I called several times and finally heard back that they could not get to it. On Wednesday they said that my transmission was ok and they needed more time to diagnose it. I told them I had to have it back by Friday to drive back to Texas. Thursday they told me that it needed new catalytic converters and some of the parts were in Denver and if they could get them delivered on Friday they would get it fixed. I told them that I would get them from Denver if needed. They said they would call me first thing Friday morning. I did not hear anything and started calling at 8:30. Finally when I called for the third time at 12:38 he texted me that he would call me right back. At 1:18 he called back to tell me that he could not get the parts until Saturday and they could put them on Monday. I told him that I had to come get it. He charged me for 4 hours at $160 an hour and did not give me a report because his computer was down. Would not give my keys until he ran my card or gave him $500 cash or $660 on my card. So he used extortion for me to get my truck. Hope he didn't pocket the cash. No diagnostic report or explanation of what he did for four hours. Very unprofessional and unorganized.

Since we were on our way home to Denver, this was immensely helpful to narrow down the potential issue and he let us know it wouldn't be wise to drive on the misfiring cylinder. While they couldn't fit us in same day, he was helpful in guiding us elsewhere. If I were from the area, I'd absolutely feel comfortable using their services for automotive work!

I was obliged or else I would be charged 50 dollars a day for storage. He left the key on the back wheel. When I went to pick up the car it would not start. I called him and left a message pertaining to this. He called back later and left a message and said the car started just fine and put the key back in the same place. I went back and it started barely. I started to drive it home an the fuel pressure was just as bad as when I brought it in. He will not give my 500 dollars back and I cannot bring it back unless I am prepared to spend more money. I feel defrauded and very upset that this man ripped me off and I still have a car that will not run properly. He is the only saab mechanic in the valley and now I have a car I cannot drive and out 500 dollars I would recommend taking your car Volvo, saab or whatever European car somewhere else if at all possible. This shop is dishonest and not to be trusted.

They found a more cost effective solution than ford would have and had it fixed in less than a week, for not much money. If you drive an EV and live anywhere in western Colorado along i70 this probably is your best mechanic to bring it to.

Mr. transmission, who did a free scan for me, and sent me their way from next door. Nick at the front desk said he could fit me in, which I greatly appreciated so we could potentially get home the same day. I thought we were in good hands considering they worked me in same day. Sadly that's where it went downhill. He didn't give me any sort of initial quote or disclaim there would be a "diagnostic labor charge". Since the guy next door did it no charge, I assumed it was the same with Alpine since this wasn't discussed. Additionally, he did say we probably needed to change the spark plugs, which I assumed wouldn't be too bad- you can get iridium NGK's for around $35 / 6, plus a little labor for the install. Daniel swapped a coil pack to rule that out as the potential issue, and said its most likely rocker arm- a 10 hour job - obviously we couldn't get that done but we'd be ok to drive home and get that fixed when we had more time. When we got the bill, we were horrified that it was nearly $700 for 6 spark plugs plus labor. Once I took a closer look at the bill at home, I noticed some shady and dishonest practices. The initial "estimate" I was never actually given was $145, which would've been reasonable for the scope of the work. However, while the car was there about 2.5 hours, I was charged for 3.8 hours of labor (I was double dipped obviously since Daniel is listed for both labor hours), which I'd call out Daniel wasn't actively working on the car the entire time (the car was sitting outside, and so were we). He also took it for a 30 min test drive around lunch- you can probably figure out what happened there. As soon as he would've drove it off the lot, you wouldn't need to get far to tell you the spark plugs wasn't the culprit. Also, we got charged for $36 worth of "shop supplies"- not sure what was "supplied" other than simply swapping spark plugs, which were sold to us way over retail price ($20 each). Lastly, looking at the invoice, on the back it states you wouldn't be charged more than 10% / $25 of the repair estimate unless determined additional repairs were necessarily. This tells me something went seriously wrong and there was a clear lack of communication. We had even brought in some doughnuts for the guys.. we felt completely taken advantage of. If we had been transparently quoted $680 up front, we would've certainly gone somewhere else. Worth mentioning, I emailed the owner going over the issues and discrepancies, and after a week, never got a reply. Not surprised! Also an update- we took it into the dealer, and they said Alpine misdiagnosed the issue. Instead of being a bad rocker arm ($2,100), it was a bad coil pack ($18). Seriously glad we got a second opinion, and I would strongly suggest going elsewhere to a more honest and reputable mechanic!

After 3 hours' repair, they claimed the problem is solved. After we drove out of the store, it was only good for 1.5 hours and it is overheated again, thanks to their magical hands. We were stuck in the middle of nowhere and was towed again. They charged 865 bucks: 202 for the parts and 600 for the labor cost ($150/hour): I just don't know where the extra $63 comes from. Ryan actually worked 3 hours on my car, and said it is a 4-hours work. He explained how good he is and was able to finish the 4-hour work in 3 hours, and gave me a funny example of his 12 year old brother would use longer time and charge even more if mechanics are paid by actual working hours. I was just amazed how well he can debate; I think he should run for the president because the two candidates both suck at it. Hey Ryan, I think your 12 year old brother would do that better than you. Next time I want your brother to fix the car for me. Please visit this space if you want your car broken on the road again, being overcharged, and joining some really funny debate.
