Brought my car here shortly before Christmas for brake repairs for the fifth time in a little over a year hoping previous repair work would be guaranteed. I was frustrated but polite while rehashing the work that had already been done. Charles, the manager, explained that only portions of the 3 previously "replaced" brake lines were repaired and quoted me $1,100.00 to fix things once and for all. I was hesitant but ultimately agreed out of desperation and fear for my safety. Once I agreed, Charles gleefully executed a rockettes-style kick, followed by a fist pump and exclaimed, "YES!! I BROKE YOU!!" So if financial masochism is among your kinks, drop by and show them some love. read more

Came in for a check on my tires and they did a whole inspection on my car and I found out my brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. They upload pictures of the inspection so you can see exactly what needs to be done and how the pads and rotors look. They were able to get all this additional work done immediately and the tech as extremely fast and had everything done along with some tire rotation in two hours. Everyone was extremely nice and were very detailed in explaining what needed to be done. I would absolutely go back there again if I needed anything done. read more

Horrible service and very expensive Made an appointment at 10 to check the gas engine light read and get the oil changed. Waited an hour for them to tell us it's the evap. And then they tried to sell us a bunch of other maintenance stuff and told us to get the cap changed. Which we said ok and he said just have a seat. 20 minutes passed he said asked how much longer he said the part isn't even here and it'd take 25 minutes at most. That time went by and now he's saying another hour. this whole time THE OIL HASNT BEEN CHANGED. Like it takes 10 minutes at most.... When we voiced our frustration that they shouldn't told us the right time estimate instead of telling us bs and waste of time. They said "this is a service station we're busy. I don't want you to come here." Completely disregarding our time and the fact that we made an appointment for a reason. And oh they charged $68 for the scanner read for the check engine light. The luck of the shop being right down the road from me when my muffler pipe fell of was the only reason I came here. The prices were incredibly high but the mechanic who worked on my car was great. The man at the front desk treated me like I didn't know what I was doing. Two stars for the mechanic and one for the speed of turnaround to my being back on the road in less than two hours. I came here for an oil change and tire rotation purchased via Groupon. I made an appointment online for an oil change, and they couldn't see me for another 2.5 hours so I had to drive an hour back to work and back to Midas. This was absolutely ridiculous since I had sent an appointment for a particular time online and showed up at that time. They also asked me to apply for a Midas card, and I said yes if it is not a credit card. They guaranteed me it was not a credit card, but it was and I had to call Synchrony to cancel it. They performed an oil change but no tire rotation. Will never set foot in a Midas again with the completely incompetent employees they hire. read more

I had my Son's Truck serviced at this Midas, and I was very impressed with the customer service I received. Larry is amazing!! Very professional and caring. When I explained that this was my sons first vehicle and I wanted it to be safe for him, Larry took charge and looked over the truck very Thoroughly. I ended up servicing the AC unit and a total exhaust replacement. I was very nervous about the cost, but Larry put me at ease. They did the job for well under the estimated price and Larry even threw in some extra TLC for no charge. If you want a trustworthy mechanic, I highly recommended Larry at the Stoneham Midas on Main Street. He truly cares about his customers and will go above and beyond to make you happy. My experience was one of the nice experience (which generally we don't specially when dealing with auto guys, many time I was overcharged or lead to fixes which I never needed, anyway); My good experience sure goes to Jose, who was very welcoming and walked me well with my requirements, thanks Jose. To be quite honest the place should be shut down. Started with bad rotors they sold that made noise and had rust out of the gate. You would think the warranty would cover it cut when going in to get it fixed through midas' warranty, I was verbally abused and disrespected. It became clear the business was shady the manager even had threatened me and hung up the phone on me on several occasions. Overall I would spend a little more money for better service, both on the car and to the customer. As the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for". I would not return to midas or even recommend midas in Stoneham to my worst enemy. read more

Every time I go here, they tell me I need something I do not. Usually it is steering fluid. This time, it was steering fluid again, and the guy actually argued with me when I told him we just had it replaced. Then he told me that my a/c compressor had gone, again, even though I had it replaced two years ago. He asked if I had the receipt so I could find out if it was under warranty. I told him I thought it was done there. He told me it was not, but reviewed his records and discovered it was. Then he told me it was not under warranty, and I blew up. But when he managed to get a word in edge wise, he said it wasn't under warranty because we bought the part online and they just installed it. I said I understood, and apologized for overreacting. He went back to tell the guy to finish with the car When the car was pulled up front for me, I went back to the desk and apologized again for not waiting for a full explanation of the warranty. He said "That's okay, I am used to dealing with customers like you." He could have stopped with "That's okay" and THOUGHT that, but to all but say F*** Y*** to a customer, who had called him out for lying in the first place (which he had, twice) is completely unacceptable. This was the first shop we found after we realized we were losing tire pressure on the highway. Initially was told they were busy but would be able to look at the tire in about an hour. We went down the street to add air to the tire and realized we were losing a lot more pressure really quickly. Drove back to Midas and the staff was really concerned, knowing that we were basically stuck there. The guy behind the counter called around to see what tires were in stock nearby since I had 19" rims which they typically don't carry in shop. He was able to locate tires nearby and told us they'd be ready in a few hours. He even was kind enough to order us a complimentary Lyft to take us home while we waited and assured us he would call as soon as the new tires were installed and order us another Lyft to get back to Midas. Hopefully you don't have to ever stop here on a miserable rainy day like we did, but I will say it was a really nice touch not being stuck there in their waiting area. read more

I went in thinking I only needed an alignment, knowing I did some gnarly damage when I nailed a pot hole. Jaime took me out to the shop and explained what needed to be fixed. Although it was more money than I planned on spending, I am so thankful for Larry and Jaime. Before we went to turn in our leased car the dealer did a complete check and asked us to just have the oil changed prior to drop off so we went for the oil change The manager here kept pressuring us for needed work then he said at least the wipers but the dealer just looked the car over the day before and it was 100% fine except the oil change. This place is not good. Prices aren't bad but man they over pressurized my new tire so bad it was dangerous. Luckily I checked it the next day. They also over pressurized my friends car and two tires had bubbles at the rim on brand new tires. Unfit to drive and dangerous. Not sure why they can't do the simple thing of checking pressure on a brand new tire they installed. They're very nice but screw up twice and I cant let that slide. read more

I recently went to Midas in Stoneham to take advantage of the oil change special. $ 19.99 for ref oil and tire rotation. I asked Gary if the has 0- 20 w oil. He said this weight oil only came in synthetic. I truly believed him and paid him $ 79.99 for the service. I later called my Acura service center. They told me there is a non synthetic oil for my car and they would have done the service 39..99. I just want warn future customers that their goal at Midas is to try to upgrade you to a more costly service. read more

He did not honor any of Midas advertised discounts for their store and they charged me for diagnosis but did not explain to me their invoice for fixing it, which had a lot of unnecessary charges. Highly overpriced mechanic like most chains. You may want to get your own parts as the cost of the parts can be over 300% of a dealers cost. Just looking at the car will cost you $$ before they even start any work, cannot be applied to the additional labor. The work done was good and service was ok. I needed a timing belt replacement with a water pump replacement as well. ALL other belts were fine, just wanted to get this done. Went in to receive a price...of $1200. Are you friggin' kidding me? The guy who 'helped' me even refused to tell me WHY it was so expensive. All other places I quoted, the max was $650 which included all the belts and oil replacement (and just the belt with that guy was $350). He then proceeded to argue with me about my car, telling me I probably needed to get my CV axle replaced, which was JUST replaced 2 months ago. He said it was because there looked like there was oil all over it. I said, yes there was, because I hadn't had the undercarriage cleaned yet and I won't until May, when all the possibilities of sleet are gone but that it was mostly clean because the original dealer did it himself. The only reason it gets two stars is because the manager stepped in when the other guy was being unreasonable. Manager is nice and all, but still tried to push a $800 price tag on me for labor. Lost my son's car keys - drove away with new noise on car- had to go back next day to get that fixed -and had to fight to even get a small refund-however had to come back to even get the refund .
