Green Tea Kit Kat
Michelle T.

This is the only place I know of in NYC that sells Green Tea KitKats and Passionfruit KitKats at a reasonable price. They charge about $6.99 a bag, which is a lot cheaper than Yaya's, who sells them a couple of dollars more. They also sell Green Tea Crunch Bars, which is pretty special as well. The people who work there are all very nice. They're really helpful with the merchandise and are pretty knowledgable about what things taste like/if they're good. One star off for my expired Peach Tea!

I was thrilled to find this locally owned perfectly sized grocery store. It is small, only two aisles, but has a nice variety of offerings.

Well-stocked with a range of asian products. Selection without so many options that you feel overwhelmed. Very nice staff to boot.

Hopefully the manager changes its mind and makes the discount time earlier than 8pm! Otherwise, they have a nice stock of onigiris at around $3.50 each. I tried their cooked salmon and spicy salmon and they were very fresh and nice to eat. Buttery and smooth salmon. They got salmon and tuna sushi too that are affordable and less than $10 so that's a pretty good deal apart from their 8pm discount offer. Place overall sells light snacks like chips and ice cream. I saw that they got matcha ice cream but couldn't buy that because the weather is still hot so it's going to melt before I get home. I live 2 train stops away from this place so it's kind of far to buy matcha ice cream back and forth in the fall weather when it's still warm out.

I was in the area and was looking for a quick spot to cool off. The market is super tiny, but…read moreoffers some good Asian essentials. I ended up getting a small tray of Spicy Salmon Rolls ($5.99 for 6pcs). It's a tad pricey at $1 per piece, but good deal if you come after 8pm when it's 50% off. It was decent and satisfied my cravings though. They have a small counter along the window for you to sit and eat your food though, which is nice.

Today, we were here with our friend, our friend bought the wrong flavor of ice cream and tried to return or swap for a different flavor. The same male manager refused a refund because the ice cream was "melted" since it was purchased 30 minutes ago. Our friend didn't know we had tried this flavor before and didn't like it and just wanted to swap it for mango. Here's the "melted" ice cream that we weren't allowed to return. The workers are always so kind and sweet, so is the female manager, but this guy is always hostile and aggressive to selective customers. This place is always busy and packed and many times I see people do the same thing where one person sits when another is on line with the food and seems to be an issue as of recent. I don't know the reason, but I've never had a problem doing this before in the past 2 almost 3 years. We purchase all of our food, sit quietly, clean up after ourselves, I don't see the issue with sitting while another purchases or why we couldn't return an unopened box of ice cream just to swap flavors.

This compact Japanese grocery store offers a wide variety of snacks, and a great prepared food section. After 8pm, almost all the prepared food items are 50% off which is a deal. Staff and service is always nice and efficient. Primarily a takeout spot, there's some minimal seating.

It's a small shop, but they have a wide array of goods from artisanal soy sauces to snacks to handmade soaps to Taiwanese themed cards and decor to Tatung rice cookers. A lot of their products are sourced directly from Taiwan and are of great quality. It is located right next to Win Son Bakery, so you can stop by after getting a bite to eat. Yun Hai is the only place I know of to buy organic Taiwanese-grown mesona for making grass jelly (or just mesona tea before you add something to set it into jelly), so we bought two packs to take home with us. I made some grass jelly and mesona tea this past weekend for my parents to remind them of Taiwan. Even if you don't have the chance to visit the physical store, you can shop their goods online to support this amazing small business (and they make great gifts too if you are looking for something special this holiday season)!
