They left the yard clean and tidy every night and were very nice to deal with. We will definitely hire them again for interior painting next. They even do repainting of kitchen cabinets. HIGHLY recommend.

This is quite possibly the best experience I've ever had for any house project…read more I first met with Marc to get a quote for our exterior house painting project. He was on time, professional and friendly. He answered any questions I had and went above and beyond to note areas where there was rotten wood to replace. He then got me a quote in about 20 minutes and I must say, the price was incredibly fair and we moved forward with it immediately. Marc was also incredibly receptive whenever I had questions on paint color combinations and made the experience so seamless and stress free! From there, we worked with Gabriel and his team for the actual house painting project. The team was so friendly and not only made our place look like a dream house, but made sure to finish at an optimal time due to inclement weather. Gabriel was an excellent project manager who was always there to answer questions and check on the house to be sure that everything looked perfect. I HIGHLY recommend Aurora Exterior Painting for any housing painting project, they really are the best!

Poor prep work overall, none in some places. Painted our windows (sliders) and several could no…read morelonger be opened and were ruined in trying to do so since the seals ripped off, or at minimum the paint came off. We were going to replace all the windows anyway, but I'd be really upset if we had to buy new windows because of them. Speaks to their lack of care/professionalism, and communicating with them was difficult at best. They didn't scrape some of the vertical trim at all, just painted over existing peeling finish. Lasted maybe 5 years and needed to be redone. Didn't properly replace wood trim with Aztek, or similar, even though that's what I paid for. I recently had to redo all of it since water was trapped and rotted the wood behind it (which, again, I paid to have replaced). I should have watched them closely when they were here. I'm not sure I even got a second coat either and if I did it was sprayed on (saw them using a sprayer at some point NOT hand painting). Now I have many areas where the clapboards/trim/sheathing are damaged due to years of insufficient protection. I paid for caulking to be applied where clapboards meet the vertical trim. This didn't happen at all, and cost us quite a bit in rotted sheathing and cedar. Around the chimney the work was really poor. Really a shame since the price was good and the owner seemed competant and the company had signs everywhere at the time. All of the vertical trim peeled about 5 years later, exposing raw wood, it clearly had very little adhesion and also had a latex quality about it, not stain. So I think they stained right over the paint. This paint job caused me a great deal these years later. Won't be using them again.

We hired Handy Lou to do a total gut and remodel of our 1940's Cape Cod style kitchen and couldn't…read morehave been happier! He was very accessible, always in contact with us and quick to respond whether we reached out by phone, text, email, etc. His rate was more than fair, and totally transparent for all costs that would be involved. He really helped us plan and basically hand hold and walk us through the entire process from conceptualizing our options, where to buy materials, even color and design recommendations. He gave us an aggressive time window for job completion which was important to us with the Holidays looming; and he nailed it - finishing with time to spare. The work was absolutely meticulous, and the attention to details and small nuances make such a huge difference! He even went around to touch up and improve other details around the area not in the scope of the job; just because he thought it would improve the aesthetic and he takes so much pride in his work. This guy is a real artisan - not a laborer. He genuinely enjoys crafting beautiful work and it shows. Our kitchen came out mint - better than we even expected! In all honesty, he was so good at what he does we would be willing to pay MORE to have him work on our stuff than other contractors. I can't imagine using anyone else going forward. 5 star quality all around.

We had just finished a kitchen remodel in January 2019 (replaced all the cabinets, countertops, and…read morelights), but the floorman we'd contracted with had left us high and dry. We had subfloor and while we could have installed the new laminate floor we had, we'd have done a horrible job at it. Lou Gagne was highly recommended to us by a local business, many of whose employees had used his services. We gave him a call that evening. He came out to see us a couple days later and we discussed what had to be done. Install the laminate floor throughout the kitchen, dining room, and attached hallway, install baseboard everywhere but the kitchen, and install threshold where required. He said it would take two days and gave us a reasonable price. OK, so that's the background. Here's what we got. We got a perfectly installed floor, perfectly installed baseboard, someone who really enjoys his work (he sings to his boom box while on the job!), and he fixed some things that a previous contractor hadn't done right because it bugged him and only took a few minutes. The join between the living and dining rooms is perfect. My wife and I did the living room, and not particularly well. He matched the grout lines in the laminate perfectly. In the kitchen he got the laminate floor so close to the cabinets it looks like the floor goes under the cabinets. His idea of using gray grout was perfect as it matches the grout lines in the floor. These walls in our house are not square, but you'd never know it when you look at the baseboard corners. It didn't matter whether it was an inside or outside corner, in close quarters or not, Lou did it perfectly. He also screwed our subfloor down as it wasn't correctly nailed into the joists during construction in 1986. Can you say "squeak"? Not anymore! Lou also gave us some ideas of how we're going to do the backsplash in our kitchen and behind the stove, which we're going to take him up on as soon as possible. My wife and I trust Lou completely. When he says he can do something, he can really do it. Fair price, great work, and it really gives us pride of ownership in our home again. And at some point, we're going to find a figurine that represents what he can do and how well he does it, even if we need to design it ourselves.

Excellent service, very professional, highly recommend!

I was in the market to get two, well-past-their-prime doors replaced at my home; a storm door and…read morethe entry door. Faced with, once again, the prospect of having to gather names, call people, setup appointments for estimates, and all the other fun and excitement that comes with hiring for home projects, I resigned myself, against my own better judgement, to go to a big box store to get everything done through them. I mean, it's just doors. How much of a hassle could it be? Notice how I said, "against my own better judgement". Needless to say, it was a fiasco and details are for another review. Despite the drama, I did manage to eke out a ballpark figure of an estimate that included hardware and installation/labor costs so I at least knew how much this was going to cost me no matter who performed the install. Otherwise, I found myself back at square one until I was talking with a friend about this project. He asked why I didn't call Scott's Siding and Remodeling (SSR) as they do doors too, not just roofing and siding. Given my wonderful experience with the roof, I promptly called SSR after hours and left a message with the answering service. Scott called me back the next day and we went over some of the preliminary details. We scheduled a day so he could come out to see what needed to be done, take measurements, etc. Before that though, he said he would mail me a packet containing catalogs for storm and entry doors for me to sift through. Sure enough two days later, the package arrived in a professional-appearing and addressed envelope. Everything Scott said that would be in the package was and I went immediately to work on looking at and choosing what I wanted for the doors and hardware. The catalogs offered far more and better options than the big box store which was nice to see. As with the roof experience, Scott showed up on time and was ready to assess the project. After we ironed out the details and measurements taken, I offered up my choices from the catalog which he promptly recorded. My order would be custom, so there was at least a three week delay while the order processed, then once they were in, we'd go over getting an installation date. I planned for at least a month, month and a half time span from order to completed install. The price? Pretty much on par with what the big box store was asking. SSR came in a few hundred dollars higher, but that did not bother me at all; you get what you pay for. That was late August. Fast-forward to early October. Scott called saying he had a sudden opening and wanted to know if I was available the following day. I was on vacation from work, so it could not have been better timing. Scott informs me that my doors will be delivered in the afternoon and "Don" will be at my house the next day at 8-8:30AM. At around 12:30PM, the doors and all applicable materials were delivered as promised. The next morning at 8:15, again on time, Don and Ed arrive. After rechecking measurements and looking at the physical doors, they went to work. Don and Ed were very professional and friendly. I had no misgivings about their abilities. They worked at a steady pace and methodically. I never got the sense they were in a hurry which I liked. The impression I got was they wanted the job done in a timely manner, but done right, not half-assed like the previous doors had been. By about 2PM, the job was complete. The new doors were in, trim replaced, jamb, sill, and a small part of the trim on the outside of the door was replaced too which was appreciated. The result is a clean, proportionate aesthetic that makes the doors look a bit more classy. I could not be happier with the end result! Throughout the project, Don and Ed cleaned up the work area and even swept my driveway off of wood shavings/dust despite my insistence it wasn't necessary as I was going to wash and vacuum my car. The professionalism and quality workmanship is refreshing and quite lacking in this industry. It's reassuring to see there are companies like SSR who are high above the usually negative contractor reputation. Listen, if my roof review wasn't good enough, this second review serves as more ammo at what a class-act SSR is. I can't stress it enough that SSR should be on your list of potential hires for your next home project, if not the company hired, if you're looking for no hassles and quality work.
