I came in Saturday, asked if they were going to be open tomorrow (which was Sunday) I was told yes,…read morethat they would be open until 6 pm. So Sunday, I drove all the way from O'Malley, because all the other locations are closed Sunday's and I'm trying to build a tan for my upcoming trip. When I got to the salon I found they were closed for the day for training. I had literally asked, not even 24 hours before if they would be open the next day and they confirmed yes. Really disappointed... I had just filled my tank up before heading to wasilla. I ended up almost half a tank of gas. Plus it's a 57 mins drive one directions and 57 mins back. 2 hours of my day I can't get back and a very expensive drive. I am still very upset about yesterday.

The only other hair salon in Alaska I've tried is Salon Ivy in Anchorage. Now that I've found this salon, don't think I'll be back to the other place. These guys are a full service salon and my stylist even jokingly referred to their shop as the only "Old Lady Salon" in town because they're the only ones that do the shampoo and set. Anyway, for my purposes today, I decided to take a BIG step and chop a bunch of my hair off. The stylist Rayna was exceedingly patient and helpful in discussing with me options for how I might want my hair to look. Having fine hair but lots of it makes for a tangled up nightmare when it gets too long....not to mention all the shedding. Rayna helped me come up with a good haircut that will give my hair lots of body, while being easy to manage. In a normal setting, I'd have done either a partial or full set of highlights but that wasn't needed today because I'd recently done my own hair. Rayna did show me some great options for highlights in the future should I decide to use them for that service. The shop itself is pleasant. The owner Noel is also extremely nice and easy to talk to. This salon is perhaps one of the most relaxing salons I've been in, largely because both stylists are kind, they listen while giving thoughtful suggestions, and they're super down to earth and easy to talk to! One thing I'd like to say about Rayna in particular is that she has a very nice, relaxing way of working with your hair. She's gentle, very careful about NOT pulling your hair--which is fantastic when you're tender-headed like me lol--AND, she gave me the BEST scalp massage while washing and conditioning my hair that I've ever had! It is rare to find a stylist with a nice touch that doesn't manage to pull or tug on your hair at least once or twice, but Rayna never once hurt me. I'd really recommend her for people with tender heads. All in all, I came away from here very happy with my cut and general experience. Highly recommend to anyone! 10/10

The times that I went here I had Meli do my spray tan and she was phenomenal. For those of you who haven't done it, spray tans are a somewhat comical experience as you stand naked and someone essentially sprays you down like you're a car getting a fresh coat of paint. But meli did a phenomenal job making the experience enjoyable providing great conversation and making the awkward positions required to minimalist weird tan lines feel less awkward. She did so well I came back and referred her to a friend. She will definitely be my go to person in the future!
