    Green Tea Kit Kat
    Michelle T.

This is the only place I know of in NYC that sells Green Tea KitKats and Passionfruit KitKats at a reasonable price. They charge about $6.99 a bag, which is a lot cheaper than Yaya's, who sells them a couple of dollars more. They also sell Green Tea Crunch Bars, which is pretty special as well. The people who work there are all very nice. They're really helpful with the merchandise and are pretty knowledgable about what things taste like/if they're good. One star off for my expired Peach Tea!

I like this store because it has little bit of everything. It kinda reminded me Japanese convenience stores. No deli tho.

Yuzu sorbet! Pricy $4 but so good. Things are pricier than sunrise mart in Manhattan.

This compact Japanese grocery store offers a wide variety of snacks, and a great prepared food section. After 8pm, almost all the prepared food items are 50% off which is a deal. Staff and service is always nice and efficient. Primarily a takeout spot, there's some minimal seating.

Today, we were here with our friend, our friend bought the wrong flavor of ice cream and tried to return or swap for a different flavor. The same male manager refused a refund because the ice cream was "melted" since it was purchased 30 minutes ago. Our friend didn't know we had tried this flavor before and didn't like it and just wanted to swap it for mango. Here's the "melted" ice cream that we weren't allowed to return. The workers are always so kind and sweet, so is the female manager, but this guy is always hostile and aggressive to selective customers. This place is always busy and packed and many times I see people do the same thing where one person sits when another is on line with the food and seems to be an issue as of recent. I don't know the reason, but I've never had a problem doing this before in the past 2 almost 3 years. We purchase all of our food, sit quietly, clean up after ourselves, I don't see the issue with sitting while another purchases or why we couldn't return an unopened box of ice cream just to swap flavors.

It's a small shop, but they have a wide array of goods from artisanal soy sauces to snacks to handmade soaps to Taiwanese themed cards and decor to Tatung rice cookers. A lot of their products are sourced directly from Taiwan and are of great quality. It is located right next to Win Son Bakery, so you can stop by after getting a bite to eat. Yun Hai is the only place I know of to buy organic Taiwanese-grown mesona for making grass jelly (or just mesona tea before you add something to set it into jelly), so we bought two packs to take home with us. I made some grass jelly and mesona tea this past weekend for my parents to remind them of Taiwan. Even if you don't have the chance to visit the physical store, you can shop their goods online to support this amazing small business (and they make great gifts too if you are looking for something special this holiday season)!
