We came here for a day party. The energy was great. Good crowd of people and the atmosphere was lively. The tickets were $25 per person to get in. You could get them from Eventbrite. I guess that paid for the DJ because nothing came with the ticket. You had to pay extra to reserve a table and practically every table was reserved. We found the last one that was available. Most of the outdoor seating was for cigar smoking. We noticed after sitting down that there were no servers assigned to us. We had to go to the bar to place our orders. We had to ask for everything....water refills, condiments, napkins and the food was barely mediocre. The eggrolls tasted like they were fried in lard. They left a thick greasy film in your mouth after eating them. The pizza was mostly dough and cheese with a very thin layer of sauce. The staff were nice but they seemed to be understaffed and overworked. Inventory seemed low too. I saw one of the girls make a Target run to get orange juice for the bartender. Run from this disaster of a tavern. From the couldn't care less attitudes to the messy bathrooms, lack of knowledge about simple things (like what's the daily special again?), and paltry inventory (they only had three bottles of wine in the entire bar!), they succeeded at having our party of five up and outta there before we did something stupid like order food. It is obvious this place is running on fumes while plying a few unsavory regulars at the bar until it closes. Has my "Give 'em a Whirl" meter laying a patch of rubber when we left the parking lot. Came for the Drag Brunch for a bday party and had a ball!! The food was great, they give you a lot of French Toast! It was very good. There were four different performers and they did a great job, we had a good time. The main performer said they switch themes every time so I will have to look into the future shows. Terrible place to choose for dinner. We arrived after a lacrosse tournament hungry. The place looked sleepy, but wow was it a disaster. 2 people servicing the dining room. TVs all on the same channel (hockey), and an attitude from staff when we asked to change a few tv's to baseball. Waitress tried to memorize order only to arrive back at the table later for a repeat. Icing on the cake was wrong food on first staggered, late return from the kitchen, and second attempt was 3 out of the 7 ingredients listed on the menu item. Just a restaurant in decline with a staff lacking communication skills, and a kitchen without necessary ingredients to fulfill their menu. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Went to this place for their $5 appetizers and drinks. Well what can I say besides this: They did not have any of the appetizers we ordered. I had a watermelon mint martini which was not great or good by any means! I can't tell you if any of the food was good because there was none to try. Each thing we tried to order or drink wasn't available so it was a huge letdown! I will say that the server was great! She was truly awesome. It was pretty much dead in there as well. This was last night y'all, a Friday night where everyone is looking for a great deal for those late nights when you wanna just chill and enjoy a certain vibe. Pulled up on a Tuesday afternoon for a quick bite with my two toddlers after a trip to the doctor's office. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. They currently offer a "kids eat free" special on Tuesdays (one child per adult) which was a lovely surprise however, the restaurant itself isn't very child friendly... no booster seats (just high chairs), no changing table in the restroom and no cups with lids (server said they usually do but were out). Food came out hot and quick and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the kids meals as the nuggets looked house made with real chicken breast. The Chicken Loaded Nachos were stacked high but ultimately the plating choice didn't allow for an even distribution of toppings so most of the chips went to waste. Consider switching to a flat platter and I think these are a great value! I recently found myself shopping in the Midtown area on a rainy weekend afternoon and I needed to stop for a quick bite and a beer. I had heard about this place and was curious to try it, so I pulled in and grabbed myself a seat at the bar. The Midtown neighborhood is mostly dominated by retail shopping, so I like the idea of a neighborhood tavern for the local populace. The place definitely has good bones too, so I was eager to see what awaited inside. Inside well.... it felt a little sterile. When I think of a neighborhood tavern I think of lots of wall decorations, sports memorabilia, homages to the neighborhood itself. Here the walls were pretty bare, the decor was kind of an industrial chic that a lot of Charlotte places are doing these days. Nothing really stands out or catches the eye. There weren't a lot of customers there but the music was kind of loud and playing hip hop so it didn't really fit the mood. Overall I wasn't sure what the vibe was supposed to be, it seemed like they were going for a high end lounge type vibe. The service was good no complaints there, the food seemed like standard bar food and the wrap I ordered was fine, the tots were a nice plus. While there isn't anything inherently wrong with this place it just seems to lack a real identity and there isn't a lot that would draw me back unless I happened to be in the area. This place seriously needs a "Bar Rescue"-level overhaul. Several menu items were unavailable, and my order came out incomplete. When I asked about the missing items, the response from staff was confusion and was ultimately given the wrong items. It gives the impression that basic inventory and order accuracy aren't priorities, even while charging full price. I travel about 80% of the month and eat out frequently, and this was easily one of the most disappointing experiences I've had in years - a combination of poor management and clear incompetence. read more

I think you speed past the building on 3rd Street in heavy traffic times and don't see it. It's worth the stop. We sat on the patio and it was a really nice view of the restaurant and a great location. They do have inside booth seating but it's a nice place for lunch or brunch. I ordered a pizza from here off DoorDash! The pizza came cold and not like warm! NO! Cold as if the pizza had been sitting out and was just put in a box when I ordered! The pizza is dry and barely has any cheese! When I called to speak to a manager Jerome got on the phone and had the audacity to blame the DoorDash driver. This pizza doesn't even look like any of the pics the restaurant or other DoorDash customers posted! This is a nice restaurant, and I share a parking lot with Walgreens. There's limited parking. Upon entering I was greeted, I had a reservation on OpenTable, and they were able to seat me as soon as I entered. I came on a Saturday night. It wasn't too crowded. The waiter was very attentive, and the decor was pretty laid-back bar style. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer. They were very tasty. I ordered the salmon wrap for dinner. I wish the salmon was chopped up and not one large piece wrapped up, but it was OK for flavor not my favorite. I was able to try the salmon salad which was good and the fish tacos were tasty. The food is actually pretty good! I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't just bar food and it took about 15 minutes for our food to arrive at the table. Our server was attentive and friendly. Oh wow my eyes must be deceiving me. I went here before prom with my late ahh friends. We had a whopping 12 person reservation, only 10 showed up, and 6 of them were 20 minutes late. I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience. Our waitress was so nice it inspired me to smile for the first time in years. Those loaded nachos that I paid for absolutely changed my life as well. I spilled them everywhere, but the only stain it left was on my heart. That chicken Alfredo made me almost do some unholy things. Me and my buddy Mattyice were feining over it all day, waiting for the chance to get a bite. The only slight complaint I have is that the TV almost debilitated me from the amount of sadness pouring out of the scream. R.I.P. EJ, R.I.P. that police dog, and R.I.P. that helicopter crash. You even lured me in with false hope, after saying that a railroad worker saved a man from the tracks, only to then have the rug pulled and be told that he was laid off for his heroic actions. I'm giving 5 stars but I came for a drag brunch and didn't really get to see or try things off of their main menu, but the breakfast sandwich and home fries I got were delicious! The drag brunch was Buff Faye, which I highly, highly recommend. One of the best drag brunches I've been to. Almost a mix of comedy, dancing and drag with great performers. Midtown Tavern was a perfect venue for the drag brunch. I appreciate them hosting and fostering an environment of inclusivity in Charlotte! Our wait staff was great and they kept out drinks full, despite all of the distractions. Our waiter actually got called to perform for charity and he took it in stride, with his manager giving him the go-ahead. Love that!! read more

Midtown Tavern is a bar that doesn't know what it wants to be. There are lots of TV's with sports but the night we went, the sound was random music instead of the game everyone was watching and cheering for. The food is mediocre and unbelievably expensive for what it is. We dropped $70 including tip on two burgers, two apps and waters. The burgers were good but not $17 good, the tots were unsalted and came out warm - not hot. The service was atrociously bad. Our friendly server took our order and then promptly abandoned us. The bartender brought over our food and refilled the waters. We had to ask the hostess to find the waitress so we could pay to leave well after we were done eating. The sad thing is that this place has so much potential! It's located right near the hospital, has free parking, has two bars inside and even a covered patio. Yet, on a night when other bars were packed, this place had seating and now we know why. This was my second time visiting and I can't see there being another. read more

Had the Sugar creek the Big O ipa which was excellent. Had the Bull burger: Angus burger on a brioche bun with cheese, bacon and topped with a over easy fried egg and tater tots. I was happy to finally try Midtown Tavern yesterday as I pass it multiple times a week on my commute into Uptown. Service was great and our server was very attentive. I also appreciate that they have a scratch kitchen. The only thing not made in-house are the pickle spears. It was great to see that their taking COVID-19 precautions and have seating spaced out. Guests can eat inside, under a covered outdoor patio or on their open terrace, weather permitting. We ordered the Avocado Spring Rolls and Lobster Tater Tots to start. Both were exceptional. We sprinkled ours with the crushed red peppers and parmesan cheese meant for the pepperoni wood-fired pizza my friend ordered and it kicked it up a notch. The lobster tater tots are delectable and, by far, my favorite app so far! For my entree, I got The Ultimate Chicken sandwich. Which was good. I wish the battered was seasoned a bit more and that I had the option of switching my "cheese blend" slice with something like pepper jack. That would be phenomenal. But I do love the onion rings that go on the sandwich (the batter does need a bit of seasoning too). Drinking? The Tavern has a full bar. The Moscow Mule is a solid choice, but so is the strawberrierta Overall, I think Midtown Tavern is a solid place to grab lunch or drinks after work with friends. I'd give them another try. read more

You MUST get the Asian Fried Cauliflower. We got two orders. Definitely too much for 3 people but I was thankful that I got to take some home for the next day. Love the Buffalo Chicken Tacos. They have many Buffalo Chicken options so it was hard to choose but glad I chose these. They were filling but didn't seem too unhealthy. The Impossible Burger had good flavor. We switched out the vegan cheese for regular - whoops. Will definitely be going back. Good neighborhood go-to spot. I had a dang near perfect experience at this place. First of all--we walked right in with no wait on a Saturday at 5 (very rare in uptown Charlotte). It was clean and great ambiance with a big indoor and outdoor area. The server was very nice. The drinks were standard tavern drinks although they did have a huge selection of specialty drinks and shot options. The food---ahh the food--amazing! Tons of options and healthy options too which always excites me to see at a sports bar type setting. The cauliflower mash was incredible!! Way better than mashed potatoes and so flavorful. I was introduced to this spot through a friend of mine and I actually like this spot. I've checked out this spot several times now and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, all the TV's and the large comfortable barstools they have. On this day I ordered the buffalo chicken tacos which was freaking awesome and the bartenders are pretty good. After coming here just a few times several of the bartenders remembered drink of preference and really didn't have to remind them is what a patron really likes. Service was pretty inattentive as they seemed to be more focused on laughing and joking with each other than actually giving me much in the way of service. No real food or drink recommendations offered when I asked about a few things, and little to no interaction or follow up other than setting my food down in front of me. Food was average at best (basic fish sandwich and fries) with an overly sauced bun that overwhelmed the fish to the point where I couldn't even taste it. Server said they are more of a club/bar vibe on Saturdays with hookah and music over speakers, rather than a sports bar focused on football, so can't guarantee sound for games, especially prime time games. Two of the six TVs had people's court on which was pretty random. Will have to rule that this place is guilty of ambivalence as it felt like I was interfering with the employees' social hour, so definitely not a place I would be interested in returning to anytime soon. read more
