They are so friendly and an invaluable part of the neighborhood. Great place for everything Japanese and the owner is super friendly. Thank you. read more

A small yet might Japanese grocery store! Most know of Ten Ichi nearby, but midoriya has all the necessities and for cheaper, particularly Japanese items (can't speak for other Asian items/snacks). I often drop by for mirin, natto, frozen dumplings, umeboshi, seaweed, etc. This is definitely the preferred option for me for Asian grocery items in Williamsburg since I go through Japanese items extremely quickly. the store owner is also very kind and welcoming, and of course, Japanese! As a note, they have a $10 card minimum. read more

I like this store because it has little bit of everything. It kinda reminded me Japanese convenience stores. No deli tho.

Midoriya is a small Japanese store in Williamsburg. It wasn't busy when I entered. The place happened to be operated by three Japanese women. I heard a radio in the background. Compared to the prices at Ten Ichi Mart, the place here is slightly more. However, the place has everything from snacks to household appliances. I ordered canned sardines, a bottle of Milk Tea, and a bag of senbei crackers. The casher had to recalculate the items again after making the mistake of adding a discount. read more

I loved the product quality, the price is the best and the lady is so sweet. 10/10 I came by accident but it was so lovely inside and the customer service is great. read more

This is the only place I know of in NYC that sells Green Tea KitKats and Passionfruit KitKats at a reasonable price. They charge about $6.99 a bag, which is a lot cheaper than Yaya's, who sells them a couple of dollars more. They also sell Green Tea Crunch Bars, which is pretty special as well. The people who work there are all very nice. They're really helpful with the merchandise and are pretty knowledgable about what things taste like/if they're good. One star off for my expired Peach Tea! read more

This place is currently open 3p-7p (I assume 7days but not sure) People please do NOT call this establishment to ask its business hour. There's pretty much only one lady does the entire operation and she barely has time to answer the phone. read more

They don't have a large selection of produce or anything, but if it's packaged it's probably there. There's a lot of ramen, noodles, sauces, and condiments. There's also a small beauty section and a ceramic section for dishware. Plenty of snacks as well. Not much meat selection either, and it's all freezer items. If you just need some light cooking staples, this is a good place to stop by. But for more perishable things, look elsewhere. Also unlike most Japanese markets, they have a very very small selection of premade foods, and it's mainly just the rice balls. read more

Very friendly owner! I asked some questions about the various Asian noodles and she gave me her honest opinions and didn't make me feel silly for asking my American questions. LOL Will continue to support this business. 5 stars! read more

Great little spot in Brooklyn for Asian staples. Lots of snacks, different kinds and brands of ramen, noodles (like soba, etc) and furikake, which I love. There are always cool things you've never heard of too. Recommended spot! read more

I don't see the many items what I'm looking for... Nowadays, Japanese food are easy to get @regular supermarket. A lot products don't have the price customer survives are row late. it's kind a lack of communication skills, however they keep talking Talking In Japanese. during the corona time, They wouldn't write store hrs At all. While I'm at the store, They all of the sudden Close the light. I was thinking Not to buy all the products. After I mentioned that, They wouldn't say anything. @this place, manager has to be changed. read more

I love this place, and is literally my savior for Asian products in the area as I live in Williamsburg and can stay local. They have everything I need especially as I have increased the amount I cook- they have a ton of varieties for Japanese curry, shrimp chips, frozen dumpling wrappers, pickled plums, ramen, soba, etc etc etc. Their selection is really impressive for being a small store, and they run it well with social distancing. Also their prices are truly reasonable- not cheaper than Chinatown but cheaper than the main grocery stores. Really great market and SO happy to have it in the neighborhood! read more

I go here every week for groceries. All the workers there are super nice. They have so many yummy snacks and instant ramen options for good prices. They also sell bowls and soaps! read more

My bill came to $9.98 but they wouldn't let me use a credit card because they have a $10 minimum. I even asked to have 2 cents added to my bill but they refused. Seems like a stupid business model. I've been coming here for years, going out of my ways sometimes to shop there, but I think I'll find my cheap kimchi elsewhere. read more

Small but mighty Japanese grocery shop! You can find some unique items here and also most of the Japanese grocery basics that you might want. Support this cute little shop!! read more

The guy at the counter was cute and he started speaking Japanese to me. Wow, I am flattered. But then when I stared back blankly at him, we both blushed. He had a beautiful smile, was very friendly, and his energy felt good. I wandered into this shop one afternoon when I felt thirsty. What a nice little find! Sure, it is a mini-mart, but you can find all your Japanese and Asian treats here. They even have a small produce section! You can find HERE: Asian gummy candy with interesting flavors (lychee, mango, etc) Pocky, and more pocky. Pretz All kinds of packaged ramen Mochi (any kind of mochi) Natto (yummy) Cold case with lots of Asian iced tea choices (Oolong, green, etc) Frozen section (I didn't look to see what they have) I would definitely come back when in the area. After all, I am Asian, and sometimes, I do need my fix! read more

I found this place on yelp while looking for green tea kit kat. The Green tea kit Kay's here are around $7.45 for a bag of 12 pieces. This small convenient japanese grocery with lots of yummy treats located in Williamsburg. There is a lot of interesting Japanese products here. Some people complain about high prices but these prices are what you normally find in elsewhere (Around the same as Chinese supermarkets). I only came here for sweets but I do recommend this place to people who like Japanese snacks. Not to mention the female cashier is very nice & polite! read more

Good selection of frozen and dry foods with a few fresh items as well. I got a tasty little seaweed salad here for less than $2! They also sell these dope ice cream sandwiches with red bean paste. Frozen ramen and dumplings galore. Tons of sweet and salty snacks. A wide assortment of housewares and cosmetic products, too. Great place to pick up a gift for someone. read more

Ok. I rarely give one star to any establishment because I think just because you don't like the product doesn't mean the place is bad and everyone deserves a chance. But this time, I must give this establishment a one star. If possible, I will give 0 Star. My wife and I are regulars here. We live nearby and this is the only Japanese store that sells stuff that we really like. Unfortunately, the failure to teach its staff the basic common sense customer service is unacceptable. I was with my wife and my 2 year old at the store. My wife was shopping and I was standing by the cashier with my 2 year old. Another customer, a grown up, accidentally dropped 2 boxes of glass cups. The cashier, a middle aged Asian lady, ran towards that customer, apologized to him by telling its okay, I will pick it up for you, and proceeded to pick up the boxes that fell on the floor. So that was pretty awesome customer service. A few minutes later, my 2 year old daughter, accidentally dropped 2 candy bars on the floor. Instead of providing the same customer service like she gave to the previous GROWN UP customer, she ran towards my daughter, grabbed the candy bar from her and yelled at her "DONT TOUCH"! It was 2 candy bars compared to 2 boxes of GLASS CUPS. That is not how you treat children! The least you can do is tell my child please do not do that, not yell at her rudely. Why? Because she's only 2 years old! And you scared my daughter, which is truly NOT ACCEPTABLE. I truly hope the management of this store will see this and train your staff a little bit of kindness and manners to toddlers. read more

This place is a gem! They have a lot of frozen vegan stuff as well as spices, toppings galore. I come here specifically for the furikake. Makes plain rice 1000% better. There's two vegan options, the rest contain fish. read more

We come here a lot whenever we need some Japanese groceries. They don't have wide varieties of choices but hey it's convenient. There is an older Japanese lady at the cash register sometimes, not sure if it's because language barrier, she doesn't seem to be happy and nice. Words from her could sound mean and rude. Hope it's just lost in translation! read more

Yes it's smaller than EV's sunrise but it's been an established Japanese mart in this neighborhood before it came the "IT" place to be on the weekends. Staff is friendly without intruding and prices aren't that unreasonable across the river. Maybe a quarter more here and there but that's the order for convenience. There's some veggies, varieties of tofu a whole selection of frozen edamame, siu mai, gyoza, even Berkshire pork. Then there's the yummy snacks and rice balls in case the neighborhood selection of bars and coffee cafes are too hipster for u ;) Mochi and ice cream too! read more

In general it's a very cute place, if you miss Japan. I was amazed to discover that they were selling items from the 1$ chain stores in Japan as if they are expensive Luxury items. it made me sad. read more

What a hidden gem! I found this small grocery shop when I was walking around Williamsburg. I would compare this store to a small sized CVS but specializing in Japanese products. They carry everything from refrigerated, dry, and frozen food, as well as beauty and hair products. Everything looks to be imported with packaging in Japanese text. The staff is really helpful if you want some assistance figuring out what the items are. Some of my favorites include special flavors of Kit Kats (Japan's favorite chocolate) and the hot coffee in cans heated in a small cooler at the check out register. Even if you're new to Japanese products, I would recommend visiting for a fun trip to browse some new flavors and ingredients. read more

There are a lot of accolades to bestow upon Midoriya, but the only one that matters for me is: Onigiri Dispensary. That's it. You should take it on principle that they are super polite, well-organized, and spotlessly clean. They have savories, beers, sweets, dishware, snacks, random strange Japanese curios, on and on, so forth. But really: Onigiri Dispensary. read more

Calorie Mate?!? My Solid Snake cosplay is nearing completion... What? Don't be misled by the large doors on the left - you should go through the entryway of the weird clothing store and head left through the small, minimally marked door. This is Midoriya. Inside, there are predominately snacks: shrimp crackers, Anpan-man shaped chocolates, and of course, Pocky. Fortunately, there are things other than snacks. In the back, there are frozen udon noodles(which are actually good), karaage, gyoza, and several dozen types of ramen. And on the left, you'll discover...the DVDs for rent! I almost died laughing seeing some of these titles, but others were intriguing, and still others were downright good. I also believe you can buy the DVDs, if you so choose. At the front, they sell tchotchkes, like tea sets and bento boxes. While browsing, keep in mind that there's a $15 minimum for a card, but given the amount of great things and the slightly higher than average prices, you'll probably reach that. Just don't show the owner the Kikkoman commercial with the cat who hangs itself. He won't be amused, and he will gun you down. Snake? Come in, Snake. Snake?? SNAKEEEEEEEEEEEEE read more

A Japanese Mini Mart in Williamsburg? YES! Finally! I am so happy to find a place close to home so I can buy all my Asian goodies without having to leave for the city! I found my favorite gummy candies, green tea ice cream, and Japanese sodas! I am very happy! read more

Green Tea Kit Kats available, enough said! They're a tiny shop and have the kit kats available at the counter, but they also have a really wide selection of other products from dinnerware, snacks, sauces, cosmetics, etc. I was looking for a particular brand of bb cream, but it didn't look like they carried any bb creams at all. Bummer. They have tons of face washes, cosmetics, etc. if you're interested though. For a larger store experience or more chances of availability of products, I'll opt to pay tolls and cross the tunnel to NJ, but this is a great local alternative. read more

Love this spot! They stock everything from Japanese imported & California koshihikari rice and cooking sake to specialty soy sauce and green tea ice cream. But wait, there's more! They have a cozy fresh produce section complete with prepared bentos and onigiri, an ample amount of frozen goods ranging from gyoza wrappers, dumplings, octopus, fish, ramen and more, and a wide array of snacks and cookware. Thrilled to find a little Japanese market nearby in Williamsburg. Lots of Japanese goods you would normally only find in a Japanese section of town. As for the reviewer that gave 2 stars because they "would rather take the extra drive to Mitsuwa" ... hey, I love Mitsuwa too but to this is like comparing your corner bodega to a giant superstore out in the burbs. Kinda silly to mark a place down for not being something it's not trying to be. This is great for what it is; I was happy to stumble upon this place. Sure stuff might be cheaper somewhere else but if you live in the neighborhood first you'd have to spend the money and time to go to that somewhere else. read more

Yuzu sorbet! Pricy $4 but so good. Things are pricier than sunrise mart in Manhattan.

All the Japanese goodies you need are available here-from beer, ramen, candies, and snacks. Prices are reasonable and worth it even if it's a little bit more because you don't have to go to the east village or edgewater, nj. I wish they had a ready to eat section of sushi or onigiri like sunrise or mitsuwa though. read more

Japanese Groceries galore. They have all of the great japanese groceries that I remember from the time I spent in Japan. They also have fresh Onigiri (rice ball) and bento lunches everyday.
