WARNING: FOOD POISONING!
This review is wholly impartial and serves only to speak with candor about a horrid recent experience at this establishment. It is not my desire to defame a company's name, but I can say with confidence that this Japanese restaurant in the heart of Paris' Latin Quarter is more than deserving of a pejorative review.
I went here to grab a quick bite with a friend at dinnertime (saw it from the sidewalk, figured it would suffice). We were in a bit of a rush so we disregarded the cheap, dull, and lifeless ambiance. We both ordered combo specials which involved various types of meat and my friend also ordered sushi/sashimi.
The food from the onset tasted pretty abysmal, so much so that we put the fork (or chopsticks) down halfway through the meal. It was ostensibly just another forgettable, second-rate hasty hunger reliever.
The next day, we both felt a little queasy, but it seemed negligible. Just an upset stomach--it'll pass in no time.
The following morning we found ourselves sick with some of the worst FOOD POISONING we've ever had. I don't know if the meat wasn't prepared correctly or if the chef opted not to adhere to proper hygiene protocol, but regardless, it's outright disgusting and flagrantly unacceptable. I write this review two days later feeling sick as a dog--so if you want to experience an insufferable, agonizing, burning sensation in your stomach accompanied by a 102 degree fever and sore, aching muscles, while being cooped up in your bathroom for days on end having to continually change your shirt from the profusion of sweat oozing from your overheated, languid body, only then would I recommend this pseudo-Japanese eatery.
I'm still feeling the effects as I write this, and it's outright brutal. Yesterday we were both physically incapacitated. We just arrived in Paris last week and this was our first weekend here--only to be ruined by a single regrettable dinner, a veritable nightmare that you now have the ability to shun. I can only assume numerous other hapless customers were afflicted with the same food-borne illness. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
UPDATE: I realize now that another reviewer, 3 years ago, also got food poisoning after a terrible experience. This means two things: the owners/chefs don't have the capacity to learn from their mistakes, or simply don't give a hoot. Secondly, I really should have vetted this place before dining. read more
