Might and Main is a neighbourhood coffee shop located near Main Street and Gerrard. The coffee shop has a variety of caffeinated beverages, tea, as well as hot chocolate. They also have pastries and sandwiches I believe. I've walked by Might and Main many times but had not had the chance to try it until now as they are still open during the pandemic. I dropped by Might and Main on a Monday late in the morning. They currently have a takeout window set up where you have to walk down an alleyway. You order and receive your items through the window. There is plenty of signage so you know where to order your coffee. In terms of what I got, I ordered a flat white with oat milk. The employee asked for my preference to whether I wanted a traditional flat white or the beverage to be filled up to the top of the coffee cup (I opted for traditional). The coffee was great! Overall, great local neighbourhood cafe. They have a steady stream of customers wanting to support them. They also have reduced hours at the moment due to the pandemic. The hours posted on Yelp have been consistently wrong leading to several failed attempts and wasted drives. Boo. Maybe not the fault of the establishment? However, mind blowing coffee. I had espresso w nothing but an exquisite almond pastry and it was heaven. As a bonus we had lovely conversation with total strangers ( regulars I bet ) that made a quick caffeine stop a real pleasure in the midst of a hectic day. Strongly recommend! read more

Local neighbourhood cafe. Fits about 15 people inside across 2 small and 2 large tables. Internet tested at 15mb. 3 electrical outlets. I had breakfast sandwich and espresso. Espresso was good. So good, I downed my double Americano faster than Nicole Kidman reaches for her Botox syringe. I probably could've had another double except I enjoy sleeping. The space is inviting and the orange slices in the water pitchers are a nice touch. Too bad this cafe is so far from me and I wouldn't know how to get there without a chaperone. read more

This is a really nice, comfortable neighbourhood place that supports the arts. They have folk music on Sundays at 1 or 1:30 (sorry, memory fails) which is usually a single performer. For a buck, you can buy a download card with a song each from 4 recent performers. **edit - the music is intermittent and they dont have the download cards anymore.** My medium latte, in a "to stay" mug, was warm, tasty and big! If you like tuna like I like tuna STOP everything and run *scratch that* SPRINT to Grinder for their incredibly genius tuna sandwich. Soggy or stale bread is in my opinion a sandwich cardinal sin! So I was reluctant to try this tuna sandwich delicatessen, as it was pre-made and sitting in a cooler AKA soggy/stale bread maker. To my surprise the bread was uber fresh multi-grain which had been waterproofed (or soggy-proofed so to speak) by two pieces of lettuce which ensured the tuna filling stayed wedged inside the sandwich without moistening the bread. With me still?! ok the really awesome part is that the tuna filling (which contained the perfect amount of mayo and salt) also featured small slices of green apple. The result was a crunchy yet soft texture and a taste that was simply breathtaking. For $5 I was smitten. Apparently they also put capers in the egg salad sandwich so that will definitely be the next sammy I sample there. I also ordered a small latte which rivals most places' large and tasted great. I wish the space was a bit larger but it is very cozy and intimate. As previously mentioned, Sunday afternoons feature a live acoustic performance of local performers and if they are as good as today I plan to come here EVERY sunday! This is my neighborhood coffee joint. I'm here at least once a week. Their food is reliable, coffee served with a smile, and I love how involved they are with the neighborhood. Lots of families and bicyclists come here, and they always have some drive or another for a neighborhood cause (like the elementary school across the street, or collecting feminine hygiene products for the homeless). Their decor is also really clean and fresh. It's a great place to sit and work, or grab a coffee on your way. It's a small space though, so you may not be guaranteed a seat. And careful on Saturdays - they have live music (a single guitarist) around 11a, and it can get a bit loud inside. read more

Of all the places we went to for the coffee crawl, this was my least favourite. I found their house blend to be watery and lifeless. It was lacking body and soul. I hate to say it, but I have had better coffee at Tim Hortons. What I did like about this place is the cool art work and comfy couches. Very much a neighbourhood spot that I am sure will do well. Great little neighbourhood cafe within walking distance. They make a good cappuccino and love the live music on weekends. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because all the staff are wonderful and friendly except one and I won't go in if she's working. I've also seen on more than one occasion a customer go in without a mask (during Covid) which isn't the cafe's fault of course but I don't feel safe anymore. read more

The coffee is decent, and the snacks are alright. The staff is a little too hipster, so I'm guessing the variety of reviews on the staff is a little to do with how hipster you (as the customer) are. The seating is not bad, but it's a good thing this isn't in a real high-traffic location, otherwise it would be tough to get a comfortable seat with someone else if you're looking for a chat or date. read more

I really want to like this place, I'm always looking for a coffee shop and this one is close to where I live. But every time I've been there my experience has been really disappointing. First of all, I don't like their coffee very much. But I guess that is a matter of taste. But more importantly, the staff is just not very professional. Last time I was there, I ordered a cappuccino, but after several minutes of trying the barista gave up and said the machine is broken and I should come back in 20 minutes. read more

Came here for the first time yesterday. Usually a Tim Horton's guy. I ordered a coffee, and when I learned it was fair trade coffee, I was sold. The worker who made it genuinely looked happy to serve me. I will for sure be making this place my coffee place! Great service, love the fung shuei of the establishment. I went there yesterday to have my phot taken by a nearby pro photographer. She liked it because it was cool and friendly with nice wood tones. I loved the coffee and the relaxed neighborhood-friuendly feel and the confort level they had with someone doing a "shoot" in the shop. Then today, I read they offer their kitchen to help a group serving lunch to kids at the school across the road. How can you beat neighborhood coffee shops like that? --wayne roberts read more

Love this little coffee shop! its in my neighborhood and has a great mellow feel - very cute decor and friendly staff. yummy treats and drinks, great choices to choose from and fresh daily goodies! Iv'e even been short once (on total) and they just waved it in good humor. The only reason i've brought it down to a 4 star is because i'm not a fan of their hours, they close at 4pm on the weekends. I'm usually only around during the weekends to enjoy a coffee and by the time i roll around for a second drink or a walk they're closing up. Wish they were always open! (totally unfair of me - i know haha) all around, worth a visit! read more

Great service and pretty decent coffee. I usually go for an Americans though, as it's much better than their drip coffee. Baked goods are usually good too. One time they made this mango chocolate chip muffin and it sounds weird, but it could've just been that it was fresh out of the oven, but it was one of the best muffins I've ever had. read more

Used to love this place, but have been disappointed with the quality in recent times. Coffee isn't as good as it used to be, and my surprisingly expensive tea was served with loose tea leaves all throughout the drink. A very basic and disappointing mistake. James and Trish (the owners) have set out to create a neighbourhood destination and in my opinion they have done it right. I'm there every day at least once (sometimes several times) and generally see a lot of the same faces, either stopping in on their way to work or actually working on-site. Great coffee and pretty consistent, although James is still the best barista there. Espresso-based drinks are IMHO the best in town and the coffee on press is damn fine too. Has steadily gone downhill since it changed ownership from Mercury to Grinder to g. It's clear the new staff has received very little training. The foam on the caps and lattes is sub-standard. Bring back Mercury!!! read more

Not a fan, I thought that I would try this place out for coffee as I always prefer to support independent shops over TH and Starbucks.... I tried twice and was extremely disappointed, first time I had there house brew coffee which was watery and disgusting the second time was over a year later and I ordered an Americano which I would go as far as to say it was the worst Americano I have ever had.
