We needed some branches trimmed away from our roofline and to open up a bit more light in the yard. Not a complicated job but our house and driveway configuration made it more challenging. Middlesex's quote was less than half of a competitor, and they don't charge a fee to come out just to give a quote like another company in the area. They did a good job and got down our super narrow driveway. Communication was a little difficult but not horrible - all the companies are like that, I think, because they try to squeeze as many jobs into a day as they can. For a quote that is less than half the next company, I was fine with being flexible with the schedule. My neighbor directly behind my property hired Middlesex Tree to trim and remove branches on his property. The branches noted on the estimate are trees located on my property. Before the engagement, my neighbor and I discussed and agreed to the trimming and the removal of branches overhanging on his property and that no trees would be trimmed or removed on my property. Middlesex Tree trespassed and removed 4 trees on my property with total disregard to my neighbor's instructions and no consultation from me. I confronted the employees of Middlesex Tree just after they cut the 4 trees down. They stated the trees were removed to make it more "ecstatic" for my neighbor. When I contacted the owner of Middlesex Tree, he told me that my neighbor permitted him to remove trees located on my property. His boilerplate contract specified he had the right to remove these trees and I assume trespass. Essentially, he could cut any trees he needed to without my permission because the contract indicated so. He offered no apology or remedy and stated I needed to take it up with my neighbor. With no further discussion, he deferred blame to my neighbor and ended the conversation by hanging up. My neighbor reiterated he did not give Middlesex Tree permission to trespass on my property and remove these trees. The estimate clearly stated and showed (diagram) that only branches overhanging on my neighbor's property were to be trimmed (my neighbor shared the estimate with me). In the pictures attached, it is clear the trees removed are located on my property and are not even close to my neighbor's fence. I now must pursue this matter by hiring a lawyer. read more

They came out to cut down a tree in between our house and our neighbors about 3 weeks ago. Once we finally got a quote, it took them about 2 months to come chop the tree down. Which was a problem because we literally had a huge branch fall in the driveway and good thing there were no cars in the driveway at the time. They came and cut all the branches off but we are still waiting for them to come cut down the rest of the tree. And when they did come we had to move the cars in the driveway obviously and the guy in charge said oh just park them on your front lawn. Never again. read more

I'm just getting around to reviewing some work they did for me about a year maybe two ago. The company did great work. I would recommend them wholeheartedly. I called them about removing several large trees in my yard. At the time, they said they were busy but would do the work as soon as they were able and gave a fair price. The owner called me a couple of weeks later and said they could do it Monday, which was either Columbus or Veterans day holiday. They were some large trees, close to the house and power lines. I was away at the time but told them to get the Job done. When I got home, the trees were gone the yard was cleaned up and nothing was damaged. Chris the owner was ignorant and arrogant. I allowed this company to use my driveway to remove trees from my next door neighbors yard and was not told they were putting a 50ft Crain in my yard. I came home on a Friday night and was told by Chris my driveway was caved in, as he was yelling at his crew. When I asked Chris on how we will solve this he told me my driveway is not a real driveway and will give me $500.00! I did not settle for this seeing how I got an estimate of $2,500.00 to repair the damage his crew did. My husband has gone back and forth with Chris a few times through instant message about the damage but he has not responded since we told him about the estimate we got. I did not have the opportunity to work with Middlesex tree as they gave a reasonable quote and promised the work would be done in 2 weeks. The work was not completed so 2 emails and 2 phone calls and almost a month later I was able to get in touch with. They said the quote was incorrect and they needed to re-quote. The new quote was $500 more than the original quote. Overall we felt misled and how the whole situation was handled was very unprofessional. We ended up going with another company whose quoted us the same as Middlesex's first quote and responded to our calls quickly and professionally. read more

Where to start. Micro burst Saturday nite pulled out a 54 yr old tree & dropped it on another tree on the side of our house. Both ended up on our roof. Called Middlesex tree, spoke with Chris who came out rite away. After going around the back & looking at things from that angle he gave us all the possibilities, gave us written estimate for the insurance co. & told us he could start as soon as our agent gave us the ok. Agent ok'd the estimate(properly made out) at 8:45am. 20 mins later a man arrived to put out cones & 15 mins after that the crew arrived. Trucks everywhere, as they set up. It was a horrible place to get into & after a couple of options they got started. And then this ginormous crane arrived. They removed 3 sections of our front fence & backed their bucket truck between the house & the tree. Long story short...amazing, amazing, amazing team work. Lifted large sections of limbs up 100 ft over a house & wires, lowered them down between 2 trees INTO the chipper. Later lengths of trunks of 3 trees the same way into the back of a dump truck. They cleaned up my yard front & back, the neighbors, the street & sidewalks. They blew all the rubble off my ROOF. Should be more stars. Best show of teamwork I've seen. read more

Thanks to the winter moths and their annual poop storm every June, I decided to remove some large branches over my deck and yard. I got three estimates to trim five 5 to 6-inch diameter branches from my neighbors sugar maple. One estimate was unreasonable, and the other two were fair, but Middlesex had a bucket truck and the other was going to climb and use ropes to lower the branches. I preferred a bucket truck and so I went with Middlesex. Other than scheduling a date to do the work - the owner texted me at 9:30 PM asking if it was OK to do the job the next day - they did very good work. They quickly provided proof of insurance, they trimmed the branches we agreed upon, they took precautions to prevent damage to my property, and they cleaned up very well. The branches were cut the correct distance from the trunk so the tree could heal properly. All in all, a great job at a fair price. I recommend them. read more
