Hannaford - Hannaford Brunswick NY. New, very nice store; very clean, spacious, and well kept.

I consistently find that the chicken at this store can have a putrid odor to it. I go to other…read moreHannaford locations in the area and the meats are fine, but this one disappoints me frequently. I think I'll stick to North Troy or Latham from now on, but it stinks because this area is a food desert already.

Hannaford opened in Brunswick a couple weeks ago, just off Hoosick Road and Lord Avenue. That land…read morewhich the site sits on was a big farm field for many many years. This 49K SF supermarket seems smaller than what I'm used to shopping at, but not the smallest Hannaford I've been to. The Clynk Bottle + Can Redemption shed/machines is outside at the far end of the parking lot. This Hannaford has 17 aisles including the standard grocery store items, frozen foods, dairy sections, organic foods, fresh produce, meats, small bakery (no self serve muffins, donuts?), fresh seafood, deli counter, cheeses, hot foods bar ($9.99/lb), sushi, made to order stir fry station, sandwiches, hot pizza, fresh salads, chicken, and grab & go sandwiches and heat and serve foods. The prices here seem fair or better compared to Market 32 and Shop Rite, though I've seen consistently lower prices at my local Market Basket (MA, NH, ME). I stopped in here and headed to the back right corner of the store for a slice of pizza and made to order stir fry (some newer Hannaford stores in ME and NH offer this too). I picked out a slice of Buffalo Chicken Pizza ($2.49 plus tax) and Shrimp Stir Fry ($9.99 plus tax) which I use the self serve stir fry bar to pick out my ingredients including noodles, rice, veggies, tofu and give the ingredients to the grill cook and they add any meats and sauces to be freshly cooked in front of you. My stir fry took about 5 minutes to be hot and ready and boxed. I paid for my food up at the front register and I enjoyed my food outside on my vehicle. I did not spot an indoor seating area here, which I've seen at other bigger supermarkets. The shrimp stir fry was delicious and tasted fresh . The pizza was decent which had the right amount of toppings including breaded chicken pieces, Bleu cheese crumbles and buffalo sauce on a thin chewy crust. As always, Hannaford is still one of my go to stores for quick grocery shopping, ready to eat foods and fresh produce. Also, the new traffic signal with GridSmart camera detection at Hoosick Rd & Lord Ave intersection is operational and helps with vehicles entering and exiting Hannaford to/from busy Hoosick Rd. It can be very difficult to turn left or right onto Hoosick Rd without a traffic signal.

Yes, it's only taken us about 5 years to make it, but we finally got to see what the fuss was all…read moreabout! Of course, by early November the outdoor market has moved indoors and we have little idea what the waterfront outdoor market looks like, but I've gotta say I'm impressed. I'm impressed with the organisation of the so many vendors in different corners of the two-floor space, and the variety and quality of the goodies available. Pretty much all cooked foods were upstairs with tables and chairs dotted amongst vendors, and the offerings ranged from West African and Caribbean American to dumplings, crepes, and empanadas. There was a "makers" room with clothing, jewlery, pottery, and other knickknacks, and produce, Belgian sugar waffles, and dried flower arrangements lined the middle section of the ground level. Probably the biggest room was in the back corner across from the 'booze' section, and this is where we see the dairy, dips, honey, peanut butter, gourds, pickles, and lots of baked goods, some of which we couldn't resist. We ended up with a small haul from Golden Blend Bakehouse, Our Daily Bread, and The Placid Baker. I'm be sure to follow up on how the baked goods go but the farmers market was impressive and I'm glad this has become a real landmark in the Capital Region. Parking is available among the street (mostly metred) and near the waterfront. We'll be back.

They have so many options for organic veggies and our very favorite farmer, Happenchance Farm. It's definitely the best market around with a wide variety of fresh foods including Jamaican, Mexican, Greek, American, sweet, savory, breakfast, lunch, you name it! There are homemade bag vendors, and jewelry vendors, and spirit vendors, and honey vendors, and coffee vendors, and cheese vendors, and grass-fed meat vendors! The list goes on! So many great choices! Spend an hour or spend 4 hours! You won't be disappointed.
