This is the continuation of my review on the Penn Hills Midas page. After speaking with Dale, he instructed me to go to Monroeville, where they would accept my parts (lower control arm) for installation. When I dropped off my car, the attendant quoted me a significantly higher price than what Penn Hills had quoted for the same job. I informed the attendant, and he said discuss it with Dale. I left my car to get the lower control arm installed to complete the inspection that Penn Hills refused to do with my parts. Later, I received a call from the sales team stating that I was missing bushings and they couldn't complete the job. I agreed to pick up my car. Upon retrieving it, I noticed considerably more suspension noise than before. This seems to be a recurring issue where my car returns in worse condition than when I brought it in. At this point, I decided not to return to complete the job as Dale suggested. Instead, I chose to do the work myself, as I usually would if time permitted. While working on my car, I discovered a hole in the heat shield and scratches on the new rotors I had installed myself, indicating that the damage was not from my installation. This showed me that Midas lacks integrity. A simple acknowledgment like, "My fault, the tool slipped. We'll order you a new heat shield and rotor," would have sufficed. Instead, they reassembled the car as if no damage had occurred. I immediately contacted Dale, sent pictures, and left a message. He said he would get back to me on Tuesday. We've been going to this Midas for the past 3-4 years and always had decent service. Our car was inspected in December and was brought in with a wheel problem a few weeks ago which we were told was no problem they could see. The other day there was smoke coming from a wheel well. This morning they informed us that we needed all new brake pads, calipers and rotors for a total of $1,900.00. You would THINK they would have seen something happening in December or two weeks ago when we had it in last. This business is shady... and waits for problems to compound before telling you about it. STAY AWAY from this Midas! The bad reviews are 100% correct!! read more

Was provided 3 separate verbal quotes on the cost to replace the alternator of my car - each one based upon the year/make/model of my car and all between $500-$600. I brought my vehicle in after speaking to the manager who confirmed the cost WOULD include labor. When provided the written "official" quote an hour or so later, it was double the cost. By then, my battery was completed dead which would require me to have my car towed....plus, due to the holiday weekend) I would be forced to wait until the next week to get my car fixed by another mechanic which I could not do. Sadly, I was basically forced into corner and the worst part was no apology from management. The manager told his employee to simply "top off the fluids" in a dismissive attempt to pacify me. I will NEVER return to this or another Midas and I've been a loyal customer for years. Be careful if you go here....or you may experienced something similar. read more

Mike by far has the worst customer service ever. not just bad customer service, but he speaks poorly to his coworkers and is very belittling. he comes off rude and very disrespectful. came in for an alignment fix because the other location screwed it up. 1) they couldn't find me in the system 2) the power went out and we came back next morning and i kindly requested some sort of discount considering we had to come back and he was extremely rude about it. I wasn't asking for a free service. just $5/$10 off to accommodate me for my multiple trips. will never come back. read more

What a nightmare! Car need new front breaks and whippers for state inspect and had just past Emission a week ago. We drove the call all week including the morning we took to the Midas on Rt. 51 address is 540 Clairton Blvd. The guy said I will get a text message of what the issues they find which I already knew that all I needed was front breaks, pads, and whippers. He said it will be $450+ but he called later in the day and said it will be 593+ which was ok because we elected to doing the state inspection again and not have to go to Pepboys who did the original a week ago. We wish we went back to Pepboys!!! They close at 5pm on Saturdays so when it was 4:30pm and we have not heard from them I decided to call. He said they car was done and we should come pick it up. Once we got there, his payment machine was acting up. I said I hope you are not charging me twice and he said no. Woke up this morning and off-course I see two transactions for 593+ in my bank statements!! That's not even the worst of it!!!! Once I paid, I handed the keys to my wife cuz that is her car and she went to leave and the check engine light was on. This car has NEVER EVER had a check engine light EVER! Most reliable Honda Pilot. So I went back to the guys who all 3 where watching us like a show. I asked him if he knew the Check Engine light was on and that he never mentioned that on the calls we had & that when we brought the car in there was no CEL!!! He said ok lets plug it in and why! At this point I'm already sick to my stomach! Then he came back and said something about and Oxygen sensor then the mechanic who worked on the car came back and said oh it's our Alternator!!! Which one is it??? They he said when he took it for a test drive the lights came on! No Way! Then he said if we try to drive it out of the location that the battery is only showing at 9% and that the call will just stop running on us. This whole time my wife and I are looking at each other wondering how come none of this was mentioned and they just handed the keys to drive an unsafe car!!! I said how much is it to fix and Alternator? He brought a quote for $1440+ and was laughing with his buddies the whole time!!! I knew it wasn't that much for Alternator and when I looked at the details, he was charging us twice for parts!!!! A Reman & a new Alternator! At this point I realize I needed to get my car out to there so Needed to risk it. The car was smoking by the time we got home! No one from the shop was picking up! DO NOT take your car to Midas or this location! Not if you work hard for your money! Nightmare!!! read more

I am 100% done with this location and the company as a whole!!! To make a long story short I was charged an arm and a leg for a failed inspection. Was told I need a laundry list of repairs of almost $2000 on a 7 year old car. Asked if I could call back since that was quite a bit and maybe it was time for a new car. Called them back and said I couldn't do that price and just do nothing (even the oil change I had scheduled too). Was told that they could lower the price because X, Y, and Z didn't need done to pass inspection. The new price was $700... At this point I was pissed since this wasn't told from the start. Said to still take it down, not doing anything. Was told fine, your car will be ready in an hour. Go to pick up my car and I owed $150. The prick told them to do the oil change, got charged $80 in labor, and then the inspection (figured I'd have to pay that). Asked what was this and the prick was rude and said it needed paid (his name was Michael by the way). I cannot recommend this location to anyone, nor can I for the entire company. These guys are crooks and the lowest of the low. I got my new car and I know moving forward I will not step foot in another Midas again!!! If I could give lower than 1 star I would too. read more

I've been going to Midas for years and never incurred a problem until this new manager. I had a receipt for every oil change to get the sixth free and because some of my packaged envelopes did not have a stamp he wouldn't accept them (even though he could read the receipts showing I received the service). Needless to say I got angry. How are you faulting me for the way I was checked out? I have the receipts! His explanation is that's not the way it works (Sham). In my anger I got a new envelope with 5 stamps to get the next free. I suggest that you have all your envelopes stamped regardless of having receipts because this is their way of not honoring their promotions. What happened to the customer is always right? I'll go back to another location (not Monroeville) for my free oil change and won't return thereafter. They lost a customer in me! read more

During an inspection the "inspector" has found several problems with my car, everything together was estimated to be over $1500. Took the same printout to several different shops to get a different opinion and compare it to the actual condition of my car and found out that nothing is wrong with my car. I gave the business 5 stars because I felt they've earned it. First, they treat you like you are paying for their service. The service manager keeps you informed if you have to wait for your vehicle to be serviced. They have great customer service. Second, their waiting area is neat and clean. Period. I've been bringing my car here for inspections and feel the service is done well. The price is fair and transparent. There are also available coupons online that you can use for various services. I recommend this business, but keep in mind that scheduling an appt. for your service will be helpful and will not require a long wait. If you don't have an appt. and service is slow at that time, you should be taken care of pretty quickly. read more

Was traveling back to New Jersey after dropping my daughter off for her first semester at University of Pittsburgh when I had a brake scare and my indicator light went out. I searched the nearest Midas and this location came up. The manager, Dan and his crew couldn't have been nicer. They understood my concerns about having a long drive home and wanting to be reassured I would be safe with my other daughter in the car; and being concerned about not being trade fairly on price. I did not need to be concerned about either issue. They drove the car, checked the brakes very carefully both on the lift and with driving. They also looked at the indicator light (turns out it was just loose and needed tightening). They sent me on my way home feeling safe and assured I would make it home. I am so grateful for such wonderful service and understanding. Highly recommend the folks at this Midas. read more

I was driving home from a medical appointment in Pittsburgh when a fellow driver alerted me that my back tire was really low. I barely made it to this Midas and was beyond frazzled when I arrived. After fully evaluating my rim and tire, the Store Manager assured me, to his surprise, that my tire and rim were not damaged and that the plug and patch his staff applied would be completely safe for me to drive home. The tire is still fine and I can't thank him and his staff enough for taking care of my car immediately. The whole process took less than 30 minutes. Not only is the store extremely well kept, the Manager was professional, kind and compassionate. This is a genuine store with trustworthy professionals working -- they'll take care of you!! Took my car to get an inspection. I was very impressed. Not only did they do a great job, I was in and out, and the service was equally wonderful. I scheduled an appointment for what should have been a simple inspection since it is very close to my work and I had the convenience of making an appointment online. Honestly, the online appointment ability and the close location are the only positive things about Midas. While the staff I dealt - Ron - was very nice, the pushy up-selling of unnecessary repairs/parts is beyond ridiculous. I have a 2 year old vehicle with low miles and they forced the purchase of wiper blades - yes, wiper blades - to pass inspection even though I was having no issue with my wiper blades and know how and when to replace them!!! In addition to that, charging $90 ($21 from Auto Zone) for a cracked turn signal lense plus labor costs of $25. All in all, my 2 hour appointment took 5+ hours and cost over $200. Many places take advantage of you when you are female - but from what I have read/experienced - it appears that Midas as a company is an equal opportunity rip off artist with unethical business practices. I will never return to Midas for any type of service, nor would I recommend anyone to go there for anything because you can never simply have just what you went for taken care of. Get to know your local auto mechanics and skip the national companies. They may not offer coupons or online appointments, but they also won't rip off those in their community. While I am sure the lack of my future business will in no way affect Midas because there will be more suckers (I was one too!) will be lining up for disappointment in their experience. read more

My son just had almost a thousand dollars of work done on his car. We barely made it home and there was a fire under the hood from a shop rag left behind. The oil was supposed to be changed. It's black. The coolant was to be flushed and filled. It wasn't. I have a mechanic going over it right now cause it wouldn't start cause it looks like someone put oil in the coolant. The radiator cap won't come off. Someone clamped it on. I will be returning, but not for service, for a refund. This is ridiculous. They messed my car up and caused a fire. Midas... you need to contact me and make this right. I will bring the car back, with receipt, my mechanic and gladly show the manager what we got charged for and what wasn't done. Oh. And I still have the burnt shop rag also. I did reach out to Midas corporate and have a case complaint as of 2.27.19. I was told the turn around time is 2 to 3 days. I asked for a copy of my complaint to be sent to me and was advised they can't do that. They cannot expedite my complaint either. I will update once I hear from Midas. read more

Everyone in my family takes their cars to Midas on William Penn Highway because they provide friendly, professional service. I realized I was past due for inspection, and even though they were fully booked, they managed to squeeze me in on a busy Friday. Reasonably priced too, especially if you get a coupon online or in the mail. read more

Best shop in monroeville. They're honest and courteous- I never feel like they're trying to gouge me or invent issues to drive up the cost.

If there was a ZERO the Midas shop in Monroeville, PA would get it from yours truly. Anthony, manager, Keith, tech and Eric are as shady as you can get. While taking my car in for a state inspection, I was told that I needed 4 new tires for my car. Just one week prior, I had my car in the shop for an oil change, at that time I was told that my tires, brakes and everything thing on car would past inspection, and for me to come back next week to get my car inspected. Surprise! Surprise! When I brought my car back to Midas the following week, I was told that my car had failed the state inspection and that I would need 4 new tires. In just one week from sitting in the garage, somehow the tires on my car wore out. At that time, I had Midas order me 4 new tires which later turned out to be the wrong size. Instead of Anthony, manager, reordering the tires, he tried to blame me for the tire file-up which I had nothing to do with. While I was trying to explain to Anthony about the tires not being the right ones for my vehicle. Keith, tech came out of the shop and began yelling at me, and making culturally insensitive remarks about my person. While all this was going on Anthony the manger sat quietly and did nothing. I was told to leave the shop by store manager Anthony. I left in peace after I got my money refunded for the tires. I never got my vehicle inspected or did I get the tires. Midas did not refund my money back to me for an inspection that I paid for. I brought this issue-up with Midas district manager who took my complaint and never got back with me. I have been a loyal customer of Midas for over 15 years, bad faith, culturally insensitive behavior are just some of the many reasons, why I will never step foot in another Midas for as long as I live. I hope you people who read this review feel the same way. Resist this place at all cost. Midas you can keep the $75.00, you apparently need it more than I do read more

I had new tires mounted and balanced. It was done quickly while I waited. They did a fine job as usual. The service representative was professional, polite, and friendly. You can meet some very nice people while waiting for your car. I have been using Midas for almost fifty years and this is one of their excellent franchises. read more
