I've lived near this place my entire childhood and had never tried it. There was always mixed reviews from neighbor and friends that it never sparked my interest until i came home for a visit. The Yelp reviews were so great I gave it a try. I bought a dozen to bring home to the family thinking I was going to be the hero of the day. Disappointment.......none of the flavors were particularly mind blowing delicious or memorable. The only one I would even recommend trying is the french toast. Out of the 6 people who tried them not one of them finished their donut. The same conclusion, tasteless, dry, overwhelmingly hyped up donuts. 25 dollars for a dozen and they sit half eaten in the box 4 days later. Should have gone to Top Pot. read more

SOO so delicious. I am a cake donut lover so this is my heaven. The variety of flavors is kind of overwhelming...in a good way. Coffee is exceptional, too. They do run out, but they happy hour donut specials are awesome if they still have your favorite flavor (which should be ALL OF THEM). Customer service was so-so; agree with a few other reviews that even saying hello to customers would really help...or eye contact...or a smile--you really only have to choose one. read more

For Vegan donuts these are great; compared to regular donuts, they are pretty good. My favorite is their seasonal Pumpkin Spice. These are dense cake donuts but pretty flavorful. I've tried Mighty O donuts several times but never made it into the shop until last week. We went for the free donut giveaway to celebrate their Food Network competition win. This place already has hundreds of reviews so I'll make it brief: --The donuts were delicious and I swear you cannot tell they are vegan. Maybe they are a little more dense that your average donut, but I like cake donuts. The mini ones were tasty and fresh and reminded me of childhood summers at the MN State Fair. I was skeptical about the French toast one, but there's a reason it won the Food Network challenge. A unique taste and very yummy (and not eggy like actual French toast). -- What really struck me was the friendliness and cheeriness of the people behind the counter. If I spent all day giving away free donuts to a never ending throng of people I would probably not be in a good mood. But everyone we interacted with was beyond nice and that quite impressed me! -- It was cool to watch the mini donut making machine. I was just as mesmerized as the little kids. -- Mighty O also sells coffee and some T shirts. After trying the raised donuts I refuse, refuse, refuse to eat another one of their cake donuts. Full disclosure: I've stopped buying Mighty-O donuts at other coffee shops, because they're not as fresh. I recommend going to the Mighty-O shop itself. They specialize in cake donuts - dense and tender and not ridiculously sweet. Well, some of the non-standard donuts are hit and miss. I had a strawberry shortcake donut that was sickeningly sweet. But the standard glazed, chocolate top, cinnamon sugar, and plain donuts are consistently delicious. Also, I highly recommend the lemon poppyseed. Mighty-O is very affordable for Seattle. For anyone who, like me, has only tasted Might O doughnuts at street fairs or staff meetings, it's time to go to the source. Tangletown is serving up seasonal pumpkin and apple spice doughnuts and they're phenomenal. They're lighter than Top Pots blasts of sugar. Although special, Top Pot offers regular doughnuts compared to Might O's special flavorings. The pumpkin and apple spice tasted like cakey versions of their namesakes with a crispy glaze that was oh so satisfying. Eat them fresh, it's the only way to go. read more

Since I became vegan I hadn't had donuts until I came here. I used to love eating Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts and found it almost impossible to find a vegan option. These donuts are so delicious even to non-vegans (my sister and little nephews!). It's a nice small shop, with plenty of space to sit, they even have a cute little table for kids with books and toys. Not only are they splendidly moist and and dense, these cake doughnuts are also organic and vegan (which means cholesterol free). Flavors are creative and there are always one or two seasonal picks. French toast, lemon poppyseed, and chocolate raspberry are my top picks. Not only is Mighty-O great at what they do (and rare in what they do) they also give their "overbake" to local non-profits. 2.5 stars... I had a bite of Jonas' mint chocolate doughnut and thought it tasted awesome! We went in and there wasn't much to choose from... I opted for the french toast one because I've never seen that before. We didn't eat them right away because we were full so we ate them later on. When I took a bite of the Stella's plain one with chocolate covered, I wasn't a fan. I tried to eat it but I just couldn't. The french toast one was okay because the nuts and the flavoring hid the taste of the actual doughnut but I only took a bite just to try it and then I couldn't eat anymore. This branch of their tribe makes awesome cake donuts with many good and innovative flavors. i was happily surprised and the kids love them. Just think!! They might actually be good for you too. The donuts here... ugh. Everything is sickly sweet and cheap tasting. I can eat Krispy Kreme and not be as nauseated... the use of soy flour is apparent to me, as I have been baking over 25 years now and know when they gunk up something with soy biproducts, which are just... ewwwwww... I could tell biting in that I was not eating very high quality vegan treats... I've tried 4 kinds. All were really gross. I unknowingly also had one at a coffee shop near me and literally spit the first bite out and asked them if that's where they came from. I was right. I don't know why people are so in love with it unless it's the Crisco generation a few years younger than me that is enamored with them. I really wish they wouldn't use soy flour :( There ARE ways of creating dairy free vegan cakes and such without yucky soy flour (especially as they most likely use full fat soy flour)... I don't care about the fat content as I'm skinny as a rail, mind you... I care about the brutal impact of soy on most bodies. I care about them using something that is cheap quality, mostly indigestible (so it comes out in undigested bricks to be frank), genetically modified, full of nasty pesticides (Monsanto's taken over all but TWO sources of soy, and those are TINY sources, only 1 of the 2 having anything in the USA--and that one only making tofu, sausage, etc)... Basically, I don't want my body to be made of pesticides. I'd rather stick to making it myself with ACTUAL organic products. Soy never needed it, given that it's a poisonous plant, but they sprayed it down anyway... I just can't support a business that is so focused on using nothing derived from meat that they use something worse than most cattle (and I don't eat most cattle, keep that in mind, or much meat save fish)... I'll take eggs as my binder, not soy junk that I have to teach the hazards of all too regularly to my students. Woe is me and my education. One more place to not be tempted by. PS After checking their site, I'd LOVE to know who their supposed "organic soy" provider is. There's a teeny tiny one in Virginia (I've been there... I know how teeny tiny it is, and they keep their soy flour for themselves, or did as of a year ago)... the other "supposed" non-GMO soy grower in inland China, a place I don't want to support anyway... but all of Argentina and the rest of South America got so contaminated in the last 5 years that getting roundup ready soy was the only way to still be able to grow soy... same with the USA, Mexico, and nearly all of Asia... it's all GMO, it's ALL Monsanto... The corn and some of the soy crops also replicate, within the kernal/germ seed of the corn and the bean of the soy, the very pesticides on the outside of the bean. Since they seem to actually read these comments here and there, maybe they'll take the time to research their *real* supplier. Monsanto killed off the non-GMO supplies, even by smuggling IN the other into countries that had banned it. Sorry to be political, but if you're going here because you think vegan is the way to be... think twice. Soy production has killed off 80+% of the rainforest... and Kansas City's Agent Orange producer is gloating while their own guy is our new FDA ... advisor to the commissioner, Mike Taylor. There are ways to be vegan without using soy. Just know what you're ACTUALLY eating before you dive into every spot trying to make a "difference." Doesn't change that the donuts are so sweet my "enjoys vegetables without sugar added" palette can't stomach it... and the waxy film left behind doesn't help. read more

These cake donuts, topped with seasonal ingredients, are animal by-product-free, chemical preservatives-free, hydrogenated oil-free, coloring & artificial flavors-free and cholesterol-free. I personally think they are the best donuts I've ver had! I personally am not a vegan, but my sister is, and while I was visiting my sister in Seattle, we had a sudden sweets craving. Her husband learned at work that there is a great vegan and organic donut place so we decided to check it out. My sister and I had other plans, but her husband and my husband went off to get these donuts... and to my surprise, they were better than a lot of the non-vegan donuts!!!! They were so good that the next day, on our way back to Oregon, my sister asked us to get some as a gift to our family friend in Oregon. Mighty-o donuts is found in a very cozy area of Seattle, kinda reminded me of Portland. It's a small, not overly fancy, friendly store. When we arrived there was a long line, but they are very fast, so your turn comes real fast. The girl that helped me was very friendly and fast, the cashier girl was very friendly, and the barista was fast and friendly too. The cafe has a friendly atmosphere but not relaxing due to all the traffic. But the line and the chaos is worth it!! The donuts are heavy, dense, soft, not overly sweet and flavorful. Until this day most of my sweet experiences here in the US has been only sugar sweet and no actual flavor. So this is a huge huge finding for me. We got a dozen donuts as a gift for $18 and got 2 donuts with filling for ourselves. The filling donuts have real strawberry sauce in them, they taste real. The dough is very fluffy and the glaze on top of it is sweet enough to compliment the sourness of the strawberry filling. My favorite was just a regular donut with sugar glaze. It's very simple but the simplicity makes each component of the donut stand out and enjoyable. I am sure to return and the coffee here is really good too!! read more

I really do enjoy a good, fresh doughnut, which is why I've avoided Mighty-O for the past ten or so years that I've been living in or visiting Seattle. I knew I'd walk in, smell doughnuts, get something amazing, and forever crave them! My French toast doughnut was amazing! It was quite hard to choose which one to get. Yes, I only got one--this was also quite a struggle. I haven't come back yet [my taste buds say YES, but my hips say... whatever, I'll be back soon]. The people working here were friendly, the shop was clean, many people came in and left happy, and my niece got a lot of adoring glances. Mildly irrelevant side note: I work with children and hear a lot of unique names. However, visiting here with my niece provided me with my first experience of having someone tell me their child's name and me, confused, asking if they were talking about a dog. First off - love Mighty-O donuts. BUT - the whole point is being able to obtain said donuts. On two occasions over the past month, visited Ballard location. First time, on a Friday, when they open at 6 am. Arrive at 7, and no donuts. I repeat n o d o n u t s - one hour after opening. Second time, on a Saturday morning, arrive at 7:30, 30 minutes past opening, and yes, there are donuts. HOWEVER- the selection is spotty, just a few lonely donuts, a smattering. Upon returning home, it's clear donuts are d a y o l d d o n u t s. As a long time time customer who has just returned to the area after living away for a few years - you should know, these vegan gems have a very short shelf life - day old = no bueno. Returning to the area after being away, I was thrilled to see Mighy-O expanding into new areas. But expansion should mean replicating the original experience - in the case of the Ballard location, they're missing the mark. First world problem - but I'm so disappointed in my past 2 experiences. And extra disappointed that direct messages to the Mighty-O team via their web-site, and then FB, were ignored. read more
