Avoid at all cost. My ceiling fans were hung with drywall screws and there was an electrical fire in the kitchen.

E/R Electric - Upgrades before and after in Somerville MA

    E/R Electric

This is the second time I have hired E/R Electric. They made themselves available almost…read moreimmediately, after ordering the needed equipment, and installed so efficiently they were in and out in less than an hour. He went above and beyond to help with a couple of extra things at no charge. Highly recommend!

E/R Electric (Eddie Rodgriguez) was the electrical subcontractor for my bathroom renovation project and installed a Panasonic Whisper-quiet exhaust fan with heater. He instructed my wife and I to "never run the heater and the exhaust fan simultaneously or you will burn up the motor". I should have questioned this at the time but was busy dealing with other major issues with the renovation. Well.. after the fan burned up for accidentally switching both on at the same time, I called a local electrician since we had other electrical work in the house to be done. The electrician who responded had to do a bit of research including discussing the issue on the phone with Panasonic customer support, and ultimately determined that the fan was wired incorrectly and installed with two hot wires connected (one for each the heater and exhaust) instead of a single hot wire to both as clearly spelled out in the wiring instructions for this fan. As this is a $400 fan, my new electrician suggested we reach out to E/R Electric, as he assumed it would save me money in parts and labor, fully expecting that Eddie Rodriguez would want to know he installed it incorrectly and fix the problem out of professional courtesy. Well this was the only thing my new electrician was wrong about, as Eddie reacted like a real jerk instead-- he refused to come and look at the issue, refused to speak to my new electrician, and basically just refused to be a decent person let alone a professional. So I paid nearly $2000 to have this repaired by the new electrician who was shocked at the response I received. He also found electrical code violations by E/R including multiple buried / hidden junction boxes and other technical shortfalls. Hopefully Eddie reads this and will learn to install these correctly, because now that the fan is wired correctly we CAN run the exhaust fan and heater simultaneously after all!! The entire situation and findings were so shocking that my new electrician has suggested I file a complaint with the state licensing board, which I am considering. Bottom line...DO NOT USE THIS ELECTRICIAN.

It's rare these days to find people with this level of honesty, professionalism, and integrity. Pat…read moreKerins and his father came to our home on very short notice when our air conditioning stopped working. They spent more than three hours in the heat carefully troubleshooting every possible electrical cause. They were incredibly thorough, methodical, and explained everything they were checking. In the end, they determined the problem wasn't electrical at all--it was an issue that needed to be addressed by our oil/HVAC company. Despite spending hours diagnosing the problem and saving us from chasing the wrong repair, they refused to accept any payment. That kind of honesty is almost unheard of today. Many companies would have billed for the time regardless, but Pat and his father genuinely cared more about helping us than making money. They are knowledgeable, hardworking, respectful, and truly exceptional people. I recommend them without hesitation and will be calling them first for any future electrical work. If you're looking for an electrician you can completely trust, look no further.

We knew we wanted to hardwire smoke detectors too, but wanted to find someone who give us an honest assessment of what else needed doing and what just could be done. We were getting the runaround with some of the chains but someone on Nextdoor recommend Pat and Steve and when I spoke with them I just felt like they were honest and trustworthy, I'm so glad we booked them! Steve and Pat paid so much attention to our house and helped us understand how the house worked, all the considerations for the things we might want to do, and gave us incredibly fair prices and did excellent work. We've had them back a few times as we have upgraded quite a few things and added new circuits and a new subpanel. They've caught things our house inspector missed and have talked me out of things I didn't need or could do later. Never an upsell, just good honest experts practicing their craft. Our kids love having them over as well--really great guys. A quick story: We wanted to add another ceiling light to our hallway on the top floor, and Pat and Steve drove around to a bunch of old hardware and antique stores and found a nearly perfect match for the other 1930s fixtures--you wouldn't know it wasn't originally there! Just real attention to detail and customer care. Above and beyond.
