Professional service, but two major safety oversights…read more I have mixed feelings about my recent experience at Purdy Hyundai. I brought my 2024 Hyundai Elantra in for a 30,000-mile service (costing $1,100), but what followed was an incredibly stressful and dangerous afternoon. The Issues: Engine Failure: After leaving, my car blew a cloud of black smoke and lost power while entering the freeway in heavy semi-truck traffic. I had to limp back to the dealership with the engine shaking. It turns out a step was missed during the fuel line cleaning, leaving non-fuel residue in the lines. Undercarriage Failure: After the first "fix," I headed home again. 40 minutes into my drive, the front undercarriage cover fell halfway off and began dragging. I was stranded on a rural stretch of the freeway, 40 minutes from the dealership. The Recovery: Despite these major mechanical oversights, the staff at Purdy Hyundai were exceptionally kind and professional. When I called from the side of the road--exhausted and frustrated--they were apologetic and immediately offered a loaner and a tow. While they didn't have staff available to drive to my rural location that evening, they coordinated through Hyundai AAA to get me off the road quickly. The next morning, they replaced the damaged panel and personally drove my car out to my home (almost an hour away) to deliver it to me. Verdict: The technicians clearly made some significant errors that put me in a dangerous situation. However, the management and service advisors handled the aftermath with grace and high-level accountability. They made it right, even though the experience was a nightmare. I appreciate their kindness, but I hope their service department implements better quality control checks in the future. I thought about giving a star rating of 3, but chose 4 instead because I've taken my car here for all service needs since I bought it, and have had nothing but positive experiences. I also chose to give a score of 4 stars because of the professionalism and accountability from all staff members who helped me. My car is doing much better now, as am I.

I put $1,000 down, and made biweekly payments if $320. In March of 2026 I had to file bankruptcy. I had indicated that I wanted to reaffirm the car note, and continue making the payments on it. I was, at no time, behind on the payments. (All but one were paid early) I went in to make a payment on Friday (April 10th), and found I could NOT make the payment because the finance company had "locked" my account. At the direction of the sales manager of the dealer, I called in to the finance company only to be told to call my attorney. The following Wednesday (April 15th), I came out of a business I was doing computer work for to find my vehicle was missing. I called the police, thinking it had been stolen. Turns out, it had been repossessed by ECA/AAF and they refused to let me reaffirm the loan. My attorney verified he'd not received any paperwork for reaffirming the note, and they wouldn't provide such. I've now lost over $12,000 between payments, upgrades to the vehicle, and Tag, Title, and License on a vehicle they are going to resell for probably $28,000-$30,000. (As of this writing, they are selling the same make and model at $30,000) This should be illegal. Very shady business practice to treat a customer who was NEVER late on his payments that way. Do not buy from them.

Express Credit Auto and the PassTime 24/7 service line both told me that there was an issue with the PassTime device. When I brought the vehicle in to be inspected, I was turned away and told, "It's fixed now." However, shortly afterward, I became stranded because the vehicle would not start. I then had the vehicle towed to the warranty department. I was told that the problem was the battery. Before this, I had already taken the vehicle to a mechanic who attempted to jump-start it, but the vehicle still would not start. The mechanic noticed that the vehicle had a PassTime device installed and told me that he did not believe the battery was the problem. He indicated that the issue appeared to be related to a short or electrical problem involving the PassTime device and did not want to work on it. My concern is that I have continued making my payments on this vehicle for the past three years, and I should not be left stranded or have my vehicle rendered unable to start because of a malfunctioning payment-monitoring device. I have already brought the issue to Express Credit Auto's attention and was told it was fixed, but the problem continued. I have reached out to everyone involved and asked for help with this issue, but I have been turned away every time. The warranty department even told me that because I have been making payments on my vehicle for three years, it is technically not considered a warranty issue and that I am not a priority to have my car fixed.

My wife and I decided to go here and it was a mistake. We were desperately in need of a car and…read morethey gave us one for $500. This was the biggest mistake we have ever made. Within 6 hours of getting this car the transmission went out. They took it to the shop to fix it almost a week ago and they have done nothing for us. First they tell us it should be done on Thursday or Friday. Now when the day comes they say maybe it will be Tuesday. Oh and that if our first payment comes around before it's fixed we will have to make our payment before we can get the car. Obviously this was upsetting since we have spent around $100 for Ubers and rides to work so my wife talked to the manager(apparently also their "hr" as well). This was even more useless because he had the fucking nerve to say "I swear this is causing probably not as much stress as it is to you, but it's a lot of stress on me to" like he has any idea what we are going through. We are both about to lose our jobs because we can't get the car we paid for or some kind of assistance for giving us a worthless car. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Terrible service, terrible people, terrible cars. Update: So before we finally got the car the "HR Rep", Chance, tried you tell us that he was going to give us money out of his personal bank account but because I made this review he has changed his mind. We finally got the death trap of a car back tho. It does randomly while driving. They tried to say the battery was loose but luckily we had a friend that knew cars better than we did because there was so much more wrong. He went in with my wife and it was insane how rude Chance was. He constantly tries to brush off my wife like she doesn't matter but our friend made sure it wouldn't happen. He made it a point to question Chance about the situation and Chance is saying he can't give us a new car, can't give us our money back, and can't help us with the situation. Chance and our friend both said that the car is unsafe to drive but Chance still said that we can take the car and bring it back in 2 days to get put in the shop(again with no compensation). This is just a crazy endeavor and it's beyond me how someone can be so ignorant and disrespectful. I will forever stand by my statement of "Terrible service, terrible people, terrible cars."
