Couldn't find half of what I wanted! That is why I prefer Price Chopper! Will only come to this store if absolutely necessary

Low stock levels and frequently out of items. Most staff is pretty nice and helpful. More competitive pricing of late.

Trader Joe's is stepping it up these days especially if you love fresh produce. Much of it is…read moreseasonal. Some of it can be hard to find locally. A few weeks ago, I was surprised to find they were selling fresh lychees. I was skeptical. Lychees for sale and I'm not in Chinatown? They weren't quite ripe yet. I bought one carton. In hindsight, I should have bought at least two. Previously, I've only purchased lychees in any of NYC's Chinatowns and they were usually perfectly ripe or slightly past due. So I gave these new lychees a few days. They ripened and they were delicious. A week later the lychees were all gone but fresh figs were for sale. I haven't eaten figs in years so I snapped some up. There were some super ripe ones in the carton which I ate right away. Others are still ripening so I can enjoy them over time. When I went back a week later, the supply at the store has sold out. The small yellow watermelons were great, too. Now, there are varieties of Rainier or Queen Anne cherries available. They're almost always pricey no matter where you buy them. Trader Joe's gives you a choice. The larger variety costs a dollar more. I went for the smaller ones which were wonderful. I saved a dollar and since they're very ripe I'm going to turn some of them into jam. As always, the staff is friendly and very helpful. It's clean, inviting and well stocked. Thanks so much for making this summer more enjoyable and healthy with awesome varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables.

This store is unaffectionately referred to as "Christ Chopper." This PC was built on the grounds…read moreof St. Patrick's, a beautiful and grand church that opened in 1891. I'm not religious, but It was very sad to see this historical building that was built by working class Irish immigrants (much like my own great-grandfather who came from Ireland in the 1880s) demolished. We aren't from Watervliet, but my parents would sometimes attend this church. To be fair, this church building did need a lot of expensive repair work done and I don't think the diocese could afford it. I always liked driving through 'vliet and seeing this majestic building that looked like something you might see in NYC. I'm sad to see a Price Chopper in it's place. As you can imagine, there was some controversy over this church being torn down and this store being built. To be honest, the old PC in this neighborhood was in very rough shape and kind of gross. I would very rarely stop there. This store is better, but still a little dirty. I'm surprised to see how worn this place looks since it is very new. This PC doesn't have a dedicated florist like the stores in more affluent neighborhoods like Latham or Clifton Park stores, but they did have some fresh looking pre-arranged bouquets. In the front corner of the store there is a dedicated snack and beer area. They have the make your own 6 pack of craft beers available, but the selection was much more limited compared to the Latham store. Prices are a bit on the high side, someone has to pay for all of the renovations of the stores in this chain. The produce section at this store does seem to be an improvement over the former store. Just kind of a meh experience.

In addition to outlandish prices, the store can't even make what is advertised. I'd give it zero stars if that was possible.

Of course, by early November the outdoor market has moved indoors and we have little idea what the waterfront outdoor market looks like, but I've gotta say I'm impressed. I'm impressed with the organisation of the so many vendors in different corners of the two-floor space, and the variety and quality of the goodies available. Pretty much all cooked foods were upstairs with tables and chairs dotted amongst vendors, and the offerings ranged from West African and Caribbean American to dumplings, crepes, and empanadas. There was a "makers" room with clothing, jewlery, pottery, and other knickknacks, and produce, Belgian sugar waffles, and dried flower arrangements lined the middle section of the ground level. Probably the biggest room was in the back corner across from the 'booze' section, and this is where we see the dairy, dips, honey, peanut butter, gourds, pickles, and lots of baked goods, some of which we couldn't resist. We ended up with a small haul from Golden Blend Bakehouse, Our Daily Bread, and The Placid Baker. I'm be sure to follow up on how the baked goods go but the farmers market was impressive and I'm glad this has become a real landmark in the Capital Region. Parking is available among the street (mostly metred) and near the waterfront. We'll be back.
