This company is a criminal enterprise. Please do not use them. Everything that is described in the negative reviews is happening to me now. I wish I had done my research because if I had, I would never have hired this company. I am so scared I will never see my belongings again or if I do, they will be unusable or irrepairable. Please do not use this company. They are absolutely liars and scammers: 1. They initially underquoted my long distance move from Wichita, KS to Charlotte, NC. 2. When they called to confirm the pick up date(s) and the inventory of my household goods I willingly agreed to pay $6200 up from $5000 to ensure adequate cubic feet on the truck and quality, professional packing services. At this point, they know you are in between a rock and a hard place because of the time limitations to coordinate a long distance move: this recognition is used as leverage to gouge you for more money. In addition, you have already made a large deposit which is no longer refundable. 3. They only accept cash which prevents the consumer from disputing the transaction as fraud which they fully intend to commit. Only disreputable moving companies demand large deposits and payment in cash. 4. On the day of my pick up only one man arrived in a dirty Penske truck. Midland Van Lines is not a carrier with their own trucks as they claim. The U.S. Department of Transportation lists the size of their fleet at 6 trucks. Customer service continued to insist that they are a carrier despite this documented fact. In addition, they are not accredited with the Better Business Bureau as advertised. 5. The man who arrived insisted my move would cost $8000 up from $6200 because I was quoted inadequate cubic feet in addition to a full-service pack and ship. He and his supervisors proceeded to gaslight me using my ignorance about cubic feet to convince me that I had not paid for enough. (Afterwards, I learned that $8.00 a cubic foot is considered standard for long distance moves. Using this formula I should have paid $4488 for 561 cubic feet. I had already agreed to $6200 at this point which included full service pack and ship.) They then offered to start loading the truck so I could see how woefully inadequate 561 cubic feet is. I rejected this offer and threatened to cancel the entire job. After 1 1/2 hours of negotiation we agreed to proceed at $6500 up from $6200. However, I had to pay $2685 in cash. 7. I became suspicious when no one else arrived to help and I saw how my furniture and belongings were being packed. My couch was not wrapped properly. He put it standing up vertically on the truck which is guaranteed to damage it. My brand new mattress and adjustable base which I am still paying for were not protected with the proper materials. My glass coffee table was not properly wrapped or protected. My clothes were shoved into boxes instead of hung in wardrobe boxes. I have no doubt that other fragile items were improperly packed and will be damaged. Still, I felt bad for this man and bought him dinner and tipped him in cash. That was before I did my research belatedly and found out that what I had been dealing with was exactly what others had experienced. 8. As of today I have no idea where my belongings are or when they will be delivered. I have been promised call backs from either Kathy or Rachel who are supposed to be managers. Neither has contacted me. In addition to the broken verbal promises regarding price and the assurances of quality packing services and professional care of my belongings, Anthony promised I would receive my shipment in 5-7 days. The time frame was specifically why I cancelled service with another mover who I became suspicious of. Ironically, both companies accused each other of being scammers. At least the other company played a recording on the phone informing you that they are brokers - which is what Midland Van Lines is even though they claim to be carriers - and that they can not guarantee price or anything else regarding your service. I did see on the Midland Van Lines contract that I may not receive my goods for 14 days. I called Anthony on this yet he swore I would receive my goods in 5-7 days. 9. I am waiting for someone with some authority and integrity at Midland Van Lines to do the right thing and rectify this situation. If they do, I will gladly update this review accordingly. read more

WARNING: Do Not Hire This Company - Complete Fraud Please read this before hiring them. This company is a total scam. Everything they promise is a lie. They subcontract local, unprofessional laborers who handled my belongings carelessly and caused extensive damage. The only smooth part of the process was the initial conversation with the salesperson, Luke Sullivan, who made everything sound perfect--but it was all deception. The day before the scheduled pickup, the office called to confirm a pickup window of 10 AM to noon. However, on the day of, the driver called and said he'd arrive by 3 PM. He didn't show up until 5 PM. Two other so-called "professional movers" arrived 30 minutes later, reeking of marijuana and clearly under the influence. The first thing the driver asked was whether they had any tools, and they said no. That should tell you everything. They didn't finish loading until 11 PM. The driver then told me he was heading straight to my destination and that I needed to be there to receive the delivery or it would be offloaded elsewhere and I'd have to arrange transport myself. Based on this, I changed my travel plans. The next day, while I was en route to Florida, I texted the driver for an update. He replied saying his plans changed and he no longer had my things--he told me to call the office. After about 20 calls, I finally heard back from another driver two weeks later. This second driver also gave me a 10 AM-12 PM delivery window--but didn't show up until 7:30 PM. When they finally unloaded my items, about 85% of them were damaged. Some things were still usable, but most were destroyed or badly broken. This was an awful experience from start to finish. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

This is my first business review online ever. I am currently in the middle of a move from Los Angeles to Denver and I can not stress enough, do not use this company. They have had out stuff for over 4 weeks and we still haven't received it. We haven't received a single ETA after they loaded our belongings onto the truck. We paid for a move and we canceled within the time frame. We contacted them 13 times for our refund and they always say they have forwarded the message to the manager, and to finance department. They are completely worthless. I asked to speak to a lead or supervisor or manager and they could never transfer me to anyone. I have filed a FTC complaint as well as a complaint with the better business bureau. As far as I can tell this company provides very poor services. They are quick to take your money. As for getting it back if you choose not to use their service they disappoint. Do yourself a favor and use anyone else but these people. Its very very sad. I just moved cross country from Philadelphia to Colorado. Looked for moving companies this past winter to try and prepare and maybe get a better rate. Contacted Midland van lines after a few google searches and reading websites and the customer service/sales person I talked to was great. He was very responsive and flexible and explained that because I booked in February, I'd get a discounted rate. A few days later I had a phone call for about 30 min. Where I went over all the inventory they should expect to pick up and move to calculate approximate square footage. I always oversell how much I have because I know boxes and things add up so I hold them in detail every piece of furniture from my 1-bedroom house and they quoted me around 8,000. I thought this is expensive but it's cross country and for the ease of not having to transport all my things and drive a big truck on the highway it seemed necessary. 2 more phone calls confirmed the inventory and estimate. Day of the move They loaded the truck and found that the space needed was roughly 50% more than originally quoted moving the sum to over $12000. But at this point it was either pay the extra $4000 or lose the $3500 deposit I had paid. I left on Thursday and arrived on Saturday and then the communication was almost non-existent. someone called me 14 days later telling me that they'd be there in a few days. then they asked me if an 18 wheeler would fit in my lot and I said i don't know and warned them of a sharp turn to get into the lot. 3 days later (3rd Sunday after the move) they arrive with an 18 wheeler and say that because it can't fit in the lot, I have two options: 1. ⁠Go myself to rent a smaller U-Haul/truck and they will load things onto it, but then I have to drive it to my apartment and unload everything myself (I am not strong enough to move my furniture by myself) or 2. ⁠Pay $1200 for them to go rent a smaller truck and shuttle the stuff for me from the 18 wheeler to my apartment. So the original total of $8000 is now $13000. Last kicker and most devastating is that I'm a jeweler and the only box missing was the one with all my jewelry and metal work from the last decade. I needed to move from OK to New Jersey. I gave the salesperson a list he quoted but didn't include 3 large pieces. I told him and he said he corrected it. Two days before move the "QA" person called. I asked if the 3 pieces had been added. No. He added them and tried to increase the price by over $3000 dollars citing I needed 300 more cubic feet. I argued with him he wanted the extra money then. I told him I'd call him back. I figured out how to reduce the load by 300 ft and actually decreased it by 400. He said it was too late he already submitted the original list and I'd just have to leave my big items behind and still tried to bill me an additional $1200 at pickup. I called the customer service rep. She straightened it out. I actually only owed the original pickup price. Now comes moving day. They were supposed to pickup between 0800 and 1100. At 2pm I called customer service "we'll have the driver call you"...I called again at 3:30 we'll have the driver call you.....I called again at 4:30 we'll have the driver...no you won't let me talk to you manager. She isn't available. Okay then let me speak to her boss. Hold please. 20 minutes later they disconnected. I called back abd was told the driver is 2 hours away and will be there by 6. At 530 I received a call asking if they could change days. Instead of a 5 to 8 o'clock pick up today they pick up tomorrow. My pickup was from 0800 to 1100 TODAY. Now I'm scheduled for 0800 to 1200 tomorrow and am supposed to fly out at 0500 the following day. If you are contacted by Midland don't walk RUN away. Let's see if they actually show tomorrow. So far the trip to show Midland what furniture to pick up with flights, car, Uber to Airport and lost wages over $6900. I almost forgot if I didnt have the extra $3000 and cancelled they would KEEP my $4000 deposit. Scam artists and crooks. read more

Horrible experience. Midland Van Lines did not show up in the 4-hour window to pick up. Had to call them two days later and inquire if they were picking up. Again, 30 minutes late for said pickup time. Picked up items and tacked on an additional $1,178 claiming an additiobnal 200 cu. ft. of property loaded on truck. Refused us access to truck to verify measurement of our personal belongings on the truck. Demanded full payment, including additional $1,178, before unloading items with no verification of how much was loaded. Once unloaded, drove off as fast as they could. We did measure the items individually and found we had 133 cubic foot of goods, was willing to pay for the minimum 300 cubic foot, however Midland charged for 500 cubic foot, an additional 200 cubic foot at $5.89 per cubic foot. Customer service refuses to address or refund the overpayment of $1,178.00. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are absolutely terrible! My stuff was picked up from my house in CA on May 30, 2025, and it is now June 18, and I have not received my stuff. They never call you with updates and they never return your calls. I called every day last week and finally got a response. They told me my stuff was in transit on June 9 and it would arrive Monday, June 16 between 8-10am. Well, that ship has sailed and nothing arrived. I called all day long on Monday and finally after threatening a lawsuit someone called me back to tell me that stuff had not left California yet and would probably be leaving Wednesday, June 18. I called this morning and was told it's supposed to be loaded on a truck today, but they couldn't give me a time or any other information. They said I needed to wait to hear from the driver, but they had no idea when that would be. When is signed up for this company Jacob called me and told me that he would be my point of contact from the day I signed the contract until the day my furniture arrived. He emailed me is contact info and said I could call anytime with any questions, and he would be here for me the whole time. Needless to say, I have been calling that number and emailing for almost a month and Jacob has never once answered the phone, returned my calls or emails. read more

Do not use. Our delivery was terrible. We had to pay more up front in order to get our belongings delivered. Only two men came to unload an entire truck at delivery. One of the moving men smelled strongly of weed and the smell continued to get stronger as he brought more items into our home. We had damage to our floors, walls, and furniture. The movers that came made comments about how our belongings were taken care of. You could tell some one went through our belongings. My wife's jewerly was stolen. The company does not seem to care. They now state we were scammed. It was a fraud moving company that moved us. If fraud was committed it began with midland vanlines because they gave this company our personal information. Midline vanlines officially booked our move when they accepted our deposit. This acknowledge has their correct DOT numbers on it. read more

This was a horrible experience. While our load size doubled from our original quote, the price went up by 4 X. We were expecting delivery on a Tuesday and the truck showed up at 7 PM on a Thursday night. The truckers told us that they could not unload until we paid the balance. They would not accept a wire transfer of Funds and Sherilyn Jones who worked for them insisted that we Venmo the balance or she would not let the movers unload. Venmo would not accept transfers of the size we needed so it had to be sent in smaller increments. Sherilyn was abusive, rude and talked over us while we tried to get instructions or find an alternative. She was screaming in the phone at one point. A truly miserable experience. They will give you a quote that isn't even close to what they charge you in the end. They gave us a new estimate after everything was packed that stated not to sign if it wasn't presented before packing. When we refused to sign it due to the cost being 3 times more than agreed upon, the driver refused to leave until we did. We wrote a disclaimer on the bill of laden stating that we didn't receive the form beforehand and are being pressured by the driver to sign. When we called the company back they said they would not charge us for the extra storage. Then two weeks later another person called claiming we owed more money and that the person who told us we didn't have to pay more didn't work there anymore. When we explained to them that we were pressured into signing the form, the representative stated " it's not like he put a knife up to you." Very unprofessional customer service. Absolutely horrendous company. I would give it a zero if I could. First crew they sent out me, the guy starts demanding cash, tacking in insane fees and demanding it be paid in cash (after he damaged a tree on the property for not parking where I told him too). I gave the company a chance to make it right and send out a different crew. Second crew was lovely (but still subcontractors, so in no way reflects back onto Midland). Now, after repeatedly being assured I would have a specific delivery day because I need to schedule it with my building, they are telling me they haven't even scheduled when my things will be arriving (less than two days before the delivery I was promised and it has to get across the country). They have had my belongings for a week and haven't even scheduled anything? Are you serious? I have tried to be understanding, but they are repeatedly saying one thing and doing another and I have zero faith that this company will do the right thing. If I don't hear about the scheduled delivery soon, I plan on filing complaints with DOT and FMCSA and recommend anyone who has dealt with this company to do the same, because they are straight scamming at this point. If I finally get my items and they are in good condition, I will adjust this review, but if they can't even get a schedule right, I worry what they will actually do to my belongings or if I get them at all. read more

This is a BROKER. They will sell out your business to haphazard "movers" and also leave your items in storage for weeks. We had the worst experience with Midland. The initial quote was $7k which seemed right for an elderly couple moving 700 miles to a small two bedroom. Oh, and we did all the packing. They did NO packing. A couple of weeks later, they ballooned to $14,000 and by the time of delivery, the cost was over $20,000. Worse they COMPLETELY TRASHED my mother's items. Boxes totally broken down. Innumerable items broken. And 2 matching dining room chairs TOTALLY GONE. They also sold her a bill of goods on the first call (like so many here mentioned) and told her she could have her "exact dates" because of a recent cancellation. They completely abuse seniors and then respond with "well you signed the contract, so...." I am absolutely CONVINCED the good reviews on here are BS and staged to off set all of the 1 star reviews. DO NOT USE Midland Van Lines!!! (MVL) should be sued! We moved from Houston to South Carolina in April. Like other reviews they gave a quote, started packing our stuff, & loading the truck. Stopped loading and to continue loading they demanded $20,000 more. Yikes! Thank God we had time to pivot. If we needed to move by the next day we would have no choice but to sign the new quote of $32,000 to take everything. We filled only a truck with MVL with just our furniture and several boxes based on the original $12,000 quote and the deposit we payed or loose it. After they left with our stuff: never received a copy of the signed commitment; never returned our calls, We signed to have it delivered 5/22/25. We called days before to confirm day and time. We were told that dispatch will contact us. No one called. Called on 5/22 they said "read the contract" they have 21days from the day we call to say we are ready to receive delivery. Yup! it does say that. Well, 21 days after the date of that call and just prior to them being in breach of contract, our stuff arrived. This guy Anthony shows up alone demanding $9000 before unloading. We said no way. Called spoke to Midland, finally the settled with the original final payment owed of $2300. Somehow, Anthony then got a local guy to help him unload the truck. The FOUR of us then unloaded the truck. Several of our furniture pieces came damaged in one way or another, broken ($1000 headboard), large framed mirror ($500), scratched wooden furniture, damaged mattresses, to list a few. He took pictures of all the damage. We put in the claim on the final delivery paper work that we signed. We wanted to take a picture of the claim form off his phone but he insisted they would email it to us once they signed. Needless to say we never got the email and have not heard from them since. Well lesson learned. For what it took to get our furniture, we knew we were not going to win the fight/battle to get the reimbursement for the damages. We decided to move on with our lives, stress free of this company. read more

Worst company I've ever dealt with! They have smooth talkers to get you to book with them, and give you a very reasonable rate. As soon as you put a deposit down it's almost impossible to get them to call you back. We started out with about $7,500 estimate but had to pay more the day of loading and more still to get them to unload. Before all was said and done we had paid them $28,000!!!!! Total scam!!! Not to mention many of our belongings were broken. We've moved many times over the years and have always done it ourselves and have had very minimal damage. I haven't even completely unpacked yet and already we've discovered broken cups, a broken chair that is a heavy well made oak dining room chair. A piece of the seat is just missing! My husband's table saw had to be basically rebuilt after it had apparently been dropped on its side. Also a very old clay pot that I had packaged very securely was crushed even though I had it marked as breaka le. We're extremely disatisfied with them. From what we've been told most moving companies are about the same anymore but I can't imagine any of them being worse than Midland. read more

This is by far the worse moving company we have ever used after over a dozen moves over 50 years! Their face time estimate for size of move was under by 51% which they advise when the packers arrive. We had to agree for $7000 increase. Packing was done haphazardly. Garment boxes with no steel hanger so clothes were just placed in bottom of boxes and other items packed on top. Belongings were then stored in local warehouse and then reloaded for trip from Sarasota to Virginia two weeks later. There was much breakage and a few items missing. They couldn't find king bed legs so bed could not be set up. Two queen beds were set up improperly and mattresses fell to floor. That's how they left us for fist night. Promised call providing help the next day never came. They make it intentionally difficult to communicate. The salesman / contact is no longer available and one is passed on to customer service who will not acknowledge earlier agreements. When it comes to claims they turn you towards a third party that makes claim filing nearly impossible with their web site. At every turn they make it more difficult. Intersting and delibrit busniss maodel. We have several thousand dollars of damaged and missing property and total frustration as to how to recover. read more

I was quoted a price, promised a delivery date and the price doubled and the delivery date was pushed to the very last day it could be delivered: Three weeks from the promised date. First they contract out sub par moving companies, yet they tell you they do the entire moving process themselves. Second the movers were supposed to be at my house at 4:30 pm - well they called at 4:30 pm stating they went to the same address in a different state!! Yet no one form the parent company -Midland Van Lines - claimed to know anything about this. Third, if you call customer service most likely you will get Sandra who will refuse to answer any questions and will tell you over and over that she cannot get in touch with the truck your belongings are in. She may even hang up on you, absolutely horrible customer service. I called, emailed, texted every person I had contact information for and not one person called me back. When the truck finally came to my 88 year old parents apartment, boxes were damaged and they refused to take any responsibility. They caused my family so much stress for the month we waited for my parents shipments. I cannot stress how absolutely AWFUL this company is. In fact, do not go with ANY company who needs a deposit up front- as soon as you have given them money you are no longer their problem and your order is shipped to another company and then they change the quote and charge you more. Would give negative stars if I could. Got a quote for moving our heavy items 4 hours away. We have already done most of the moving but needed help moving the large and heavy items. When we got the quote we were told that the movers would be capable of moving 3 safes. The quote was for $4000. We paid our deposit. On the day of the move the movers were supposed to be there between 12 and 4. We drove the 4 hours to meet them, just to get there and have them call and say they couldn't make it out and that they would be there at 7 the next morning. I had to come back home that day, so my husband brought me home and then he had to make the drive back down there early the next morning so that he could meet the movers. The movers did not show up until 10. After they loaded the truck, they told my husband that it would be an additional $4000 because the items took up more space than they had thought. (even though we gave them exact measurements during the consult.) Then they told my husband that he had to pay half of it that day! This was never mentioned before and was not in the original contract. Furthermore; they told him it had to be postal cashiers checks or cash. Since it was a holiday, my husband had no way of getting either of those. After going back and forth with the movers my husband finally told them to just unload our stuff. Suddenly they were able to finish the move without half the money. 4 days later they show up (hours late again) to deliver our stuff. As soon as the driver got out of the truck he told my husband that he needed to talk to him alone. Well, alone means with me, so I walked over too. The driver was telling my husband that he didn't do the math correctly and we owe him another $200!!! I told him no. Every time we talk to them, they need more money and we are not going to pay any more. The man looked at my husband and asked him to please help him out on it or he would have to pay it himself. I told him he could pay it because it was his issue. He then told us that if we left 4 online reviews, he could give us a $50 credit for each one, to "take care" of the $200. I told him I wasn't leaving a review until my stuff was unloaded, and then I would be happy to leave an honest review. So, don't believe any of the good reviews, because they pay for them. Told me pickup was Sunday morning, called me Saturday morning asking where I was (out of state). They communicated wrong. Said my delivery would be Sunday, then Monday, then Tuesday and so on. Didn't get our items for a week. No one would tell us where our truck was or why it was delayed. When the truck arrived, it had 2 other moves in it that the driver wasn't aware of. Waited 2 hrs for him to unload other peoples items before he would start on mine. ALSO payment is a joke. Told us Zelle was accepted, then claimed they wouldn't unload our items til the Zelle payment was cleared which typically takes 24 hrs when paying a new person. CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS. Hung up on me several times just trying to get answers. ONE delivery driver came to unload, smelled of weed, and constantly hit on me in front of my husband and dad. THEY DONT OWN THEIR OWN TRUCKS! The movers were terrific last night - doing a great job loading the truck with our set/props/costumes. I just want to confirm the delivery time with you. I need to know by the end of today - exactly where my shipment is and when it is estimated to arrive in TO. As you know it is a set for a theatre production. We have a crew coming to the theatre on Sunday to install the set. If the set isn't there it will put our entire production schedule in jeopardy. The lovely people who work in the office can not get me any helpful information at all - and we need information to help minimize the disaster that is about to befall our theatre company if this shipment doesn't get to its destination on time. WHOEVER IS READING THESE EMAILS I NEED A RESPONSE!!!! Questions I would like answered: A - when did the shipment leave Vancouver? B - where is it right now C - why is it delayed D - what is the best and worst case scenario for delivery. Again - this shipment contains the set, props and costumes for our entire show. In order for the show to be ready for an audience on Thursday evening we need the set at the theatre as soon as possible. It takes a full day to put the set together, a full day to focus the lights once it is installed and a day to work with the actors/technicians/musicians that are involved. Not getting this set on time f**ks our company completely. I'm sure we can sort out a plan to deal with this but not without adequate information. If the set arrives on Sunday as planned - great If the set arrives on Monday - a delay we can deal with If the set arrives on Tuesday - we start having to deal with costs of overtime for technicians/cast/crew in order to have the show ready If the set arrives on Wednesday - it is a major set back - barely doable If the set arrives on Thursday - we keep our fingers crossed that by some miracle we can pull the show together on time. If the set arrives on Friday - it's useless to us - costing us tens of thousands of dollars in lost revenue and payouts for services we no longer need. I need someone at Midland to go to get on the phone - call me - call the shippers - call the train company - call everyone they can possibly imagine until we have the answers to these questions and I need it to be done NOW. The longer we have to wait for answers the more screwed we are. Be a good person - help us out. We have people getting on planes tomorrow morning to begin work on this show. I have used Midland Vanlines for several moves and it's always been a great experience. Moving is never fun but Midland Vanlines makes it bearable! I have also used their storage facility for several years and my belongings were always secure, well maintained and cared for. They are always super courteous on the phone and always quick to call me back and answer any questions. In case I'll need to do another move I'd hire Midland Vanlines again in a heartbeat! Do not deal with this company. In my experience they are not only unreliable but unethical. I hired Midland to handle my move from Ottawa to Calgary. When I first spoke with Mark I told him exactly what I had and he quoted me around $790 for the move and five weeks storage. I gave him my credit card number and gave him permission to charge me a $100 deposit. They told me that they would call me the day before the move to confirm the details. The day before my move, they never called, so around 4pm I called them. They told me that there had been a "mechanical malfunction" and they couldn't pick up my things. So I guess they just wouldn't have shown up if I hadn't called? I was leaving town the next day so I had to rebook for a date after I had already left the province. I had to arrange for my friend to give them the keys, etc. They were 5 (!) hours late picking the keys up from my friend, who was waiting at his apartment for them all morning. I had asked them to return the keys to my friend once they were done. Instead of doing that they took them back with them to their office in Toronto! My apartment was in Ottawa. They never even bothered to tell me this. Once again, I had to find out from my friend, who stayed home all afternoon (in addition to the morning) waiting for them, that they never showed up to return the keys. I called them (as always) and asked them to mail me the keys at my new home in Calgary. They said they would check on whether or not they could do that and get back to me. They never did. I called them back again and they said they'd call me back with an answer. Again, no call. I called a third time about this and they told me that they'd mailed the keys to their office in Calgary, not to my house here, as requested. So I had to get my brother, who has a car, to drive way out to their office here to pick them up, taking an hour and a half out of his day. The worst thing, however, is the fact that like many other customers that have posted reviews (see homestars.com), I was seriously underquoted. Although Mark quoted me around $790, I ended up getting charged $1,863! There were so many issues with these charges: 1) I did not give Midland permission to charge my credit card for the total cost of the move, just the deposit. I just looked at my credit card statement a week or two after the move one day and saw that they'd done this. 2) I never received a bill or receipt of any kind. They are required by law to give me a receipt. I was also never informed how much I was going to be charged. 3) I told Mark exactly what items I would be moving prior to being quoted. I have a one bedroom apartment with very little furniture, It doesn't make sense that the charges would end up being over 100% more than I was quoted. There were no surprises, I told Mark exactly what I had. 4) As far as I can tell, my deposit was not applied to my total bill, so Midland just charged me $100 for no reason and I paid a total of $1,963, $1,200 more than I was quoted. When I called to ask about the charges the woman told me that they overcharged me by $300 and promised me a refund. It has been a month and a half and I have had to call them at least 10 times about this particular issue. The same woman at Midland has given me FOUR different excuses as to why they haven't refunded me. To date I have not received it. After over a month of being given the runaround and not receiving my refund I called and spoke with the woman who always picks up the phone there. I told her I was upset and frustrated with the way that things had been handled and asked why she never returned my calls when she promised to do so. She said she "must have forgotten" to return my calls (we're talking about approximately 20 calls here). I asked to speak with a manager. I was told I could speak with "Typhoon" and was transferred to his line. I left a voicemail. Like every voicemail I have left with Midland, my call was never returned. I am honestly thinking of contacting the police to see what they can do so that I can get my $300 overcharge and $100 deposit back. I haven't had my stuff delivered yet, I will on August 1st, but I am terrified that much of it will be broken or damaged, or missing altogether. I considered posting this review after it was delivered but I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I have been dealing with. I tried over the course of a month and a half to resolve things between them and I but every time I contacted them they misled me, didn't return my call, or promised to do things that they never ended up doing. read more

This is the most dishonest company I've ever encountered. They switch out trailers and re load them. Losing your items, over charging, withholding your belongings and not answering your calls are just a few of their traits. Billing you $17000 is another. Don't like their demands? DO NOT USE MIDLAND VAN LINES!!!!! Spoke with Mark about moving from Montreal to Toronto and was assured he would give us the best price and there was no need to call anywhere else. After comparing and matching our quotes, he arranged a pick up time between 3pm-6pm. With no communication during the day, the movers didnt show up until 11pm!!!!! Against our condo policy we agreed to move quietly because both my partner and I took time off of work for this move and changing the day was not an option. For the Cherry on top...5 minutes into discussing how we would proceed, the movers decided there was not enough room in the truck so we ended up back at square one. We called Mark in the morning to figure out an alternative solution and there was no real attempt to meet our requirements as we had originally agreed. Thank You Midland Van Lines! read more

Do not use this company! they sounded amazing on the phone, they were even less expensive than the competition, by alot! We moved from Ontario to BC. The guarenteed it would leave on June 25, 2014 after being picked up on June 13, 2014. It was even in writting that it would arrive between July 1-5, 2014. But July 5 came and we hadn't even recieved a call from anybody (in fact they never called me after giving me a quote and selling me their company, I had to call them everytime, despite their claims of step by step customer service). We called figuring it was delayed somewhere along route, no big deal it happens... only to be told that our shippment hadn't even left yet! and because it was the weekend, there was nothing they could do. I called monday july 7, 2014 (today) the manager continues to dodge my calls, we rented an apartment thinking we would be living in it, we have nothing! They claim it will go out on july 10, 2014 but keep putting off guarenteeing it until "tomorrow". My agent was Sophia, and the Manager is Mathew Taylor. I never write these reviews but, its hard enough to pick up your whole life and move, imagine how hard it is to get there and have nothing, and not know when or if you will see your family rocking chair, one that rocked 6 generations of your family, or your bed or your antique jewelery.... its heart breaking. I just want my stuff and some compensation for not having it on time, i dont think that is unreasonable, especially when you pay as much as we did to ship it. Very poor communication, specially after pickup. Not reliable neither trustable, charged my credit card without authorization. Mark, the sale agent, will be hiding after pickup. Charge as much as double as their estimate. Never do any business with them. read more

i recently moved from Winnipeg to Toronto and i used midland for my move. it was a difficult time for us to move very fast and unexpectedly. the staff at Midland made our life so much easier by being right at our need, they were also very quick on the response to our questions. over all we had an excellent experience with the whole company. if we do end up moving again, which im hoping not to i will definitely hire them again read more

Midland did an excellent job. My wife and I could not be more satisfied. This was a short move from Toronto to Ottawa. We needed someone to move our house hold items to Ottawa in a short time period and with next to no notice. The guys that came to the house were very kind and respectful. Mark was the sales representative and was very detailed and accurate in describing the services that would be provided. (We had obtained quotes from three different movers.) He was also very good about getting back to us when we had questions. Midland was the only vendor to give us a "price match guarantee" and it was still very competitive. The moving guys were so efficient packing the truck and unloading. They wrapped everything carefully, loaded it gently, and unloaded our belongs into the desired rooms in Ottawa. We highly recommend Midland Van Lines. They actually made it a pleasurable experience hard to imagine (for a move), but true. read more
