    Ahi katsu combo
    Shyanne C.

Mikes fresh fish! The name says it all! Mike is the owner. And he only has the best of the fresh fish hands down! He's located on the westside. In Mailii. On the beach side. White food truck. He's usually open Wednesday-Saturday. 12pm till sell out. One my my favorites is the Ahi katsu! And pan fry Ahi!! Taste so fresh and so clean! Very delicious! He also has different desserts you have to try as well! The butterfinger cupcakes are my favorite also. You want to try the best Ahi katsu you better come down westside and try Mikes fresh fish.

Instagram surfing while hungry is never a good thing... I stumbled on this trucks Instagram page and the owner seemed like a great guy via his videos and the food looked great...but I've never got myself to drive to Makaha for it... ...until covid hit and we were on lockdown! Lol! With nothing else to do but eat, we made the long journey from town to Makaha! One order of ahi katsu and a side of inamona ahi and I was set! Perfectly breaded ahi fillets covered in a teriyaki sauce with a spicy drizzle were nestled on a bed of steamed white rice! Accompanied by a side of corn (meh), the portions were extremely generous! The inamona ahi was extremely fresh with great flavor! A must order if I ever make the journey back... I'm always on the look out for new trucks and places to try. This one is a gem! Great service, awesome food, great prices make for an amazing meal! Hire them up on IG and support our amazing local businesses!

We had the poke nachos and fish tacos. Great lunch while checking out beaches on the Waianae area.

I miss coming to this spot with family to get plate lunches when we lived down in waianae, but since we haven't been to this location in a while we finally made the attempt yesterday from Kapolei to come down to Maili. I'm happy we did because the pastele plates we got was 1/1 mild and spicy with Mac salad and 2 scoop rice. The meat was tender and savory giving you the correct amount of flavor with seasoning and balance. You can tell they put the heart into making these. Although there are many variations to Pasteles this one is my favorite. The Mac salad is good also better than other places I've tried. The opihi I also brought and added my own sauce to it with and enjoyed it with their Hawaiian Style (Inamona) poke on the side. My only recommendation is the panadeja was more of a pulled pork look and of course that's what it is but I was looking for more of a stew consistency of which it was not. Now don't get me wrong the flavor wasn't lacking and was juicy but it was just shredded pork inside and you can see couple of black olives that's it. I will still purchase them but a slight upgrade would be nice to those, just my opinion.

A lot of varietyon the menu (pic) we went with the chicken wings (good) lau lau (ok) shoyu chicken (phenomenal) I am sure they sell out for sure!!! and the empanadas(soo good!!) They probably sell out of this too. Portions was fair and prices reasonable. (Nothing is cheap anymore) Its a place I always drove by and wondered about but now next time I am in the area will be stopping by here for sure!! A hidden jem in plain sight

The ambiance at Kaʻahaʻaina Café sets it apart from your average neighborhood café. The atmosphere is laid-back and focused on community, embodying a local vibe that truly represents the West Side instead of mimicking a trendy Honolulu idea. The overall experience at Kaʻahaʻaina Café was truly something I valued the most. The vibe was relaxed and inviting, allowing for a seamless transition into enjoying the meal. The service was not only friendly but also efficient, with the staff contributing to a warm atmosphere that perfectly complemented the café's local vibe. That level of reliability is crucial, particularly in a venue where it appears that numerous patrons are familiar faces. We needed to grab some food before heading to the beach and this lovely place popped up, so we decided to give it a try. Menu has a great selection and prices are affordable! I got the Spicy BBQ Chicken (mini) and my designated driver got the Mini Combo. My Spicy BBQ Chicken was very well-sauced and not too spicy. The sauce was great, but make sure you're not wearing anything light-colored (it will stain). The sides of seaweed and kimchi were great as well. It was definitely more "local" style kimchi, but nonetheless, delicious. The Mini Combo was very well-portioned and had a great variety of protein. Every piece was delicious and not too salty. The banchan was also very complimentary and tasty. Again, prices were great and very justified. Portions are generous and taste was present. We called in our order and it was ready when we got there. Just picked up and paid - easy as pie. If I go back for a beach side gathering, I will definitely come by here again to bring to the beach. I think this is a gem on the West Side and hope to see them again very soon!
