I have been coming to MidState since I moved to Ocala. I have been going to dermatologists for the majority of my life, mostly for annual skin checks. I had to find a lot of specialists on my own when we moved to Ocala because I was not familiar with the area and I did not know anyone to provide recommendations. I originally made my first appointment at the Jasmine Park location due to availability. I started coming to Deerwood because it is closest to my house and at the time, they provided Dermaplaning services. I have been coming to see Lacy monthly for Dermaplaning for over a year and I adore her. Initially, I had my first Dermaplaning service with someone else (maybe Brenda?) but I am so glad she was no longer available and I somehow wound up with Lacy. Lacy has paid attention to details on my skin during our visits and also gives me accurate treatment care for in between services. I have come once for my annual skin check here in 2023 and saw Brooklyn. She was great and answered any questions I had, as well as giving me recommendations. I am coming up on my annual skin check so fingers crossed! Everyone here is extremely professional. The office is always clean. Even the waiting room is super cozy! There is coffee, soda, water, and juice boxes as refreshments. Such a nice touch. They do sell an abundance of skin care products but I am never able to purchase them because CareCredit does not approve the brands they sell. read more

They double billed me and my insurance for a 2nd visit a week after my annual exam. I had a question about a spot on my ankle they may have overlooked so they told me not to check in or pay another co-pay but then sure enough because I had good insurance, they billed again. Then they inconvenienced me by sending a tiny bill even though I told the billing dept the situation. They wasted my time with this cause we haven't used bank checks to send in payments in many years so I told the billing dept that I'll pay that tiny bill of five dollars when I return for next appt. Then they suggested it would have to go to collections so they must not realize that most people know that medical bill balances cannot be put onto anyone's credit report or they wouldn't use such low class tactics. This place is horrible! I went in for a skin condition. The doctor took swabs of the infected area to send to the lab. She said they would call with the results. I never received a call! I called numerous time trying to find out what the results were. Each time I was told someone would call me back. However, i never heard anything from them. I finally went to my rheumatologist who told me what the condition was. Don't waste your time with this place!! Horrible service! read more

I had a fairly large (to me) basal cell carcinoma removed from my back at the Deerwood office. Service was absolutely FIRST RATE in every way. This is a very well run practice. You couldn't ask for better care. read more

I am a 74 year old female. I have been seeing Katie at Midstate for about 5 years to help my appearance, keeping in mind I am a grandmother. I am not interested in any surgery, but maintaining my appearance with other options. Katie knows about the latest skincare along with the newest science driven procedures i.e. Sulptra, Tox, and lasers. She is trustworthy and driven to encourage only products and procedures that will benefit her patients. Recently Midstate opened an Aesthetic Center devoted to patients cosmetic interests. If you want the gold standard of care and science driven procedures, give them a call and you won't be disappointed read more

Beware! I went to get a refill for 2 prescription creams. They called in the order to my pharmacy. My sweet husband picked up the prescription for me. When he got home there were 9 tubes of cream instead of 2! I made tons of calls, texted the Office, visited the pharmacy to find out what happened. The prescription was written incorrectly. I visited the office and they refused to take responsibility. The kept saying they couldn't do anything. They could have payed me back the $54.00 that their mistake cost me! This office does not take responsibility for it's actions. Watch out!!! read more

Most money hungry place ever! If you are like most people who struggle to live & pay bills then don't go here. I had an appointment on 9/3/2024 and was declined my appointment because I had a small over due balance with them & offered to pay them on it but it wasn't the amount they wanted. So instead of working with me & keeping a patient they decided money was more important. Mind you I told them I'm on a medication that I needed to be seen to get refilled & if I stop it that I have to start the doses all over. No care what so ever from their billing or CFO/owner. They were more concerned with getting $30 more out of me than they were with caring for me as a patient. I've never had such horrible care as I did with them. Mind you Sierra who is my treating physician is great but the CFO and office staff are horrible. Oh and the amount of times they call/text/email to remind you of an appointment is ABSURD! Yet not 1 call to say "hey if you can't pay X amount then we need to reschedule you!" Nope, they wait till you're in front of them & wasted time & gas to go to the office. I don't recommend them at all! I've filed a grievance with my insurance too. read more

Second part of my review. Mid State Skin Institute Doctor Jessin Blossom, MD. my incident with her at the Paddock Park Office on 02/20/2023. I advised the Doctor that I never received my patient copy of my report from the office in the mail. and, that I never yelled, screamed, intimated, or was pushy, I never used profanity, or screamed to the front desk receptionist at the Midstate Skin office front desk at the Paddock Branch office. I'm a customer here. I'm not just someone that just walked up in front the streets. If I was the President of the United States would you treat me this way. The Doctor then tried to correct herself. And, stated that she stated that " I MAY WHAT TO FIND SERVICE'S ELSE WHERE" with the correction on the word "MAY" instead of "AND FIND". Stating that she never said it that way. Trying to correct herself. After I advised the Doctor that I was going to place an internal complaint with her company at MidState Skin Institute; and with the board on her Doctors License, and with on line reviews; and the Better Business Bureau too. That's when she attempted to correct her statement. And, her posture, and tone if voice, demeano, and tone if voice changed to a less aggressive, and lower tone of voice. The Doctor then told me that I didn't have to do that. I then asked her for the name of the front desk receptionist staff lady. She stated you don't need to get her envolved. I advised the Doctor yes. Because the receptionist was a partial witness to what has happened. And, yes I have to do this. Because this will teach you not to treat Custumer 's like this anymore. The Doctor then apologized to me. And, I told her that I apologized also. If the front desk receptionist felt that I was being pushy,or intimating. But, that I wasn't my intent. I just wanted a copy of my patient visit. Of which I have been waiting for a whole year. I then requested to speak to the office manager to Doctor Blossom. That's when the other third staff lady that had been waiting at a distance appeared from within the rear visible front office desk. Stating that she was the manager. Then the Doctor turned around, and departed into the rear of the office. The office manager that was now attending to me refused to give me her name also. But, did write down for me on a piece of paper the name of the Doctor, along with the practice manager e-mail address. And, then a business card with the name of the Practice manager for all three offices Phone number, and mentioned that the practice manager works out of the Dearwood office Branch. But, when asked fir the name of the receptionist that was working the front desk. She refused to give me the name of the receptionist, nor her name also. only 5 stars because they don't go any higher! my visit at midstate skin was the most uplifting, thorough, helpful visit i've ever had with a dermatologist! it seems all of the providers including MD's, PA's, and NP's are extremely knowledgeable and i love that everyone that you see can help you with what you need from costmetics all the way to diagnosing and removing skin cancers. when i had a question about a spot, the MA's guided me to sending a photo via their Klara system and it saved me so much time! they also have three locations which is so accommodating to my schedule. will definately be a life long patient to midstate skin. read more

I first used this practice 3 years ago when my retina specialist was alarmed that I might have skin cancer. Picking this practice out of those covered by my insurance company I called and told of his concern. They had me in just a day or two later. Taking some biopsies I felt that I could not be in more caring hands. I had a positive outcome from that experience and have had regular screenings each year since. I have always received the utmost care in an environment where I never felt rushed and that all of my questions were answered to the fullest. This is the type of medical practice that I never hesitate to recommend. read more

I have used a number of dermatologists in Ocala over the years and when my last dermatologist retired I began using Midstate Skin about three years ago. Simply put, they are EXCELLENT and I would not consider using any other dermatologist. Dr. Ashley Cauthen and the office recently added an accomplished Moh's surgeon--Dr. Jessin Blossom--to their staff. So far, Dr. Blossom has surgically removed two squamous cell carcinomas, one from my face and one from my back area....and the lack of much visible scarring is a true testament to her expertise. I was amazed at the results. I have found the entire staff to be pleasant, caring and professional. You may have to wait a bit to get an appointment, but they are busy for a reason and are well worth waiting for! I'd rate six stars if I could.... read more

I was taken on time with no wait. However I made an appointment with the doctor not one of her assistants. When I called to confirm my appointment I asked them if I was going to see the doctor, not an assistant. Their answer was yes, however that was not the case . This was my first time there. I felt her assistant was in a rush to get to her next appointment after she gave me a skin exam. She did not even ask if I had a skin routine or what I was using. Why is there only one location that does treatments? ( lasers , facials). I'm use to the doctor and assistants doing the laser treatments. read more

Do not use this dermatologist. I scheduled an appointment online (recommended) 2 months ago for an appointment on March 26, 2019. I called to see if they can see me sooner only to be told they have no record of my appointment. Person on the phone acknowledged the glitch and said it happens a lot yet they would not honor the appointment even though I have the email confirming my appointment. Their solution was to give me another appointment for a month later on April 18th. Obviously, they didn't care. read more
