- 2 stars. My new brakes installed by this place squeak all the time. Unforgivable. Probably used cheap shoes/pads. God, I hate when auto places use cheap crap on your car. **** UPDATE 11/22/2010: I brought my car in this weekend and asked about the brakes that squeal all the time. The guy at the counter said they "probably need to be re-lubed" or something. HUH? Brand spanking new brakes need to be "lubed" - again!? He said I had to make an appointment to have it looked at. I'm bringing it in soon. I'll let you know how I make out... To be continued! ***** UPDATE 11/30/2010: After making an appointment (?), they looked at my car and fixed the squeaking.... in the REAR BRAKES ONLY. After waiting an hour and being given a flimsy excuse as to why they didn't do the job right the first time, I find a week later that yes, the rear brakes no longer squeak but the FRONT ONES DO. My son brought his car to see if they could put on brake pads (that he already bought and brought with him) and they charged him $180!!! I am so pissed that they seen that he was inexperienced and completely took advantage of him What a complete rip off! I will never ever go to Midas again. They are scammers. I made an appt. for 1pm to get an oil change and a tire rotation. They didn't finish my car until 2:05. After I drove my car back to work I noticed that they had not rotated the tires. I called them and they told me that MA law doesn't allow tire rotations if the tread depth is 2 degrees lower or more on the tires being rotated. Well, i had a coupon for a free tire rotation. They never mentioned anything to me about this when I was at the Midas, nor did they give me back my coupon for a free tire rotation. Very bad customer service and I will never return to this unprofessional place. read more

This is the second time I've taken my car here myself. Love the service I get. The manager is excellent and works with your financial situation so you can get your car fixed for a decent price. They show me everything that's wrong first, answer all questions and then fix your car if you decide to have it fixed there. My father started taking my car here years ago while I worked. I have a 2006 Subaru Forester that will be 11 years old in a month. It's in excellent condition because it's been serviced at this Midas in Stoneham. I will not take my car anywhere else. They do everything including inspection stickers and give you a report on your car with suggestions on what should be looked at the next time you come in. Chairs are ergonomic as well as free coffee, hot cocoa, and soda. There's cable so you can watch whatever you want too. I say come into this Midas and give it a try. They are really polite and very easy to talk to. The manager works the front desk too. They are also very polite, and courteous on the phone. One you come here, you will return. read more

I stopped in because my Drivers side front wheel was making a screeching sound which I new was the sound of my brake pad indicator. After the free inspection, they told me my calipers were all frozen, I needed new pads, and new rotors and it would only be about $570. I walked out and went to a local shop in Melrose, They told me none of the calipers were frozen but two needed more lubrication and the Rotors needed to be resurfaced. Total brake job cost was $315. So I've dropped their rating from 4 stars to 3. During my last visit for an oil change they forgot to rotate my tires. My receipt proved that I requested a rotation but it also proved that I never received one. The manager Mike wasn't there when I went back. Some older guy with a funny accent was there. He tried to tell me that they don't rotate tires cause it will make the car wobble while driving. I felt I had to argue with him and tell him, dude, just rotate my tires! if the tires are balanced correctly the car is not gonna shimmy, shake, and wobble. Next time Just admit you guys forgot, say sorry, and we can move in life. read more

I used to service my car at the dealer only. I came to Midas a few years ago when my car flunked inspection due to a muffler issue. The repair was done that same day I walked in, for a reasonable price. I was shown what was done to my car, and charged a fair price. I went to the dealer one time after that-and they commented on what a good muffler job was done. Funny, since they wanted to charge me more than double, and scoffed when I said I would go to Midas. That was it! After that, it has been Midas in Stoneham for each and every service. Everyone is wonderful, ESPECIALLY Larry! He takes the time to show me what work is needed, and unlike the dealer, he does not push me to make unnecessary repairs. It is refreshing to be treated so fairly and kindly! I even bought my tires from this Midas. The price and service was better than Sullivan Tire, where I bought the prior set. My car has been running well since I began servicing it here, and I know that Larry will be there and help me if any issues arise! Totally recommend this Midas!! read more

They gave me a wrong diagnosis charging me $900.00 for a complete tune up as they said. After denying service I brought my vehicle to another mechanic who charged me $250.00 replacing one defective part. Don't go there!!! read more

Today was the last time I will ever go to Midas. It's sad really. I was a loyal customer getting my oil changed, only slightly annoyed that almost each time I went there was always "something" I should think about fixing/changing/etc. Today, however, I am done. Not only did they say I need new struts, (fine, yes, I'll get em') I was told one price, without the labor cost. Didn't tell me how long the wait would be. Yes, it's saturday. Yes it's busy. But I had made an appointment and heard them turn others away or tell them to come back later if they didn't have an appointment. Then, I look out through the glass windows and see EVERY staff person eating their lunch. Not splitting it into shifts where some would eat first, the others work on cars, and then switch, just as EVERY other company would do. I arrived at 11am for an oil change, left at 1:30pm with a much lighter wallet for something I'm not even sure I really needed to get done. read more
