Service sucks. It's like an apprentice shop. An auto school probably does better work. Sometimes rude front desk staff.

My son went there to replace a damaged tire, was told tire was replaced but all they did was fill it with air. When we returned to get them to actually replace the tire, he was told by the employee that the tire was replaced. When I stepped in to point out that the "new tire" was obviously older and not new, I was shouted at and told that my son needed to avoid potholes and that the wheel was "too damaged" to accept a new tire. When told that was untrue and that his story had now changed, he admitted his shop scammed my son but that it was a different employee who lied and we weren't getting a new tire through them unless we bought a new wheel. We got a nail in a tire while traveling North over the Tappan Zee Bridge and were fortunate to find this place just off I-87 in Nyack. They were super polite, responsive and caring. They patched the tire quickly and sent us on our way. I don't know what the negative reviews are about, but if you're in the area, I would recommend using them. read more

MARIO FLORES IS A NIGHTMARE OWNER - PLEASE READ - DO NOT USE! I want to start by saying that I have used Midas for 10+ years and have loved them... Until now. The people who work there, especially Franco at the front desk, could not be nicer and more helpful. The owner, on the other hand, is awful. My girlfriend and I were driving upstate for a vacation when her car started to shake and make terrible noises. We pulled over, turned the car off and tried to turn it back on to no avail. We were towed to a garage who noticed that there was absolutely no oil in the car, which was super weird bc my girlfriend had her oil changed recently at Midas. Upon closer inspection, they discovered that when the oil was last changed, either the plug was screwed on too tight or the wrong size was put on. As a result the threading was completely striped, the plug had fallen out while we were driving, all of the oil had leaked out and it destroyed the engine. The car was then towed to a Honda for evaluation, and they came to the same conclusion. They quoted us $6500 for a new engine. We reached out to the owner, explained the situation, and he had been avoiding us ever since. Everytime my girlfriend calls, there is no answer, or he will abruptly get off of the phone saying he'd call her later. He never called back. When we speak to other people at Midas, we are told he has called us back and left messages, which is a lie (on the part of the owner). My girlfriend had back surgery coming up, with lots of pre-op appointments, and cannot be without a car now. We have had to pay hundreds out of pocket for a rental while waiting in vain for a call back. This has been an extremely difficult time for us in general, and this owner's heartlessness and complete neglect had turned this situation into an absolute nightmare. Shame on him, and anyone else, who would run a business or treat anyone like this. I implore all readers to take their business elsewhere. read more

I went for an oil change and car inspection here, have been using them for years and Franco at the front desk is great. However, my car ended up broken down on rt. 17 because all the oil drained out from the car and ended up flooding the engine. They determined the oil plug was not put in properly during the oil change and that is what caused the damage. Because my insurance is refusing to fix it, I have attempted to contact the store owner, Mario, several times......and he has not returned ONE phone call. The entire engine needs to be replaced, and I've now been without a car for about 3 weeks. This has been such a nightmare that I have called Midas complaint line and am patiently waiting to see what happens. SHAME ON YOU.....this is a franchise and they are required to have insurance to cover these very issues. I will not bring my car back here again. read more

I would put 0 stars if I could. They improperly secured the drain plug after an oil change and it blew my engine. They replaced it and said they would reimburse me for my rental. It took them 4 weeks to repair my vehicle and my rental bill was $2500. After 3 weeks of calling corporate and stopping into the store, I was told by consumer relations that they would only reimburse me nearly 1/3 of the cost. To top it all off, after driving 1500 miles after the repair, my oil light came on again. They also didn't reimburse me for the tow truck. read more

BEWARE !!!! I'm warning you this is a very truthful review not on spite. Do not bring your car here I went in for a simple inspection. My SUV had 35,000 miles on it. I was told that I needed a $747 brake job for my truck to pass inspection then two minutes later they drop the price to $547. I took my truck back to the dealer. There was nothing wrong with the rear brakes. they took 15 minutes to inspect my truck. These goddamn crooks they should be out of business. I cannot recommend Midas Nyack enough! I've already been there three times and will not go to any other place but there! I have since then moved an hour away, but I still drive there just to get my car serviced by Sean and his wonderful team! All the staff members are super friendly and knowledgeable, extremely helpful and courteous, they even called to check on me a week after my oil change, to make sure everything is running smoothly. You feel truly cared for and special when you go to Midas Nyack and you know you're in good hands. Saturday I had to rush to a job, and left my car abruptly in Sean's care, he did such an amazing job with it and when I got back it was 25 mins past their closing time, but he stayed and waited for me to return. I was so deeply touched! And on top of all this amazing quality of service, the price is extremely reasonable! And Sean had applied the $10 coupon for me even though I had lost it, lol. Ignorant my ass! 5 stars from a moron that reviews McDonald's and orders General Tso chicken from a Vietnamese place... WTF who is ignorant??? Went there again much to my chagrin, needed a NYS inspection on wife's car asap and the lowlife, wannabe hoodrat, trained to be a lying ripoff artist "manager" Brandon, was successful in ripping her off on tires. Free lifetime flat repair and rotations included (except when you need them)! The tires were junk. 3 flats in a year, went to have a flat repair done at the shop and was told techs were sent home early and BS Brandon could not do the flat repair himself due to some BS (*hint* then don't send all of your techs home early if you can't cover them dumbass). When I pointed out the posted hours, the belligerent a**hole called the cops to avert honoring the free lifetime flat repair warranty. Had two more flats since that time (repaired elsewhere, thought he might call the cops again) and replaced the trash tires after 18 months and 10K miles. These were $600 plus for the set of 4. If you are thinking about going here, think again. You will be disappointed in both service and the unnecessary emptying of your wallet. This place and all Midas stores owned by this POS company will rip you off. The positive reviews are either paid for or shilled. This place sucks, stay away, far away. Brought my car in for a vibration and humming noise while driving. Anthony was very helpful with showing me exactly what was wrong with my car and worked with me on the repair costs. The wheel bearing replacement was done in 2 hours and saved me so much time and effort if I were to drop it off somewhere else. It started when light engine and VSA showed up On the dashboard, so I went to Midas in Nyack, to get it fix on November 2021 but I kept coming back to the shop because the same issue keeps coming back - the light engine keeps showing up and I spent about $1200 already and I still have no clue what the problem was with the car. The staff here are pleasant enough, but the exhaust parts they use are complete garbage. Had the exhaust on our 2008 Honda CRV done from the catalytic converter back done less than three years ago and the middle section has already rusted completely through and cracked at the flange where it meets the back section. I paid $900 for the work and the warranty does not cover any of this problem because it only covers the muffler which is a separate piece. They wanted another almost $600 to replace the center section with the same thin walled pipe that will need to replaced again in a couple of years. No thanks! Never coming back here. read more

Cost us $1,000 dollars and the next day the radiator blew....and after much deliberation and tons of phone calls and being told I would be charged for a tow and any work if I couldn't prove they messed up.... I should have wrote this a while back. It still upsets me, so I decided to share this with the world. My 2008 ford escape broke down near this midas, and had AAA towed my car to them. I think this happened in 2011. The manager at the time told me it was my transmission, and they wanted $8000 to replace my CVT transmission. I said $8000?? And he said yes, otherwise you might as well tow it to the junkyard. I called my friend who own a shop in Brooklyn, he said that's outrageous and I agreed. I had them towed my car from Nyack ny to brooklyn. But at the end it was still worth it, $650 was what it costed me to fix my transmission. So do not bring any car, or suv to this shop. This is my experience with these people, and till this day, I still tell all my patients this wonderful story. Now you know, and you can share this with your friends and family. The thing that bothers me the most was the $8000 quote was written on a piece of dirty paper, not even the official paperwork, so something was fishy there too. read more

I have been very hesitant to write a review because I thought the guys were good guys - but after what I just discovered I'm really upset with them. I had already been unhappy enough to stop going there, as I've experienced a lot of the same problems as other negative reviewers. Extremely high prices (for example they quoted me over $1,500 to replace my forward driveshaft because they couldn't find anything but an OEM one, where I found one for $260 and did it myself), and wouldn't push my after-purchase insurance company to pay for it, where guess what - I did get them to pay for it. As well as a host of other issues that were either non existent, not nearly as much of a problem as they made them out to be, or charged me way way way too much to do. But I had my transmission serviced there a year ago and the pan is now leaking. They originally over filled it and had to do the job multiple times, saying they thought the transmission had been tampered with and I will probably need a new transmission - it has driven flawlessly for the last year without a single problem - nothing. And they said I would probably need a new transmission - stating they doubted it would make it another 100 miles. Anyway I go down to check the leak and re torque the bolts per manufacturer specs, and find 4 of the 6 bolt holes stripped of threads and barely tight by the last 1 or 2 thread left. Also one of the 6 clamps is missing from the pan, and I had to go buy a new one from Jeep. Now I don't know if they caused this but they certainly didn't say anything, and this didn't just happen. I could have at least had it helicoiled while the pan was off then, instead of now when it's leaking all over. There was an obvious attempt to hide it long enough with lock tight to get me out and away from there, which thinking back - doesn't surprise me. There were a lot of other things that turned me off about this place - but now I'm really upset. Funny, because I have gone to other Midas shops while away on work since then and been happy with them. I'm a technician by trade so I am very observant and particular when it comes to mechanic work. Sorry guys, I thought you were good guys and all, but this is really unacceptable. I took my car to get the front control arms (4 arms total) replaced. When I got back home I decided to take a look and inspect their work. I discovered they did not install the new cotter pins that each arm came with which is a saftey issue (they prevent the castle nut from backing off to prevent the control arm from coming loose from vibrations while driving. If it comes loose it can cause a bad crash). The 2nd problem is the mechanic also didn't bother to reattach the wheel speed sensor wire brackets back to the new front control arms. They just left them hanging. When I took it back they lied right to my face stating they never saw any new cotter pins. I showed the mechanic and manager the little plastic bag the new cotter pins were in was opened and still attached to both the new front rear arms. I also showed him that in order to remove the castle nut from the new front control arms the mechanic had to remove the new cotter pins. I would have appreciated it if they would have been honest and said the forgot to install them but they denied until I physically showed them once it was back up on the lift. This was an incomplete suspension job and for the money I paid in labor they should have completed the job in full/properly and NOT UPON MY INSPECTION. I will NOT bring my car back here for any work. This was my first time here and they lost my confidence in this simple control arm replacement job. I would advise everyone to inspect any repair work done here for their own safety or better yet go somewhere else. After my experience here there is NO way I will recommend this Midas. read more

I have a POS old car that we use to carry our kayaks. We were going upstate, and of course the exhaust falls apart right over the Tappan Zee bridge (where else). Somehow the hanging pipe managed not to contact the ground or a pot hole as I would have lost the whole exhaust. A quick exit in Nyack and checked for a shop. Fortunately this was during the day and it was right off 87. To put it frankly they had me by the balls. I was 100 miles from home and we were stuck. I am very knowledgeable about car repair so perhaps I had different treatment. A very skilled welder cut a flange off another part and welded it to the broken part. He was going at it for over an hour and the place was busy. They helped me out. Overall $175 well worth it because I have done that work before and it sucks. The service manager was a car guy too had a sick 1 series BMW. YMMV but this place did me well and did not screw me over in a time of need. read more

I am infuriated with the work of this shop. I almost died because of their faulty work when my car swerved out of control due to tire being remounted incorrectly and coming off while driving on highway. Not only did they not put on my tire correctly, but after I realized this myself and brought the car back telling them something was wrong they still did not have the competency to fix it, and let me drive off in an unsafe vehicle. Their work could have been fatal. I will absolutely never return to Midas of Nyack and recommend for your own safety and peace of mind that you look elsewhere for auto work in Nyack. I had brought my car in for an oil change, inspection and to put my winter tires on. Immediately after picking up my car I could tell something was wrong. I turned around and brought my car back within minutes and let the manager Sean know that something didn't feel or sound right, that my back left tire had a weird clunking sound and was vibrating my car. He checked out the car for a few minutes and came back and said that everything was fine and this is just what winter tires are like, "his winter tires always sound like he's in a jet plane". I let him know that my winter tires have never sounded like this and that I have a long drive back to Vermont the next day, he assured me everything was good. A couple days later on my way to work I got on the highway and my car began swerving uncontrollably off the road. I immediately pulled over and saw that one lug nut was missing, with its stud broken off and another was extremely loose, the tire itself was coming off and able to moved with just my hand. When I got my car to a shop they said the tire was barely hanging on. I had to leave my car there for 5 days and missed a week of work. After having another shop put on my winter tires correctly there is absolutely no sound and no clunking. Although I think Brandon is a great guy and is very kind, I was given an estimate of $730 to repair my car when my coils misfired. I knew I could not afford that and was not willing to pay it. I had to have my car towed to Brooklyn to an old friend who is a mechanic. He looked at my car, sent me to buy the $120 piece and then completed the job in under half an hour. Car works great now. Wish I had a better experience here but I saved a BUNCH of money by not going through with the repair at this location. read more

Now, I just took my car there and I was taken for a ride financially and the problem still goes on. I literally came out with more problems than what I originally took it in for.... but of course they took my $1500 with no problem. Very disappointed and I will no longer take neither of my 3 trucks as I use to. The work ethics and quality of work is near dangerous. I just made a trip back from CLE, OH and my check engine light came on and I kinda knew what was wrong. I called this Midas first thing in the AM and explained my situation and that I needed the truck fixed ASAP and Brandon the shop manager said bring it right in. I got there and he took my Ram 2500 in and diagnosed it pretty fast. And he told me I needed to do all 16 spark plugs and not believing what I was told. As I was waiting the atmosphere of this shop was very welcoming by all of the employees there. I read all the reviews and there was way more bad than good. So I started asking other people waiting if they have been there before and every one of them was long term repeat customers with everything good to say about this shop. Even all the people coming in were repeat customers!! Bottom line is they diagnosed the truck right and it runs better then it ever has. I'm usually very leary of joints like this but this place is definitely top notch!! ALL THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE DEFINITELY IGNORANT PEOPLE!!! I'm definitely a NEW loyal customer to this place!!! I went here with a perfectly running car to get new winter treads for the front of my sedan. They claimed my wheels were bent, so I came back with new wheels. They still couldn't balance the new tires. After six hours and two visits, I drove the car to a great shop in Clifton, NJ and in one hour I was driving again. Don't go here. Don't even consider it. I am filing a formal claim with NY State Department of Motor Vehicles. This place is a joke! read more

NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE...or any Midas. I have taken my car to Midas in Nyack for the past 3 years for NY state inspection. Overall, a fine experience until this year. I made an appt, took my car in and Brandon (store manager) reported back that my car passed inspection, but my struts were blown and leaking and I needed to replace both for a whopping $725 and that was with a generous discount he was offering me. I asked why they needed replaced despite passing inspection and he said NY was very lenient with requirements. He proceeded to tell me this could become a safety issue. I told him I wasn't sure if I was going to keep my car for more than a few months and I'd rather not do it. He continued to push, told me some horrible things that could happen if I didn't get it replaced, and even offered to pay for a rental car for 2 days if I left my car there to have the repairs done. It was very clear he did not want me to leave with my car. I told him I'd come back tomorrow and he said he'd hang on to my pass inspection sticker until then...which I insisted he give me that day. I left, took my car to my mechanic in New Jersey and found out my struts are in PERFECT CONDITION!!! Absolutely fine. I asked if this could be a difference of opinion and he said no, they are either leaking or not. No in between. I asked if Midas could have recommended I get them replaced as preventative. He said no, you don't do preventative maintenance with struts. I know very little about the mechanics of a car, beyond keeping up with regular oil changes and maintenance, and I trust that an establishment such as Midas would give me honest advice (I know, very naive). I've had similar experiences like this with Midas before where I have found out that a repair I had done was not only not necessary, but excessive but never to this extent. I really hope this was a one off experience but I'll probably avoid Midas for the rest of my life. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR TO TO THIS SHOP!!! I came for a routine car inspection renewal. After dropping my car off, I get a call from Brian at the front desk saying that I needed new windshield wipers due to "chattering and streaking", or I would fail inspection. Funny I just so happen to have purchased new BOSCH wipers 2 months ago. I explained this to Brian, but he reiterated that I cannot pass inspection with my current wipers. I decided to visit the shop (this time with my boyfriend) immediately to view this "chattering and streaking" myself. We arrived and noticed there was a prior drop from melted snow on my windshield that dried up which we pointed out as evidence that my wipers had not even been tested and therefore they could not have determined that I had "chattering and streaking". I proceeded to test my wipers in front of Brian using my windshield fluid which resulted in a smooth, streak free, non-chattering finish. Brian appeared dumbfounded and called the mechanic over (who reported my wipers as unsatisfactory). The mechanic ran the wipers and had the same perfect result, and then proceeded to try and convince us that there was a streak and said "you trying to say I'm not a mechanic!" Upon calling them out on their bullshit, Brian yelled to get out of HIS shop repeatedly and we gladly complied, though appalled at his rudeness. As I was about to drive off, Brian waved us back and said they would approve my inspection and give me the sticker. We reluctantly agreed since it was critical to complete this reinspection. We returned to the waiting area and watched them like hawks because we did not trust them to not create additional mysterious issues to my car. There was another customer in the lobby that was getting his car inspected too who also, watched them work closely. He said "these guys are the worst. They are crooks" and we agreed. My deceased father was a car mechanic. Midas is a disgrace to the mechanic profession. I am disgusted at the service and experience received at Midas as a first time customer. As we departed, Brian said we had a oil leak. I have never seen any oil leaking. My boyfriend said "oh yeah? What kind of oil?".... it sounded like more bullshit. These guys have no shame. I WILL NEVER set foot in a Midas shop again. read more
