I was so impressed with their service that I recently recommended them to my son. This was our experience nine years ago; After a rough winter of ice dams, we received three estimates from three different companies to solve our insulation issues. Of the three, Midwest Insulation was the only one that went through the entire house and found under-insulated areas that contributed to the ice dams on the roof. The owner, Artie, who came to give the estimate, was previously a contractor and I do think that made a difference in his approach to finding and fixing the air/heat leaks in our house. The workers that came to do the insulating were courteous and they were conscientious about taping areas of the house off to protect the furniture and flooring. Oh, and the price was very competitive, even though Midwest insulated more than just the attic space of the other two proposals. We are very happy with our decision to go with Midwest Insulation. Getting ahold of anyone is a nightmare. No one answers the phone in a timely manner and heaven forbid they should return your call, or calls in my case because, again, no one likes to answer the phone. Not sure how they stay in business with such poor customer service. Their estimates are great but they just aren't interested in doing any work. Owner came out, climbed up in my attic, went all through it, and came down and we discussed it. He gave me a very detailed quote as a series of options and I picked the ones I wanted. They called and rescheduled my job as they were having trouble and fell behind during the extreme cold spell we had in mid-February (well below zero with stiff winds). They came out as rescheduled and on time. The whole crew was very nice and polite, got my big job done in 1 day. I had old nasty batts of insulation removed, cleaned up rafters and attic's floor then blew in 18 inches of cellulose. We have noticed a significant difference in the warmth of our house now - we can turn off furnace for several hours now (doing construction in 2 rooms) and the temperature just goes down a degree or 2 instead of 5-8 degrees! Ceiling cavity foam: The owner did not do his due diligence to check what was already in areas of the ceilings of the second-floor bedrooms. I told him I thought they were empty. The crew drilled 10-12 holes in each space in each bedroom. There was a minimal amount of foam injected because there was old cotton-based insulation already in the spaces. They checked the areas through the main part of the attic to see if they were assessable. If they were open and assessable through the main part of attic the areas cellulose could have been blown in. The guy running the crew said the areas were closed off. I checked after they finished - the areas were open to the attic. I believe they knew that not enough foam was going in, however, they kept on going. Since, the company never asked for the other half of the fee, I assume they knew they screwed up. Garage walls - not all of the cavities were filled with cellulous (this was a simple job) - very random. Some were half full; some were not compacted enough. Some did not have enough cellulose at the top. After I thought the job was not completed properly, I drilled holes to inspect. The icing on the cake is that the owner never returned to check if the work was done properly. Either dishonest or incompetent! read more

I requested a quote on insulation project at my house. I was very impressed that the individual / owner did arrive at my home on time. I was told that I should receive the quote within a couple days. It is now almost a month later and after several calls I still do not have a quote. I had nothing bad to say about there workmanship because I guess I was never meant to see it. I have learned my Lesson! read more

Midwest Insulation did not evaluate the structural integrity of the ceiling before adding approximately 16 inches of cellulose insulation to our attic. As a result, our ceilings collapsed under the weight. The collapse occurred in our son's bedroom while he was asleep. I called the owner of Midwest to discuss the situation and request immediate removal of the insulation so that the ceilings could be repaired properly. My phone call with the owner lasted approximately three minutes; during that short time, the owner yelled at me, denied any responsibility, blamed me for buying a bad house and not knowing about the structure of the house, and accused me of wanting him to fix the problem for free. I am a teacher and have no experience working with construction. When we bought the house two and a half years ago, our inspector did not notify me of any issues pertaining to the ceiling. I had not requested a free removal of the insulation. I had informed him of the problem and asked him if he would come out to evaluate the situation with the hopes of working with him to fix the problem. I would NEVER recommend this company based upon my conversation with the owner and his complete lack of willingness to help me fix the problem directly and unequivocally caused by the actions of his company. read more
