Great photo but very small portions for the price. Nonetheless, a true Japanese cuisine!

Fuji Yaki - Various salmon sushi options (my favorite)

My husband and I stopped in here for dinner one night while in Paris. We were really craving…read moresomething other than typical French food, and were so happy we found this sushi place! We were able to get a table inside quickly. It was a bit later in the night, but the place was still packed! Our service was good and the sushi was great. They have a large menu and everything we had was tasty. Would definitely come back.

After eating French food non-stop for a week and a half we decided we wanted a break and some more…read moreAsian-inspired food. A quick search on the Michelin list and Fuji Yaki came up as a one dollar sign option with a Michelin plate rating. We arrived around 6pm for dinner on a weekday which is incredibly early by French standards and we were seated immediately without a reservation. By the time we left around 7:30p the restaurant was packed full with a line waiting to be seated. Since we had spent the whole day walking around Versailles we decided to ball out a little bit and order the large boat with 10 pieces of sushi and 18 pieces of maki, and 12 pieces of a roll. The ginormous boat also came with a size of salad, soup, and gyoza for the price of $46 Euros. For such a reasonable price I wasn't expecting the quality of the food to be as good as it was, especially since we were in Paris and sushi is not exactly the food I think of when I think of Paris. On top of that the wine list was reasonably priced and the service was excellent. TLDR: I would 100% come here again, sushi is reasonably priced and delicious

Definitely the best sushi I've had here in Paris. Stumbled across this restaurant totally by chance…read moreand decided to give it a try. Upon entering Okuda, it was explained that there are 2 separate sections, so it was a choice between a 10 course traditional degustation or a simpler sushi selection. My mom and I opted for the latter as it seemed less overwhelming and a more reasonable price. The restaurant had 2 dinner servings 6:00pm and 8:30pm, and we had arrived just in time for the first seating. There are only 7 seats in the place which makes for a very intimate setting. Just a simple row of chairs facing the chef. Being the first to arrive, my mom and I had the place to ourselves and enjoyed watching the chef prepare our dishes and explain his methods and ingredients. Chef Tomo was very cheerful and easygoing, glad to answer all the questions we peppered him with and inserting even more details about each dish that made it more special. The service was fantastic, with chef Tomo brandishing his knife made by a Japanese company that forged samurai swords 300 years ago. The staff always made sure our tea was warm and changed teacups with a different type of design each time. We started off with an amuse-bouche of vegetables in a jelly wrapper with a corn based sauce topped with a flake of gold leaf, followed by a marinated steamed beef dish then grilled sea bass with zucchini sprinkled with Yuzu and bonito flakes. The pièce de résistance was the assortment of sushi! Flounder; Sea bass + Yuzu garnish; Red Snapper; Bouget + Yuzu pepper; 16-day aged tuna + Onion; Toro (Fatty Tuna); lobster; Unagi (Wild French eel); Beef wagyu. Polishing off with a Tuna/Toro Temaki with Shiso leaf, ginger & specially made miso paste -- my favorite. The miso soup with mushrooms was very light and savory. The dessert was coconut sorbet with mixed fruits in white wine. A lovely meal all in all. Everything was a wonderful surprise and did not disappoint. ^_^

The crunchy roll with avocado and tempura inside was really good, as well as the one with salmon on top. Will definitely recommend coming here if you are feeling Japanese food! Why can't I find a sushi place in Paris that just blows my mind?…read moreSome place that has something like torch seared baby scallops heaped on top of a lobster tail roll (had this in Gaithersburg, MD of all places). Or fresh super fatty tuna sushi or sea urchin (uni)? (Favorite has been in Sushi Taro in DC) This place was ok but like almost every other sushi place, very formulaic with a menu that has pictures of everything that is available. When you are stuck with a photo menu, I think this stifles the creativity of the chef and prevents them from thinking outside of the box. Yes, the safe sushi eater will feel well within their comfort zone, but c'mon... dining out is about new experiences that will leave you thinking, "I wonder how they did that?" And even if you are trying to be traditional (which this place is not) you should at least go for a super high quality of fish. Yes, the place has good prices, especially the combo menu for lunch and it is worth trying out. Check out my pics. Everything was A-OK. No complaints.

As we walked down this little lane, we came across this corner that looked great for outside dining and people watching. The only downside about outdoor restaurants in Paris is the amount of smokers and smoke that wafts into your face as your eating, but we chose our own seats. Also, we felt a little ignored by staff outside and took us awhile to order, get our food and get their attention. I would understand if they were busy, but the wait staff hung out inside and made us have to get up to ask for assistance a few times. The food was good, but it's sushi. As long as the fish is fresh and rolled properly, it's going to be good. Just frankly not worth all the trouble looking back. When we finished, we had to find our server again. We weren't given the option of a printed receipt, they wanted us to pay from seeing the total on the screen, which was hard when you have a group of people. It wasn't cheap either, so it was odd that we needed to deal with this and had no record of what we purchased or the final cost. Without any other option, we had one person pay and we left. Lesson learned, sometimes walking by and choosing a place based on the location is not the best idea. Next time, I'll make sure to check yelp.
