We selected D-Wing to replace our roof, gutters and to do some trim work and we had two issues that…read moreoccurred during this experience that I wanted to share: Issue One: When we signed the contract and gave them their deposit our salesperson (John) said it should be about two and half weeks for them to get the project started. After five weeks lapsed without any contact or updates from D-Wing, I reached out. They then informed us that they were ready to start the following week. Although weather caused an additional delay, communication remained sparse and unreliable throughout the project. For a job costing nearly $12,000 expecting basic customer service and timely updates does not seem unreasonable, but D-Wing appears to operate differently. Issue Two: For our gutter installation we requested a larger sized downspout be used because of ongoing clogging issues. This type of downspout requires a specific transition nozzle to fit the gutter properly in certain situations. The D-Wing crew or subcontractor choose not to use the correct transition nozzle and connected the widest part of the downspout to narrowest part of the gutter. As a result, all three front downspouts extended beyond the gutter base, leaving a gap about two inches open and exposed at the connection. When I questioned D-Wing about this, they said the connection was proper and commonly used. I then sent them an example of the transition nozzle that should have been installed, but they continued to defend their method. After I pressed the issue, they offered only to bend and modify the installed downspouts (aka "Jerry-rigged") rather than use the correct nozzle. This response seems very unprofessional for an established contracting company. And D-Wing never resolved the issue satisfactorily. I apologize for being a little wordy, I was trying to be thorough and helpful. Hopefully, you all have better luck finding a contractor...Be careful.

Randall and Son is hands down the best around and I recommend them without hesitation…read more I live in Schaumburg and we were hit with a freak hail storm in July last year that directly hit my house with golf ball and grape sized hail for about half an hour. Needless to say, the roof, deck and the siding of my house took a severe beating. I heard about Randall from a friend, so I gave them a ring and the owner, Ed, handled everything from the beginning like a pro. He came to my house and met with my State Farm claims representative when they came out to inspect the damage, which really put my mind at ease because I know insurance companies can be shady about what they cover. Thankfully, they determined that my whole house was totaled so there was no back and forth over that. Because my roof wasn't leaking, I asked Ed if we could hold off on doing all of the work until spring when I was sure no more hail storms would be blowing through, and he was incredibly accommodating and allowed me to schedule the work for mid-March. Ed took care of all dealings with the insurance company, which was so appreciated since I'm a new homeowner and frankly had no idea what I was doing.
