Today 2/19 I went to Midas on Glen Ave for a tire malfunction light on in my car. Ken, the manager went out and checked the sensors on each tire and said they appeared to be fine. He said his technician Ken was at lunch and had a different tool he could check the sensors with if I could come back in an hour when he is back from lunch. I returned and they pulled my car in and reset the sensor at no charge. Ken the manager was very friendly and made my day. I was on my way in about 5 minutes. I'd give this business 100 stars if I could. We were in Peoria to attend the high school cross-country championships. After the race, our battery died. It took us a long time to get a tow to Midas, but the staff there was willing to work even past closing to get us on the road again. They were extremely nice about staying a bit late, too. At my latest oil change, I was told I needed $3227.54 worth of work done on my car and they could do it immediately! after talking to my son and other people, it was recommended I get a second opinion as Midas has a reputation for taking advantage of people, especially old ladies. Turns out I only needed brakes, not rotors, shocks, or numerous other things!! I strongly do not recommend the store on west Glen, Peoria. read more

Store manager took my vehicle in mid week. He said he'd try to get it in that evening (I wasn't asking for or expecting), but he said I'd definitely hear something the next day. Late in the next day when I called to see what was going on, some other person said they wouldn't even look at it until the weekend. I had to get the vehicle back, and told them that there was battery issues (the reason I brought it in). The guy on the phone says 'no problem' they can jump it. When I get there to pick it up a mechanic is at the desk to "help". He hands me the keys and I say it's going to need a jump. I got a big eye roll and a sigh. He shakes his head and says someone will be out to do it soon. Right and left hands don't know what the other is doing over there. Can't trust what anyone says. And apparently the mechanics are upset with having jobs. I wouldn't go back even to let someone air up my tires. Absolutely awful. read more

Took car in for oil change deal. They told me the inner tie rod had some play. Quoted me close to 700 on mostly labor. I thought it a bit weird because that was replaced a year ago after wreck. To be safe, I took it to the dealership. Told them story. The service guy at dealership said he was suspicious because it was replaced, the cost they quoted, but he would take a look for a fee. I paid it because I travel a lot. Nothing is wrong With tie rod on either side of car. I'm pretty sure they thought a dumb female walked in and they could scam me. read more

I have never had a more disrespectful and awful experience at a car shop. The manager, Dennis, charged me over $1000 and barely even got my car running again. He admitted that his tech only charged my battery enough to get the car out of the parking lot so they could take my money. read more

Update: I still go to Midas for regular oil changes and sometimes more. Coffee, water, tv and magazines in the front room, and vending machines with credit card accessibility. Plenty to accommodate and keep you busy while you wait for your car, far more than most do or what is required. Matt Delgadillo is the best boss man around and the entire staff is super friendly and makes you feel at home. They let you know what is wrong with your car, and even show you, so that you can choose to fix it or not, and even send you home with paper work detailing what they told you, with estimates. my favorite part. They're not pushy and they get the job done quickly. They even offer you rides home or to where you need to be if they have to keep your car to work on it! I usually do all my own work on my car, but I was in Peoria for a weekend before I had a 7 hour drive to make back home. My engine light had been on a couple weeks, but the engine started sounding much worse all of a sudden. They could take my car with fairly short notice (compared to three other 3 autoshops... Probably not a good sign), so I dropped it off first thing in the morning and waited for the diagnosis. 45 minutes later, they proceeded to tell me about my brake fluid, brake pads, and other things that I did not ask for. THEN they proceeded to diagnose the problem that I actually brought the car in for. The next day, I get the car back. They informed me a bolt was twisting so they couldn't clean that portion of my EGR airflow issue, but they cleared the code and the engine runs smoother. To be honest, I don't know what I paid $90 for. Did they actually clean it or just clear the code with some carb cleaner down the tube? I get back in the car and my steering wheel clicks as I turn it. This is new. I turn around and go back and the mechanic informs me he didn't work on that part of the car at all. I know. That's why I am concerned. I just got out of there before any more time or money is wasted. I ain't going back, either. The good news is my car did run a little smoother so I felt fine driving it back. Bad news is the check engine light is back on for the same problem 3 weeks later. In a bind and need a quick fix? Midas. Need a job done right in a straightforward manner? Anywhere else. read more

Went to Midas in Peoria on University on 1/28/21 with a $49.99 coupon for a full synthetic oil change... My vehicle takes 6.1 quarts, so I was told there would be a slight additional charge for the additional oil. The coupon states there could be an additional charge for a specialty filter, and that there could be a disposal fee and a shop supplies fee. So I was expecting a total charge with tax somewhere around $65.00. Imagine my surprise when the bill came back at $90.11. They charged me for 7 quarts of oil at $11.99 each, charged me for the oil filter at $3.99, charged me $15.60 for labor, $7.92 for shop fee, and sales tax on the entire amount. They did credit me $25.00 for the coupon, and there was another credit of $4.55 listed as oil package discount. I called the Bloomington, Il Midas location and gave them my vehicle information and asked what they would charge with the coupon, and was told with the additional oil it would be approximately $58.00 plus tax. I asked if my filter would be considered a specialty filter, and was told no...so the filter would be included in the $49.99 price. I will never use this location again and based on my experience would suggest others avoid also. read more

went there for aircon leak and bring my warranty receipts and a guy i was talking to said no charged , when im getting my car, another guy told me they have to charged me something because i put a refrigirant in a can which i already told them before they check on it. i am a regular customer of them even they charged a little more than others but i am very dissapointed, not coming back ever again. read more

Charged me $60 for an oil change that they "forgot" to do. My boyfriend said the oil still looked dirty. I brought my car back and was told it was never done. I was refunded but would have never known if it wasn't for someone else checking it. Driving the extra miles on old oil wouldn't have been good on my vehicle. read more

My assistant and I blew a tire just outside of Peoria Illinois. We were really close to a tires plus and when I called them they refused to even listen to me they just refused to even talk to me about changing the tire on my trailer. . So I called the Midas literally a block away. With exactly the same amount of space to work with they told us to carefully come on in!! They moved cars to fit us in quickly changed our tire and had us and our 7 horses back on the road in 85 degree heat!! The Midas Push. Went in for oil/oil filter change only. Told the desk, no tire rotation. I was told it would be about 45 minutes. After 1/2 hour, I walked to window and saw my car up on the hoist w/out its tires. I knew what was coming. Taken to hear recommendations on replacing pads and rotors for $351. Tire balance would be another $40. Politely declined to get my car back and out of there. Got home and found stems for tire pressure had been placed under the hubcaps where you could not get to them. Had to take off the tires to reset the hubcaps where the tire pressure stem was accessible to check tire pressure. By the way, tire pressure was 37psi on tires where the normal pressure is set at 32psi for all four. I was doing this for my daughter while she was at work. This is a dad's worst car garage scenario where a young lady could be sold hundreds of dollars of unneeded repairs. If you use this place, go with your guard up and your suspicions in high gear. read more
