Sure, the aisles are only wide enough for one person to walk through straight on, but that's a small concession for what's on offer here. Their produce section is surprisingly extensive, there's even a seafood section, and it looks like they've finally revamped the hot food next to the front entrance. The staff at checkout here are always quick and efficient, and I'm grateful they're such a decent Asian supermarket in the Capital District to complement the wonderful Kim's and Jang Tuh. They have their own parking lot and we have come close to not finding a parking space here, but there's a constant flow of people coming and going, so we've never actually not found parking.

The owner introduced himself in like and stated if there is anything that I needed but couldn't find, they would do their best to offer it in the future. The store isn't the most organized but it's only because they carry so many different items that you'll be hard-pressed to not find what you need. From groceries, paper products, cleaning supplies, and health and beauty supplies. You'll find lots of natural products which fits the shop's name. Support local businesses! Support this store!

I have visited Farmer's Indian Market twice, and walked out both times without buying anything. I'm…read morean adventurous shopper so this is unusual for me. The prices for produce are high and the organization of the aisles baffles me. This time I had a plan: a short list of specific needs from the Asian Market on Central which I hoped I could find here instead. But daikon was too expensive, a tub of peeled garlic was not in sight and I did not have the patience to search for wheat starch or Pantai brand fish sauce. All that said, it's still a four star experience. First for the experience of seeing many Muslim families shopping together on a Friday, and particularly the happy customers waiting at the busy halal butcher when their orders are delivered. Second for the depth of product which challenges the casual shopper but lets me know this would be a good source for a very specific product, like an obscure fruit or vegetable or one of the dozens of middle eastern flatbreads on offer. The labneh section alone deserves an award for brand diversity. Like it or not, I know I'll be back and am glad we have Farmer's Indian Market in our community.

Seriously, once you go wholesale, it's impossible to return to the world of retail shopping. Granted, some items come in wholesale quantities. For example if you want some pork belly, you have to buy an entire eight pound pork belly. But theirs isn't any pork belly, it's Berkshire pork, which is a prized heritage breed. I went in for a pack of fresh grass-fed skirt steak, which at the time was less than $6 a pound, and came in convenient two pound packages. However they were out of stock so I left with a pork belly (and a bunch of other delicious stuff). If you go, bring a jacket. You'll want to spend some time in their walk in refrigerator, and you may want to spend time in their walk in freezer (that's were all the farm-raised game lives). Also bring a sense of adventure. None of the prices are marked, but the staff is incredibly friendly and loves talking about food. They are incredibly knowledgeable, and will gladly look up prices for you. Since my initial discovery of the place, I've now started an account. So I can show up without any money and they'll just bill my card. And that's pretty dangerous. Because it's really inexpensive for what it is. But when you are confronted with duck and foie gras sausages, tubs of duck fat, cured Ibierco loin, Old Chatham Sheepherding Company cheeses, bottles of extra virgin olive oil, caviar, and cured salami made from happy pigs, it requires a lot of willpower to leave the caviar behind. Adventures in Food Trading sells mainly to the restaurant trade, but Jordan in the warehouse is super friendly, will show you around, and is happy to sell to you in small quantities. Prices are fair, not inflated, and you don't pay shipping as from some web gourmet shop. This place is REALLY hard to find, in an industrial park just before the bridge over the Hudson to Troy. Look for the Midlands dairy facility, enter at the public road south of the facility, then proceed past Ace Hardware and Midlands and turn right on a private road. From there, wander around until you find it. If it's a hot day, be sure to bring a cooler, but Jordan will be happy to throw in a cold pack. Open Monday-Friday only, from 8 am till 4 or a bit later.

I'm surprised I am the first to review this place, but maybe I shouldn't be. We came on a late…read moreweekday evening (7PM) which turned out to be their one-month anniversary, and found it was completely deserted. This is a huge building that once housed the "Kosher Price Chopper" (which moved down the street). We passed several Asian and one large Indian specialty supermarkets on the drive over and I don't know if the area really needed another store this large. Time will tell. Upon walking into the large former produce area, we found gobs of empty space and a small selection of produce that didn't wow us. I suspect they have slower turnover then larger stores, and as a result much of the fruits and vegetables looked tired. They did have a nice selection of hot peppers. Also, upon entering I saw several signs advertising their pizza (!) and suggesting we order it while we do your shopping and then take it home to eat. I was certainly hopping that there would be some nice hot prepared food at this supermarket but I was not expecting pizza. If there were other options I didn't see them. There were two employees working in the pizza area, and I saw no other ones at all until we checked out. Moving to the back, all of their freezer and cooler sections appeared to be on although most were empty. Their meat section contained a giant liver, a huge leg of something (goat or lamb?) and little else. Maybe by 7PM it is all sold out, or perhaps it isn't a big part of their business. It seems odd to power up lots of empty coolers. We went up and down their grocery aisles and picked a bunch of things to try (pasta, prepared sauces, cookies, frozen samosas, naan, etc.) and in the process were completely perplexed. It seemed like the same items were on multiple shelves, with only the brand names being different. For example, we found Samosas in three different aisles. Are they sorted by religious distinction (Halal maybe), by brand name, or by ingredients? We don't know, and there were no staff to ask. Their ice cream selection looked pretty cool (see what I did there) and if it were hotter outside we would have bought some. The bakery section didn't have much in the way of specialty international baked goods, and for the restaurant section we were later told it is sometimes open if the owner shows up. In all, it was a very awkward shopping experience. We had lots of questions about products but no one was there to help us. The entire store could be condensed into about a third of the space which would make shopping quicker and easier. Instead, it felt like walking into an abandoned business. It was also colder than I would have liked, but I can't fault them for not turning the heat up for literally one set of customers. Will I be back? Maybe, but I need to give them time to grow. Until then, there is another international supermarket on the same street just a little bit east which I like a lot better.
