Went for oil change, asked for additional charges from the $55 coupon for oil change to be approved over the phone before procedding, the $55 oil change then went up to over $100 when they added additional quarts of oil and charged for labor when the coupon doesn't include in the terms and conditions that labor wasn't included. Totally dishonest...complete frauds. Relative took their 2017 Hyundai to inspect rear brakes because of noise. This turned into a $1600+ estimate....just for rear brakes. Lied to them telling them that both calipers were seized and that one caliper was cracked. Refused the work and brought it back to my garage to inspect. No cracked caliper. Both calipers functioned properly. Just needed pads and the rotors turned. This is not just expensive chain auto shop charges. This is abusive and fraudulent. DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE!! Terry is liar and only looking to take you for every penny they can get!! Fair warning to all!! I brought my vehicle in with surging problems. They said they could fix it for $3k + i told him i couldn't spend that much money atm. So he asks me what i have to spend. Go figure he reworks it "some how" to do the same work for half the price. Absolute extortion!! So i spend the money and go to pick my truck up and the idle and surging isnt fixed and they told me i had to fix a hub berring which was $900, again obsurd!! So now all of a sudden i have no breaks and they have no idea whats wrong with my car. So they want me to drop another $1k-2k to fix it properly now. So back to the $3k+... so just all lies and bullshit to get my money. So now i have it towed and the tow truck guy says dont put any more money into your vehicle your frame is cracked!! So Midas and Terry were negligent in checking my vehicle over. So i call Terry and says i didn't see any issues. Well the frame was crumbling and part of it broke off during all this. So i send them pics and claims he will look into it!! Again a big fat lie!! So now i haven't heard from Terry or midas for 5 days now when i was told he would respond in 24 hrs... AGAIN A LIE!! I have called 3 times now and all 3 times he wasn't there. I left a message to have him call me back and nothing!! This man is not trustworthy!! He lies and will take you for every penny he can. Luckily i was only taken for $1300 it could have been a lot worse.. Nice people and the online appointment system works very very well. However, I noticed that all 19 of the reviews on the Midas website were five-star ratings. So I submitted a review on the Midas website, and surprise! My two-star review never showed up. That makes me question their integrity. The reason for my two-star rating is that I took my 2004 Toyota sienna for quote on a muffler job. The quote came back at $770 to replace the muffler and the pipe between it and the catalytic converter. That's about half of what the van is worth at this point. So I went to my own mechanic just to double-check the cost. He couldn't fix it without replacing the entire exhaust system, which would be about $1300. BUT, he recommended a muffler shop that he said could do the work for less than $770. So, I gave it a shot just to make sure I didn't overpay. Turns out I got the SAME work Midas quoted me for $340. That's a BIG difference. I won't mention the name of the shop in my review so no one thinks I'm trolling Midas. I actually hope Midas takes a hard look at its business practices, both from a pricing standpoint and from an integrity standpoint. It's their prerogative to only show five-star ratings on their site, but terribly misleading as well. read more

Do NOT trust the Midas on Michigan street with your car. These mechanics are either lazy or are not properly trained. I took my car in for a simple oil change and to switch out the brake pads on my car. I told them from the very beginning that I was only looking to get my oil and brake pads changed out. First, the manager tried to charge me to replace my rotors without telling me what exactly was being done, just telling me that my brakes were going to be changed. I had to specifically ask why the price was so high before being told what was being done to my car. Usually, you go to Midas and you sign a slip approving specific work to be done on your car. This was not done, probably to conceal the fact that they were trying to replace my rotors for an additional 200 dollars. However, that is not the worst of it. The mechanics at this store cannot even perform a simple oil change without causing your vehicle damage. I explained to the staff that I was about to drive my vehicle across the country and needed an oil change. After driving across the country I took my vehicle into a different garage because I now had a substantial oil leak. The new garage informed me that whoever had performed the previous oil change had destroyed the threading on either the drain plug or the pan itself, indicating that they had crossthreaded the plug and then driven the plug in hard anyway. This caused a massive oil leak that I now have to spend money to repair. I'm lucky that my car wasn't destroyed on my way to Florida. I have a 2017 Nissan Altima. I went to this place because my TPMS(Tire Pressure Monitoring System)light on my dashboard came on for my left rear tire. They checked it and said it was bad and it would cost $170 to replace and repair? I wanted a second opinion... BUT....I drive off from this place and the right rear sensor light came on????I went to Gurley Nissan ... They advised nothing was wrong with the sensor but the tire needed balancing. and it was the tire not the sensor. I'm BEYOND PISSED because they TRIED to beat me out of my HARD EARNED money. FUCK THIS PLACE... I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THEM OR REFER ANYONE TO THEM!!! I believe because of the part of town they are in... I'm probably not the first or last person they have LIED to about unnecessary and costly repairs!! They need to be investigated!! read more

never take any car here. midas on south michigan street stole the tires off my car. went to midas they "found" a rear axle issue. after 2 months and 3 axles later they finally got it to stop leaking. went to belle tire to get tire leak fixed and belle tire said we needed new tires. all 4 tires bald. i told belle tire to look up when we purchased tires from belle tire. he told us january 2022. 4 goodyears hardly one year old. belle tire said that we have 4 kumho tires on the vehicle now. called manager at midas ,(DW), and he put me on hold for 5 minutes and came back on phone and said he looked at all the video tapes and no one stole our tires. i then asked how he can look at vidoe tape for 6 visits over a 2 month period in just 5 minutes? then asked me if i wanted to come to midas garage and look for my tires. at this point the lies told me the whole garage is in on it. he just kept denying anyone stole the tires. now we had to buy new tires and we are out 700 more dollars. i now question if the axle was even fixed. read more

Took my car here for an oil change and brakes. They claimed I needed the Rotors, pads, and calipers replaced. okay. 26k miles later, I take my car into Zolmans just down the road as my brakes were acting funny. Pads and Calipers are in good shape. But the Rotors the fine folks at Midas installed were warped! Who installs warped brake rotors? Avoid this place like the plague. read more

After reading some other reviews, I was hesitant to take my car here. However, being only a block away from my work, I took the chance. And the service was AMAZING. I needed a headlight changed, and it was done in just over an hour (when another shop claimed it was an all-day procedure since they needed to remove the bumper, and they didn't have time for it for another week). The workers at Midas were even willing to use the headlight I brought in, to cut on costs. And they greatly cut down the labor cost they originally quoted because they were able to figure it out quicker than anticipated. I'm very satisfied and will be back with any other auto issues I might face. Thank you all!! read more

Very helpful folks at this location. I came in with a tire that kept losing air. They found a screw lodged in it, explained that they couldn't patch the damage because of where it was located, and then sent me to where I had originally purchased my tires to see if they were covered by warranty. Do not ever go to the Midas on Michigan Street in south bend, indiana..my truck started to overheat right by their shop so I pulled in and asked them to look at it, then they came out with an estimate of 1436 for a thermostat and a radiator so I was shocked at the price but I needed it done so not even a week later I was already having some issues and another mechanic friend looked at it and told me that the work they did was way overpriced and they damaged some things while they supposedly fixed my truck.....so they damaged my fan clutch and fan speed sensor bu using an air hammer which should have never been used and left my fan speed sensor wires dangling on my serpentine belt plus they zip tied my radiator in which it went in with hardware but came out with a zip tied radiator, so I called them and spoke with Terry and Dw and I was told to bring my truck in for them to look at it which I did but they used every excuse in the book that it wasn't their fault and they finally Terry said to bring my truck back on Friday and they will replace the fan clutch and the fan speed sensor that they damaged from putting my radiator in. So I get there Friday and Terry said there was an issue that his boss overrid his decision and that I would have to pay half of their screw up which was gonna be 415 dollars on top of the 1400 I had already paid and I turned around and walked out and called my husband and he wanted to talk to Terry so they were talking and Terry whom is a manager just puts the phone down and so I walked out......called corporate and made a complaint, they said they would get it resolved in 3 days and of course nothing got resolved.. and then today I was driving my husband to work and all the sudden my truck starts to overheat and I had to pull over and now there's more damage to my vehicle because of midas not fixing their mistakes and now there's more that needs done and I called and spoke with Robert who says to me well you need to talk to DW but unfortunately he's on a conference call and he would call me back. But of course no phone call..... so my truck is more damaged now and it all could have been prevented if Midas would have fixed their screw up...... I'm not just gonna let this happen and I hope they will fix my truck and the damages they caused by not fixing it right the 1st time..... and if they won't then no worries they will be hearing from a corporate lawyer read more

Never again will I take a vehicle to them or recommend them to anyone!!! One of my fuel tank straps broke on my 2011 F150 I found out it had broken cause I got fuel and it was leaking on the ground. So I called them and told them I needed them to replace the straps and put the fuel inlet hose back on. I had already bought the straps and was going to do it myself but couldn't get one of the bolts out, they quoted me $400.... expensive bit I needed my vehicle it's the only one I have so I took it in it was supposed to be done that afternoon it wasn't done till late afternoon the next day and now barely 3 weeks later my check fuel inlet warning light is on and I put 20 dollars worth of fuel on the ground I call and they say that all they fixed was the fuel tank straps that they never even dropped the tank and then hung up on me so I call back and ask them to explain why it would just stop leaking if they didn't fix the hose and was hung up on again extremely rude and liars because the phone calls back and forth for the 2 days they had my truck it was repeated several times what they were fixing was the straps and fuel inlet hose and then gave me a "discount" of 50 dollars for the inconvenience of not having my truck for 2 days. I was very impressed with this Midas location. I went in with some significant brake issues and they were able to diagnose and fix the issue while I waited. Their free wi-fi and comfy chairs made the wait productive. I told my brother what had done on my car and I paid half what he guessed (he had the same issue on his car previously). Midas's are franchise owned, so this may not be true across the board, but I was very satisfied with this location and would recommend to anyone. read more

This review is for the Midas location in Granger, IN just off Main Street next door to the Menards location. Avoid this shop at ALL costs! During a thunderstorm a couple days ago, I drove though to standing water and hit a hidden pothole, snapping the left front lower control arm. It's a repair I would've normally done myself (I've been restoring and collecting Mercedes since high school) but I was away from home and didn't have my tools so I took it to Midas. After having to pay almost $1400 in advance for the control arm repair (a ridiculous price since the part itself can be obtained for around $150 and only takes a couple hours to replace) I was told the car would be completed the following afternoon. Of course, I didn't get a call from them so I called myself and was told the car would cost an additional $500 because the coil spring also needed to be replaced. I was told there's an additional labor charge despite the fact that the coil spring will all but fall off the car once the damaged lower control arm is removed anyway! Now I have a $1900 bill for around $200 worth of parts on a car that I could completely replace for $2500 or less. AND I've lost another day away from my business because the damage happened away from my home. Needless to say, not only will I not EVER pull into a Midas shop again but I'll also tell anyone within earshot to avoid them as well. $1900 for this repair is absolutely ridiculous for $200 in parts. Had I known in advance of the "profit margin" they're collecting on repairs and the time I've lost, I would've had the car towed the 150 miles back to my home where I could've gotten the parts for considerably less and done the repair myself. Even with the tow, it would've cost me around $1000 less than I'm paying to Midas. Unacceptable....but it'll never happen again. At least not with a Midas location. read more
