I wish I could say this Walgreens in Passaic just had a bad day, but after multiple experiences it…read morefeels more like a business model built around doing the absolute minimum possible. Recently I needed a prescription filled before traveling overseas. The insurance approval only required three simple things: the date I leave, when I return, and confirmation that the travel is international. Instead of calling the insurance company like a pharmacy normally would, they canceled the order and told me to call the insurance myself. So apparently customers are now expected to do the pharmacy's administrative work. That is some next-level laziness. This is not the first issue either. In the past they claimed they gave me a 90-day supply of 800mg ibuprofen. Anyone who has ever seen those horse tablets knows a 30-day supply barely fits in the skinny bottle they gave me. I brought the bottle back and asked them to explain the math. Suddenly they kept the bottle and quietly gave me the correct medication. Interesting how that works. Another past problem is electronic prescriptions. My doctor sends them directly, but Walgreens still refuses to fill them until I confirm first. Why? Because corporate apparently tracks how many prescriptions get filled but never picked up, and the employees get dinged for it. That might be Walgreens' internal problem, but it should not be dumped on the customer. Maybe I am old school, but when I get a job to do I just do the job. I do it right so nobody has to come back and question it later. Somewhere along the way that basic pride in doing the work seems to have disappeared. If Walgreens wants customers to do half the job for them, maybe they should start handing out employee badges with the prescriptions.
