oil change a couple of weeks ago. After I left my car and my car keys, I went back to the reception to get my car keys and take something from my car. As I picked up my keys I noticed that the battery of the key chain, and the top of the battery that closes it were gone. When I showed it to the reception guy he just told me he took the key and placed in on the order wall, but this was the first time I noticed that my battery and the button that closes it were gone. I found the receptionist and the other guy, the manager, to be very cold and distant, and couldn't care less. This is my first and last time. read more

The staff is friendly enough and the shop looks clean and professional. They charge you for services that should be free, like a computer scan and a pressure test. Prices are not competitive AT ALL. Will never return. read more

The wait time was minimal, and a couple of other services that need to be done were brought to my attention. Everyone was friendly and efficient. I was very happy with the service. read more

I'm always hesitant of going into automotive places for repair work. I always feel vulnerable and ready to be taken advantage of. I'd been going into this shop for awhile and had built up a trusting relationship with the guys that worked there. When I walked in and discovered that it was under new management my old anxiety came creeping out and I wanted to turn and head for the door. I brought my car in for some pretty major work and was scared I'd be taken for a ride. But these guys are fantastic!! The original time frame for getting the part was at least 10 days. Sonny called a colleague and was able to get the part in one day. My car was ready by the next working day and the cost was way lower than what I'd expected. Sonny was skilled and very knowledgable about my car and what I needed. I left feeling free of anxiety and happy my car was fixed and running well. read more

Today I brought my car into Midas 16th Ave Calgary. I dropped the car off at 7:30am and a middle aged guy greeted me. As the othe poster mentioned, the guy was very pleasant. I think his name is Don or something like that....So far so good, right? It gets better. I get a call from him and he wonders where the tire lock for my car is. Not rude or anything...super nice interaction with me. I tell him where it is and he goes away again. I get a call back in another 45 min and they have done the check on my car. He tells me the squeek from my brakes are due to the brakes requiring a cleaning. He tells me that the brakes still have life in them and they should last around a year. The fact he could have said anything to me but they told me straight up that I don't require brakes and the only cost right now would be the $24 inspection fee is amazing if you ask me. I called him back and let him know I would hold off on doing the brakes as we are going to Mexico in less than a month and money is tight. No issues from his side. I also asked if he could rotate my tires when they go back on and he didn't have an issue with that either. I would recommend these guys to anyone looking for an honest brake shop. Don't forget - they also have teh lifetime warranty on the brakes and if you need your brakes done again you only have to pay for the parts (I think? check on that) Todd read more

When Brian and Don where still running this branch and the guys before them this was the place to bring you car for maintenance. But the new manager just makes you want to go anywhere else then there. They don't keep their promises and make you feel that you are like a second rank citizen. And complaining to Midas results in never hearing from the franchise so I would say stay away from Midas in Calgary I for sure will. read more

I took my car in for an oil change, and of course they come up with a long list of required repairs. I take offense to one - a new headlight required. I thought it was odd; had never noticed it was out, and you would know... I got home and noticed that it was just a simple wire/plug connection on my (simple to see) Volvo 240. All they had to do was look, and ensure the connection, so I find it at least a bit fishy..Although I am not 100% sure, did they actually consciously pull the connection apart and hope I wouldn't notice. I have lived near 16 ave NW for 20 years, and they would not be the first automotive shop to gouge people who they think are one-time customers just passing through. Beware!!! read more

I really like this location. Don and Brian are awesome. I've been having issues with my jeep over heating. I initially took it to some idiot on Edmonton Trail who replaced the thermostat and water pump. I then took it to Midas for a radiator flush. They recommended a new radiator because there was quite a bit of build up in the old one. Well this was not a successful solution. I brought it back the next day and they discovered that the thermostat had been put on backwards! It sucks that I had to pay for a new radiator, but it could've been worse - they could've recommended a new head gasket. The radiator would've needed replacing soon as the mileage is at 215000. I also bring my jeep here for oil changes. Don and Brian have always been really nice and helpful. I definitely recommend this location. read more
