BEWARE!!!! WOOD STOVE ENTHUSIASTS…read more.. After a long search in my area for an installer of a wood burning stove (purchased from a well known company) I found Hancock Chimney Service. All of the other companies would not install due to the fact the stove was not purchased from them.. Hancock would. Hancock Chimney charged $99 off the bat to come take a look, then they would send a quote. If I ok-ed this, the $99 would be taken off the total, otherwise you were out of luck - basically locked in. I was quoted $6,000. High end from my research. With obviously wanting the stove, I agreed to have them install. End of October 2022 was set for installation. They had called for the stove manual to be sent before installation, so it was HAND DELIVERED to them. Installation date was approaching and after many attempts to reach the installer to go over what I needed and when to expect the installer, I finally received a call TWO days beforehand. The installer ASSURED the 2 pieces I did not have (hearth & stove board) would not hold up the job. Morning of installation came and the two installers spent half the day measuring where to place the stove and looking in boxes of parts. They informed me that unforeseen parts were needed (couple elbows & straps). They were going to pick them up and return the next morning business as usual and get this thing installed!!! The office called the next morning.... $1,700 ADDITIONAL CHARGE, for the few pieces. That was the end of this disaster. Classic bait and switch.... To make this even more of a scam, they sent an invoice for $1,400??? WTF Having worked hard for a living, I understand paying the two workers for their time. But that is just unreasonable for what "labor" they did do (approx. 6 hours). They really expected me to pay a total of $1,499 for an incomplete job and a run-around. UNPROFESSIONAL! Shady company. Look elsewhere. Van I. Rockford, MI

Highly recommend Hancock Chimney Service.

I called Bloomquist Chimney for a sweep and inspection. The owner answered the phone and was able…read moreto come right out that day. He looked at the chimney and said it didn't need to be swept, which I thought was weird since we have wood fires at least a couple times a week during the winter. He did not even bring in a vacuum with him in case the chimney did need sweeping. He inspected my chimneys and went up on the roof. He came down and talked for a half an hour about all the issues my chimneys have, even with thousands of dollars of work that I had done the prior year. So I asked for an email with all the issues and his estimate to fix them. No email, no phone call, no nothing. When you call the phone number, it says the voice mail is full. So, I paid $100 for someone to then just disappear. I followed up with a separate chimney company, who did sweep the chimney and looked at everything and said the repairs done (by another chimney company) were done just fine. Spend your money somewhere else than Bloomquist.

BIG MISTAKE!!!! Do NOT, I repeat---DO NOT CALL THEM!!!! One of our chimney caps came loose in strong winds. Workers came Tuesday to fix it-we thought. No!!! Instead we were charged $189.00 to have them run a camera up the shoot! Took no more than FIVE minutes. THEN we were given another quote of $1,523.00 to get up there and twist cap back into place!!!!!!!!! $1,523.00!!!!!!! We called the owner back and asked why they didn't fix the cap that day for the $250.00 quote he gave us?!!!! And I asked him why they charged us $189.00 for a 3-minute camera look. He -the OWNER-said he had no idea and that he would look at our file and get back to me!!!!!! Well----an ENTIRE MONTH later and we are still waiting!!!! We are out the ridiculous charge of 189.00 and our cap still isn't fixed!!!!!! Pathetic. We blame ourselves for not adhering to the negative comments. Don't make the same mistake!!!!
