I am writing to express my total dissatisfaction with the current owners/management of Midas west Olympia. The previous owner was great his manager, Josh, was beyond honest and fair. Not the case with the current owner/manager. We were definitely cheated out of $1500.00 we did not have. We took our 2014 Ford Escape in for a coolant leak. We were td by the manager, Chris, that it was some kind of turbo problem and was assured by him after the fact that it was totally repaired. Not the case at all!! We still had the same problem after their "repair". When we took it back in because it wasn't fixed, he told us there was nothing wrong with their work, even though we still had the same problem! We have since found out that there is a class action lawsuit against Ford for this very problem and they acted clueless and said how would they know that? Hello, you are in the car repair business I'm sure you get lists of problems. We were, literally, ripped off. I will never go near that shop again or recommend them to anyone. These guys are awesome! Our brakes were being super loud and we were dreading a huge expense. I was at work and filled out the online estimate form and got an email back within about 30min! They informed us about a thorough check (test drive, disassemble, etc) of our brakes for just $39. They were able to get us in right away and about an hour later, we find out the culprit was just a rock! They ended up not even charging us the $39 (which we would've happily paid). They're friendly, knowledgeable, quick and human! Brakes are important and they were able to squeeze us into their surely-full schedule the morning. We really appreciate that, it would've been horrible to get turned away for an urgent (or so we thought) brake issue. We communicated mostly with Ken and we wholeheartedly recommend this team. There was an employee outside on cell phone. I walked in and nobody working the desk. Only 3 bays occupied and no other cars outside. Waited 15 minutes nobody ever showed up in lobby and employee outside still on his cell phone. So I left and took my business elsewhere. Came in for an oil change and inspection left with over $1400 bill with $600 tires we can't afford. Told us our brakes and rotors needed replaced even though just a few months ago the Lakewood location said they were fine. When they called to talk to my husband about what they were doing he thought they said 100 something, which would make sense. We ended up paying over 1.4k. $300 for spark plugs, are you kidding me? $40 each plus labor. Great spark plugs don't cost even half of that. We only had one bad tire but they made us buy 4 and never gave us a choice of which ones. When asked about the buy 3 get 1 free they said that's only winter tires. Why do you have that promotion up in your office in the summer then? We have been a long time midas customer, but after our experience here I don't think we'll be back unless something is done. read more

What a horrible experience. My car was leaking coolant, so brought it here because it was close and because we'd done oil changes here in the past. Someone looked under the hood for literally 5 seconds and then I was given a quote for over $1,700. Called my regular shop and they laughed and said that was ridiculous. While waiting for the tow company to come get my car, they came out 3 times to try to talk me into staying. Came down to $900 and blamed it on the desk clerk being new. I declined. Came out again and said they'd need to charge me for diagnostics. I said no, they barely looked at it. When my husband came to pick me up, he was understandably upset, so he told them firmly that they'd lost a customer. They threatened to call the cops on him. Never again. read more

I have come here many times for an oil change and recently I came in and was told I needed new brake pads and rotors for about $450. I declined and did the oil change only. I brought my vehicle to another auto repair place and was informed my brakes were fine and there was 10 mm left on the brake pads. So I didn't need brake and rotors and saved about $450. I will never go back here and will be taking my vehicle to a more respectable place. Go here at your own cost because it will truly cost you more than you expect. read more

Came in for an inspection and found serious safety issues (I was in denial for a couple of months). The staff were incredible and understanding of the financial circumstances. They explained the financing options (some of which are clearly predatory, but at least allow an interest-free window to find better financing). I never felt pressured to go through with the repairs. A minor mistake on the bill was quickly corrected. I would definitely feel confident in using their services again. They do seem to have a high mark-up on parts, but from conversations that I overheard, they allow you to supply your own parts (just no guarantee let alone their lifetime gaurantee). read more

Do you like a little bit of racism to go with your maintenance? These guys won't disappoint. Maybe I misinterpreted things when my dad went there for an inspection and got told that his tires were too unsafe for the road(they probably were), therefore if he didn't purchase tires from them(for a mere $835, also $500 anywhere else), he wouldn't be getting HIS keys back unless he signed a waiver (understandable, liability and stuff) and... and... wait for the POLICE (like the real police with guns and better things to do) because, well 'that's policy, we have to call the sheriff'. If you're guessing that Midas has no such policy, you are correct. Now, I know that trying to intimidate/take advantage of my dad because of his discernible accent and age doesn't make one a racist per se, but when I overhear you mumbling the N-word through the phone after telling my dad that 'this is how things work in America', one may be led to think that being a crook is not your biggest flaw. I brought in my 2015 RAV4 on Oct. 29 to have one of my tires checked that was losing pressure every 2 days. I asked the service advisor if its repairable and was told they will check it. I then get a call that they are unable to repair the leaks and all 4 tires need to be replaced. He also told me that I would be getting the best deal possible for my vehicle. In this situation, the service advisor took it upon himself to choose the tires for my vehicle and never explained how he got them. He also asked me if I wanted to avail of in house financing which would be same as cash for 100 days and I said yes. After the work was done, thats when I realized there was a problem when I saw how much he overpriced the tires. I was never given a choice on the type of tires to be installed. Also, after filling out the financing application, that was only then he told me that there would be a $39 finance charge I had to pay. I felt at the time I had no choice except to finish the transaction bec. he would'nt release my vehicle to me. I then conduct research a read more

I had gotten a few oil changes here and each time, they have been quick and painless. But what I did realize, is that the "after summary" document that give you with all the red, yellow, and green boxes differ with each visit. It's concerning because the things they said were bad, were now good and the things they said were good were now bad. They also quoted my last repair for a valve gasket cover at $315 which I then took to my normal repair guy and received an invoice for $220. Nearly $100 cheaper. I also showed their summaries to my guy, who checked everything within my car and assured me the information they gave me was wrong and explained that a lot of times, they do that to increase their sales. Understandable but from a customer stand point, I don't like being given false information or over quoted for labor at such a high rate. I won't be back but I did appreciate the quick oil changes when I did get them; just not worth the hassle of understanding anything else they put into writing. read more

Bad Bad people. They kept me waiting for hours to tell me everything is wrong with my car and half the parts need to be changed. The water pump, some valves, some belt, heater core and what not. Why? The heater does not blow warm air. I was quoted a cost of $2,000 with the words- "I can't guarantee your heater will work even after you get all this work done. I know I need to tell you this before I start working on your car." Why do you even bother giving me the quote if you think it won't fix the problem??? On asking the guy on the counter why the cost was this high just to fix the hot air he said its an Audi, you'll obviously have to pay more. Look at that. It's a chevy. To fix the heater on that car it costs $150. I can understand Audi parts cost more and probably the labor might be a little more. But what he said was ridiculous. Moreover he quoted me a price of 900$ to for a new water pump. On Amazon its under 100$ (Bosch). They are out to rip you. Avoid it like the plague. read more

Had the bolts break at my muffler. They drilled them out and put new bolts in. But they used cheap bolts and put no gasket in place. Had to replace the bolts otherwise I would of been back in there with the same issue in no time. Talked to some mechanics I know and they said only use grade 8 bolts. The ones they used were just basic Home Depot bolts. Very disappointed and won't be going back or recommending to anyone else read more

I highly recommend finding a different repair shop. I called them requesting to get a muffler replaced on my 73 Dodge coachmen motor home. The guy on the phone was very helpful and told me to bring it over at 10 am the next morning, said it would cost about $180 bucks. When I got there the person very rudely and incorrectly to me that my appointment was actually at 8am. After I assured him that it was 10 am he said we have another appointment but I'll see if we can look at it. He then came out and told me that they wouldn't be able to do it because they didn't have the proper tools. It is a very simple job that I could do my self but didn't have the time. I was pretty amazed by the situation. If I could give less than one star I would. Off the the next shop, maybe I'll try an independent shop this time. read more

My car started making a rather mysterious noise, and knowing little to nothing about cars I took it in to Midas first thing in the morning to have some more knowledgeable folks take a look. I was greeted when I walked in at 9am by a very friendly gentleman who immediately said, "Well, let's take a look!" He wasn't condescending or rude, and very eager to help me feel more at ease about my current car dilemma. The gentleman who took my car around the block for a spin reported that he wasn't hearing the noise, but instead of making me feel like I was delusional, or just being a worrisome bother, he decided they'd put it on the lift and take a look underneath. Sure enough, my brake pads were wearing (just barely which is why he couldn't hear it) and discovered that there were some other leaks and such underneath. The people at Midas are patient and understanding. They took me to see my car and were great about explaining which parts do what, and what they should look like. I'm really impressed! read more

I was just at this Midas to have them check out a rattle that seemed to come from the rear of my vehicle. I thought it was my exhaust. As it turned out it was my license plate cover. My family and I have been going to Midas for as long as I can remember due to the quick and affordable service they offer. However, my previous encounter will probably be the last I have with this location. I initially came in as a walk in for an oil change but due to the high volume of services they had that day I was asked to come in another day which was no big deal, I went ahead and scheduled an appt for the following Saturday. I went in the day of my appointment as scheduled, however there was another customer in front of me who I believe was just finishing up. I didn't think much of it until I realized it was almost 15 minutes past the scheduled time for my appointment and the fact that there were 3 employees up at the desk assisting this woman in front of me without any of them acknowledging that I was waiting. Someone eventually got to me and went ahead and started on my oil change. Once this was finished I was notified by one of the employees that my car was missing an oil cap. I was told that someone would be dropping this off at Midas shortly and that they would tack it on no charge, and was asked to wait. I ended up waiting almost 2 hours to find out that this was not going to arrive at the shop after all and was advised by staff to drive over to Honda and buy one from them. Not only was this a waste of my time, I was also denied from the $25 oil change sale because the oil that my car had "didn't qualify" for this. This was strange to me because I was always granted this sale during my past visits and it was never questioned until now. All in all I was really disappointed with the service during this visit and will be going somewhere else for future auto repair services. I wouldn't recommend this place to others who are looking for a consistent shop to go to. read more

Wow. What an entire nightmare. My experience from A-Z was the worst I have ever had in my life. I had my engine replaced and everything to do with this service and replacement was janky, felt untruthful and money driven. Very little updates, phone calls, as LITTLE communication as you can get. I was not updated when the engine was received, started to be worked on nor was I sent any documentation or signed any documentation. My vehicle was in their possession for over a month when I was told it would be 5 days. I even called their "home office" and had zero to little help and without a call back from this locations regional manager. The mechanic that "worked" on my vehicle chose what he was going to replace rather than taking a full analysis, without consulting me at that. I called when my mechanic was out, and another mechanic had suggested a new starter with the purchase of my motor. He then stated that my mechanic would go over it with me. Never happened. My mechanic decided to change my batterie instead of discussing my starter. Mind you, this all happened without any sign of consent from myself, they just did what "they wanted". So now, the starter may have gone out after only having my vehicle back not even two weeks. Which they call an "odd coincidence". Now I get to go back into this place and have them reassess the vehicle while all along this should have been brought to my attention originally. I had another mechanic look at my vehicle and he stated there were missing bolts screws and other valuable pieces in regards to everything under my hood. Way to get more money out of someone. I have never been treated so poorly or spoken down to the way I have at this location. I have zero piece of mind from my experience and now have outrageous bills that could have been avoided. Midas is an authorized Uber inspection facility. They inspected my 2006 Chevy Avalanche, and gave it a passing grade. It's in great condition for is age. I was charged $19.99 for the inspection, after tax and fees, about $24.00. When I went to go for my first Uber trip, I found that my vehicle she was too old, something I'd assumed the Uber authorized inspector would know. I called and spoke to Jake, the manager, who refused to inspect my other newer vehicle at no charge to correct the mistake. He said it was my problem, and that they don't know the restrictions on vehicles. I would think that treating a customer with respect and doing a $19.99 for free to make your customer happy and keep them coming back would be good business. I guess not at this location. Please do not use this Midas location for anything until they learn a little about customer service. read more

So I schedule an appointment to have a dual exhaust system installed, nothing special just a true dual system with glass pack out the back. I was quoted 350 to 550 and told I would get my truck back at the close of business on the same day, so one day of work. Seemed fair at the time so I left my truck anticipating I'd pick it up at the end of the day. But that wasn't the case it took 3 days! Everyday I called I would get a couple more hours, I'd call then I'd get come back at the end of the day it should be ready Nope. Day 3, 4 calls and swinging by and I got my truck back at the end of the day. Pissed but satisfied, I took my truck. Not more than 2 days later I'm driving to work and my truck just dies. No electrical power at all, come to find out my Hot wire from my starter to my battery was pinched between my new exhaust and starter. It melted the hot wire and fried my whole system. Battery $135, Alternator $45, Ignition Coil $35 Tow Truck $50, Timing, Labor Days Work Missed $350. If your taking your vehicles vehicles to Midas of Olympia stick to the basics oil change, tire rotation, etc. Anything else may cost 3x the amount and not having your vehicle for several days. read more

I came in for a simple muffler replacement and oil change. Instead, they kept the muffler and welded it. I looked at my car with another mechanic and he showed me they only welded about half of the muffler and that what was done was done very messily and half assed. In addition to this - I was convinced by the mechanic that my car was "unsafe" because of the radiator (he said it was leaking and I have NEVER seen anything leak from my vehicle, in hindsight I should've never done this). I was worried about my car overheating so I agreed. The mechanic failed to flush the fluids properly and left a bubble in the fluid - this in addition to the failure to plug a hose back in resulted in my engine blowing after driving 2 hours away from home. $4000 later (not including my VERY expensive bill from Midas) they wouldn't even refund me my initial service which resulted in this fiasco. I have owned my 1991 S-10 Blazer for 29 years, and I have always taken it to Midas for mufflers and shocks under their generous lifetime warranty. I needed a new muffler so I made an appointment at the Olympia WA location for the following week. When I arrived there, they knew nothing of my appointment, and even though no other customers were present, it took an hour and a half for them to get around to my vehicle. During this time I noticed that the employees seemed to trickle in on no particular schedule, which probably explains why they took so long to get to my vehicle. The following week, I started noting a strange vibration noise in my vehicle which I traced to a loose exhaust pipe hanger near the muffler. I re-hung it using an extra muffler clamp, which should have been done in the first place, and then realized that the tailpipe was touching the body because the welder failed to rotate it out of contact with the body before he re-welded it. This is what had caused the vibration. On top of all of this, I discover that my Midas "Lifetime Warranty" was not a lifetime warranty anymore and had to fork over $300. Since I live an hour and a half away, I declined to spend a half day to have these people try to correct their mistakes and fixed them myself. This is not the Midas service that I remember, I used to take my vehicles there so I could forget about the problem. Sad. read more
